Maybe in 20-30 years

maybe but not soon.
headcannon and Christian whitehead are apparently working on origins

If they bitched about Denuvo alone i don't think they're too trilled about Denuvo coming back again in Origins plus the shitty business practice they got going

meh. At this point i am probably glad they just have a game on their hands. Stealth especially.
Sega is shit though and the fact that Sonic Colours has not been cracked means they will trust denuvo for quite a while.

Possibly.
If I was Sega and planning to make a new 2D Sonic game to follow Mania there are certain steps I would take.
Like for instance I would have the team familiarize themselves with the Retro engine and classic Sonic level design by having them port the classic games.
If Sega did it themselves would would it be good? No idea, Sega has a history of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory do to their own corporate incompetence.

No. The fact that Mania got made at all was a miracle. Sega never intended to make the first game, so they would obviously never do a second game. Also Nips don't like Classic gameplay all that much

The fact that they're still willing to work with Taxman and Stealth with Sonic Origins gives me hope, but most likely we won't be getting it any time soon.

Hopefully not. SEGA of Japan need to take back all creative freedoms with the Sonic franchise otherwise it will turn into a parody of itself, with zero innovation & a reliance on nostalgia bait with each title

>the only remotely good games on this list are 2 nostalgiawank festivals of better times

this franchise is one big cosmic joke

japanese people dont like sonic

Which games are worth playing be honest. My daughter is really getting into sonic now because of all the movie ads. Would be nice to play some kino with her

Never, between Sega retardation and the devs condemning denuevo because they are still rom hackers at heart. If there is one it will end up being Sonic 4 episode 3 levels of shit.

Keep her as far away from sonic as possible.
That said, Mania, Colors, Generations. Unleashed since she's a kid and won't realize the night stages are terrible.

Never in a million years. Sega doesn't like it when the white man outskills them.

If she's still really kiddy Colors would sit well, it's the one game that settled Sonic as a cartoon character being all funny and shit and the game as a whole has more of a kiddy vibe that's more on par with the movie
If she's older and has a preference for cooler stuff then it would be the Adventure games, but if she's that much into the movie these games would probably feel a bit alien
Regardless she should definitively play the classics, 1, CD, 2, 3&K and Mania

autism

Origins is Mania 2 in a way.

you gay?

Oh no... It's retarded...

The easiest ones to play through are SA1, 2, and Colors. Lost World probably wouldn't be wholly unenjoyable for a kid either. I don't know how much a kid today would like something more old school looking with no cutscenes, but I still recommend Mania as well.

She’s only 3 but she has great spatial awareness, she plays and understand everything in portal knights. I don’t think she will play sonic well into her teens, her phases last a few months top. So I’m confident she won’t become a “sonic fan”

Thanks I’ll check colors out since you are the second one to recommend. Thank you

If she likes colors I can maybe try SA1-2. I’m 100 percent sure the 2D games will be too difficult for her

Might as well start with Origins

must plays
>Sonic Origins (playable everywhere) (coming out at the end of June)
>Sonic Mania Plus (playable everywhere)
if she likes the stories and characters
>Sonic Adventure (playable on Xbox, PS4, PC)
>Sonic Adventure 2 (playable on Xbox, PS4, PC)
>Sonic Unleashed (playable on Xbox)

Not in the slightest.

more like Mania 0.5, since it's the old shit with a teeny bit of new sprinkled in, vs Mania proper with even more new injected into the mix

Don't listen to the Colors tards and just give her Sonic 1, 2, 3 & Knuckles, CD and Mania. That should be more than enough for someone who goes through phases quickly or whatever.

Keep in mind that most ports of SA 1 are pretty broken so either give her the original dreamcast version emulated or set up the PC version with mods to fix it.

checked. Also what the hell are the numbers correlating to?

>Hopefully not. SEGA of Japan need to take back all creative freedoms with the Sonic franchise otherwise it will turn into a parody of itself, with zero innovation & a reliance on nostalgia bait with each title
underrated. No one will admit this.

Famitsu scores

Color tarts lmao what’s wrong with colors?

I was just seeing this on the other thread. Might go the mod route. I don’t want to buy a console for one game

Huh, I was questioning if it even was a score with how fucking poorly everything is scored.

Famitsu scores goes up to 40, each score is the total sum of 4 different reviewers each giving a out of 10 score, so some games there have some really good scores, including Forces which is baffling to say the least

Famitsu scores out of 40

You can just emulate the dreamcast version also

Threadly reminder that forces sold more than mania

Sonic Adventure
Sonic Adventure 2
Sonic Colors
Sonic Generations
Sonic Mania
Sonic Origins (when it comes out)

The only six games you need as a sonic fan honestly.

