I've been playing them again since I hooked up my PS2 again recently and I couldn't disagree more. I'd honestly go as far as to say that nearly everything wrong with R&C today started with 2, the humour and music (which both still aren't as good as those of 1) do an absolute shitload of heavy lifting in terms of making it still enjoyable. The level design especially is so much less interesting than 1's it's unreal.

I always liked the dynamic between Ratchet and Clank, and I just feel like the first game overly drags out the conflict between them. The later games also have a ton of QoL change and things like the minigames and 2D platforming levels.
