my baseless assumption is that they were actually planning on releasing this game far earlier in some kind of pre-alpha, but the trailer was far more successful than they anticipated, they got a ton of publicity, and with that investment offers. Riot buys them, out internal arguments erupt, some key Devs leaves under written contracts to shut-up, and the content bloat due to them being a new studio and pressure from riot for this to be the next beeg thing has it on a release date for 2030 or some shit.
Whatever the case is, these ass-hats have no idea what they are doing with the money they have. Also i'm a nigger.