>No one will admit this.
Just like retards like you won't admit that Sonic Team has been making nothing but actual dogshit for at least a decade now. Mania was breath of fresh air for once, and that's only because it was made by fans who know what the fuck they're doing. Frontiers is gonna be dog shit btw.

Souce?

The opinion of the japanese doesn't matter when they flock to whatever the next JRPG is.

What makes generations good? What about the advance or the rush games?

Wasn't Generations (and not Forces) mentioned alongside Mania and TSR in that official sales thing

Yes, a fucking 10 year old game (alongside Mania) got mentioned as a positive in the financial report, while Forces got fuck all.

It's has the great 3D Sonic gameplay of the (daytime) sonic unleashed levels but instead of half the game being the shitty werehog levels it's classic sonic levels instead in Sonic Generations. A better replacement.

Advance and Rush games are also good. But the definitive 2D games are the classic ones in the origins collection and Sonic Mania. The Advance and Rush games are just for "if you want more sonic games that are actually good, play these." But they're not essential like mania and the Genesis games.

sonic adventure dx on steam with the mods make it a pretty great experience. You get most of the DC visuals but with better framerate and some fixes.

You absolute double-retard. The only reason you're typing on this board about Sonic the Hedgehog is because SEGA of Japan 1) created the fucking character & 2) also created every iconic moment in the series history for you to meme to this day. Name ONE instance where Western devs added a meaningful game to Sonic's library besides Mania, which only had 4 original zones. You fucking can't. Nu-fans need to fuck off with & read the Archie comics

i guarantee you mania had a better profit margin

The only reason anyone is talking about sonic right now is because of the western movies.

based understander of what makes Sonic soulful

which will change the second Frontiers gameplay is reveled. Because people care about Sonic for the games. Which Japan creates. Not the weird furryshit that the West focuses on

Man i want to live in your world

IN HIS (MY) WORLDDDDDD

I am surprised that Sonic still holds the interest of underage a lot more than I imagined after al these years. Sonic is sort of mickey mouse for boys, (because Disney is inept and makes both Minnie and Mickey for girls).

as a boomer; mania is literally the only good sonic game apart from the very first games on the Genesis and the master system. overall the franchise is godshit for kids.

which "His World" is the better one
youtu.be/BWWfjK0v8eM

"godshit" night actually be the best descriptor for Sonic i've heard.
>Sonic is shit, but it's the BEST shit.

thank God I'm not old enough to hold this opinion

Pretty much. I saw sonic 2 in theaters and was actually surprised at how many enthusiastic kids showed up. I know it's a kids movie, but these kids were picking up on all of the little Easter eggs you'd only get if you played the games. For the longest time, I thought the new sonic games were only being bought by 30 year old sonic fanboys but it turns out there's a huge niche of kids that still like sonic a lot. Will probably be more kids getting into sonic now because of the movies. No matter how bad the games are. Hell, I remember playing sonic 06 when I was like 10 and thinking "this game is so ass but sonic is so cool". Id imagine it probably resonates the same way with kids today. Luckily they have generations and colors and mania to play now. I didn't have that when I was 10.

>Sonic Colors
Colors is really light hearted and simple, lots of colors thanks to color power as well. If she has a ds/3ds, the ds port of colors is also really good fun (The ds rush games are also excellent, though their level design may be too bullshitty for her)

>Sonic Generations
Generations is great for a few reasons. Like other anons said, it's the perfection of the boost formula, if she likes colors then she'll love how modern controls in generations. It also has classic sonic, which although his physics aren't perfect are still pretty good. If she enjoys classic sonic in gens, she'll probably enjoy the classic games )1/2/3&K/CD/Mania).
Another reason generations is cool, is with it being a celebration title. Generations celebrates most of the series' history, so from there you can grab games depending on what she likes from generations. Does she like the black and red hedgehog from that one boss fight? Grab Sonic Adventure 2 and maybe Shadow (or if you don't want her playing rated T games yet, Heroes is an alternative where Shadow plays a big role, but be wary that his story is considered as that game's hard mode).
Does she like that white flying hedgehog? Sonic 06 (if you have a ps3/360 laying around). While it is a glitchy mess, a kid can still find joy in it. She probably isn't old enough to know the difference between "objectively good" game design.

>Niece is into Sonic because movie
>Want to record modded into not fucked up ports no commentary playthroughs of SA1/2 for her.
>Uncertain as to if I should do more after.
I'm thinking I'll emulate Heroes with a 100% save downloaded, run through Team Dark since it's the only team story to continue SA2's plotline then the last story. As for Shadow, just pure hero with the final boss of it replaced with the last story then call it a canon run on YouTube.

Did the P06 dev say if he's gonna include the cutscenes or hub area? 06 would wait for that to be done if I do it.

>2D games would be too difficulty
>SA1-2
No the latter levels of 2 are harder than almost anything in classic sonic.
