It isn't really just two movies though, that's sort of disingenuous. A full cinematic universe is planned and so far it looks like that plan will actually succeed. We're getting two tv shows, a new game with some actual budget behind it, Sonic Origins, and a third movie on the way as well. It looks like they won't be slowing down the IP at this rate.

Yeah, but it didn't usher in a whole slew of Sonic related media, which makes me not consider it a renaissance for the franchise. The animated mini series was a pretty small thing, and Mania is far from the first Sonic game to get DLC. The Sonic movie was a huge deal for the franchise and it's a big reason why we're getting so much stuff. Fans shouldn't pretend that it wasn't a big deal.

We know jack and shit about how Sonic Frontiers will actually play, and history shows us that Sonic Team is a bad developer so there's no reason to believe they will magically make a good game out of nowhere. Sonic Origins is yet another re-release of old Sonic games, which have already been re-released this gen and last gen. Yeah, real good renaissance.
