I can refute this, in two ways.
The first argument for modding is when a game has potential, but doesn't work the way it should. Bethesda games are a prime example. They are always buggy, with lots of cut content and questionable choices that make modding the games bring out their true potential. It could even be argued that Bethesda even intentionally releases half-assed, rushed games because they know the modding community will fix them, and they don't care about console players, but that's a whole other can of worms.
The second argument is that sometimes a game is very good, but it lacks replayablity, or perhaps it's a game that doesn't have an actual 'end' but you eventually run out of things to do. In this case, modding can add a reason to keep playing the game, and keep it fresh for many more hours than it would have been otherwise. If every game released for the past 20 years is shit, as Yea Forums often likes to tout, then modding older games gets around that by making them potentially infinitely replayable.
But since this thread itself is just a shitpost, I'll just end my post by saying no u, faggot.
