I'm playing the Switch version on hardware right now and the image quality on a 4K TV is atrocious. If I had a better PC I'd have emulated it. Seriously I hardly ever pull my Switch out because the games I'd want to play on it run at such a low resolution it causes eye strain.

Do you use Yuzu or Ryz?

My PC runs it on a 1660s. Surely you must have better hardware than I?

I tried both of them but the experience on either wasn't great. Granted this was months ago but I have an aging CPU that I really should get around to replacing. It was just easier to go for OG hardware to get a quick playthrough in before XBC3 comes out.

I have a GTX1080 but I don't think that's the problem. The problem is my CPU which is a i7 6700k which is older than dirt now.

definitive edition is a straight upgrade unless you're contrarian about the graphics. No reason not to get it

The original on Wii was beautiful... EXCEPT for the faces. They were hideous and literally N64 tier. Even faces on PS2 games were better.
The switch version is objectively the best way to play this game, assume anyone who says otherwise is trolling.

The Wii faces are more expressive, but they also just look like a decal slapped on a face texture, it almost looks like a video file projected onto a face. Definitive loses some of that, but people actually have eyes and mouths and shit more. Play Switch if you want to buy, emulate if you just want to dick around.

XCDE is what all remasters should aspire to it is almost identical to the original gameplay wise and just improves the experience by optimising and improving how the player interacts with the game.

I was hoping XC2 would run decently well on emulator before XC3 comes out but I doubt that's going to happen in a few months.

The lack of skill trees really hampers FC it almost forces you to play in a certain way.

I know there's a 60 fps patch, but never got it to work with the resolution downscale stuff so I didn't bother

Anyone who recommends the Wii version on this day and age, it's Blinded by Nostalgia. I can respect (not understand, just respect) liking the original visuals of the Wii more, it's a questionable taste, but I know the Nostalgia is there. But come on. All the gameplay improvement of DE are subtle at first, yet they make a huge difference, as in, make the Side Quests tolerable. They also fix the difficulty scale to avoid broken the game too early if you don't want to. And even then, it's all optional, even the music if you want to, so you can still experience the original game as it was. So it's all about the visuals at the end of the day.
