I just finished a playthrough of GD. Before the final battle against Nemesis I "paid" to lock in Lorenz x Marianne and then Hilda x Balthus, hoping that Claude would then be paired with Lysithea. I was playing Bylass and picked Sylvain, who I had recruited because quite frankly, I didn't quite agree with Claude's ideals (you want a story that changes Fodlan? Crimson Flower >>> Verdant Wind) and didn't find think of him as husbando material, whereas Sylvain is best boy.
Instead, I was disappointed with Lys and Marianne ended up on their own because the game put Lorenz with Claude. Seriously, wtf?
