When does oblivion get good? I finished the dark brotherhood questline and wager I'm about halfway through the thieves guild and havent touched the main quest.

Dark brotherhood questline is one of the best things oblivion has to offer. Mages' guild can be annoying something, and MQ is quite retarded but ok if you don't think about it too hard. And Shivering Isles are a masterpiece.

Dark brotherhood had some cool ideas but was overall disappointing. Whodunnit was a glitchy meme that required approaching it the same way you did every other mission (unfortunately), and the climax had such potential with rooting out the spy but you can't even tell the speakers/listener that he's still there. Same goes for the rite of purification, imagine going full deus ex and having an alternative questline to protect your sect or find evidence that they're not guilty

If you go by the pure value in Septims, then Tamriel has a gold:silver ratio of 1:2. This means that either there's a fuckload of gold or very little silver around. For reference, in our world, the mined ratio of gold and silver is 1:8, with the historical value ration being around 1:15. The current ratio is about 1:80. If you look at the prices of goods in Tamriel, then you'll find that gold is very fucking cheap, all things considered, so it's probably that there's a lot more gold around in Tamriel than in our world. Possibly due to shit like Transmute Mineral Ore.

I'm reading some background info for the GLENMORIL mod, and apparently Hermaeus Mora's making you go through shit to show him how to ascend as an example since he can't do it himself. I know it's just mod lore, but I just want to know if there's any basis in actual ES lore. According to the mod's translator:

i would theorize that for some reason, aedra and daedra and't really even perceive of the idea of the wheel being I.
their personalities and metaphysical beings are too fixed and robotic, more like a function of the existence of the godhead, rather than individual beings. why lorkhan would have been different though, i have no idea.

the walking ways lead to true divinity beyond anything the princes or the aedra are.
if they could do it they would. if nothing else, th very personality of a daedra like mehrunes would force him to try, due to it being the greatest of all revolutionary changes.

No, Morrowind's factions are morally ambiguous for the most part. They're also treated more like fantasy jobs than their own isolated stories. They still tie into the larger story of Vvardenfell, which is a huge strength cause they end up feeling like they really fit in that world. When there are clear morals presented to you usually you are given an option. For instance the Thieves Guild in Morrowind is run by a dark elfaboo who wants to bring back some old order of gracious robin hood-esque thieves but you can decline his offer and just do the normal work he has. Sometimes you'll have to do something you don't want to, but it's usually because there is no other reasonable path, like doing a certain "favor" for Crassius Curio to rank up in House Hlaalu.

the base game never gets good. go do the shivering isles DLC right now. you can drop it after that.

One thing I like about Morrowind's faction quests is how a number of them intersect and completing one for a specific faction can cause issues with other factions

Shivering Isles is like the Dark Brotherhood, promising at first and then fizzles out in much the same way. You start out doing some quirky quests but then it just devolves into dungeon after fucking dungeon. Also it's still shit for roleplaying, and the writing is cringeworthy most of the time. i've never played oblivion, so i don't know for sure. but sheo's behavior, while sometimes grating, is usually much more layered than just spork quirkiness.
he often times teaches lessons, albeit in a usually destructive and violent way. the survivors, those not maddened, are usually better for his involvement or their descendants learn to avoid the behavior that lead to the situation.
