And while I may have heard of it infrequently in passing (mostly when looking into VN recommendations) - I have literally never seen it receive an iota of traction it gets on Yea Forums outside this place.

Not him but Umineko was HUGE (when it comes to VNs at least) in the west once it got translated, I saw that shit literally everywhere.

The entire main point of the story focuses on Ange, if you like her or not has nothing to do with how important she is to the overall plot. If you dislike all her scenes then you dislike half the VN and you literally didn't "get it".

The rosatrice video, even if inaccurate, is still one of the comfiest analytical pieces ever made.

she isn't important outside of being "someone that exists in the real world." her being in the future only serves to anchor her as being "someone in the real, true world." she only serves as an anchor to the "truth" in Umineko and as a character passes on a shitty and retarded story of overcoming familial loss.
and 99% of the story does not focus on Ange. she gets half of ep. 3, barely a fourth of episode 8 and minor appearances in between. literally as much screentime as Yasu.
