When was the last time you were truly satisfied by a video game ending?

Witcher 3 blood and wine

Elden ring when I burned everything down

Witcher 3. Ciri becomes a princess and Geralt goes back to being a drunk horny hobo.

ER probably had the most unsatisfying endings of any Soulsborne

Why do Elden retards have to post on every other game? Can't they be content in their bubble without acting like insufferable cunts screeching elsewhere? Is there some innate jealousy or some sunk cost that drives to act the way they do?

Bug Fables, definitely.

They must make sure you know they beat the game. They need their existence validated somehow.

finding satisfaction in media endings is so strange to me. idk why everyone cares so much about how a story ends. maybe my brain is broken and this is boring and cliche but i've found way more value in how a story is told than how a story ends

Probably the first TLoU

Am I the only one that wants FFVIII-2

>When was the last time you were truly satisfied by a video game ending?
Probably when playing Cryostasis, about eight years ago.

I was considering mentioning Pathologic 2, but honestly - no. As much as I loved that game, I wasn't truly satisfied with the ending(s).

Cryostasis is a game that pulled off something absolutely fucking amazing. It managed to create a genuine happy ending to a genuinely good, adult and for the most part really fucking depressing story. And the happy ending did not cheapen a single second of it, it was completely fucking earned.
Aside from the story being just good, it's incredibly rare to me that some work (not even limited to games, most media struggle with this) a genuine happy ending that still carries weight to it.
Almost every story I know that carries stronger meaning of weight tend to be in some way tragic, or at least ambiguous in it's ending. It makes sense. Cryo somehow figured this shit out so well.

The game itself is a miserable pile of terrible gameplay-design and some of the worst optimization I've ever seen. It's definitely not a game I could easily recommend to anyone.

But man, the story is great, and the ending is superb.

Braindead people put too much value on endings because that's all they can remember pretty much.

probably, it was the worst FF.
>Only 2 members of the cast had a personality
>Grind out the ass worse than any other FF
>Plot made literally no sense and they never explained Ultamecia's motive
>Spammy special effects that eat hours of your life just to watch them play out, made the already awful grind even slower
Genuinely one of the worst games I've ever played, certainly the worst FF.

If you're immersed in the story and care about what happens to the characters in it, the ending is generally important since that's the last time you're gonna see them and what leaves a lasting imprint when they're gone.

I was answering op's question you fucking spaz

Casuals only care about the main story beats - plot twists, endings, action scenes etc. They don't give a fuck about symbolism, themes etc. They even think character development means characters have to change.

You stupid fuck

cant remember, most endings are shit

In my experience even some of the greatest games have shit endings. It's very rare that a game has a good well written ending.

Yeah, video game stories tend to suck as a general rule but their endings in particular are rarely satisfying or good. I can see why someone might not care about vidya endings as a cope, but not caring about endings in general? Literally should be everything the story is building to and the final chapter. Literally the most important part that the rest builds to.

You have a very narrow concept of storytelling

13 Sentinels, Pathfinder Kingmaker (replayed it because WotR is kinda bad), Ghostwire Tokyo's ending was fine even if the game was kinda meh, played 3H again a month ago or so and it has a pretty nice ending with the slides.

I remember Triangle Strat and Elden Ring having kind of shitty endings, but honestly compared to anime and manga vidya has it good in that department.

>If you're immersed in the story
Video games.

Yeah well you have a very narrow concept of

>video games all have shitty stories by default
You will never be a boomer.

You will never read an actual book.

cool projection, junior.

I don't play games for stories, unlike your retarded ass.

13 Sentinels wrapped up pretty well.

>I don't play games
I know. It's pretty obvious.

No, I play games. I just do it for the gameplay.

No, you don't. You play nothing. Fuck off.

Nigger, I can do both. I can still appreciate a book while also appreciating when a game has a good story. They're not mutually exclusive things. You're trying way too hard to sound intelligent and it makes you look like a retard.

NOOOO YOU CAN ONLY PUT STATS IN ONE THING YOU'RE CHEATING STOP IT STOP IT

No, you're a groomer tranny faggot who is losing his mind. Commit suicide, and quickly.

more projecting this time with a side of newfag buzzword stew
LOL

Ok groomer.

Does Cryostasis still run like ass because it only uses one core?

>muh groomers
back to Twitter you fucking faggot

ok nigger rapist

Ok, seething groomer.

final fantasy 8 is literally the worst final fantasy game

How does it feel to be gay and wrong?

you can always smell when a 12 or 13 fan enters the room

If you've consumed a good story, you wouldn't ever compare them to fucking video game stories. You're a pathetic pseud, in your own lingo.

>Does Cryostasis still run like ass because it only uses one core?
Yes, but the one core thing is only part of the problem.
The game is just not optimized at all. But yeah, stronger computer does not solve the issue, it tends to run poorly on most rigs. I was relatively lucky after about four attempts at install (it has also annyoing demands for codecs that are not supported anymore and some other third-party graphic software that has been long since discontinued) but I have managed to ultimately make it run decently... by late 2000's PC port standards. (which is is not, it's a PC exclusive but what can you do?)

Then again, I'm going to be completely honest with you: I actually never even finished the game without cheats. Again: Cryostasis, story aside, is a pretty miserable experience. And only a tiny bit of it can be excused by the good old eastern-european "it's miserable on purpose".

>pseud
ironic

>consumed
you don't read. You're the same as the Twitter bitches who pose with a book pretending to read.
>must consume media beep boop
lmao NPC faggot

Who the fuck said I compared them?

Maybe you should try enjoying instead of consuming like a fat guy eating food.

I'm using your own (((lingo))), you illiterate kike.

>food analogy

Oh, it's a retarded ass Russia bot, lost and confused.
Head on back you double nigger faggot

I have never heard anyone other than some marketing-speak faggot say "consume" in regards to a pleasurable hobby before lmao
Maybe MMO addicts once or twice

Metro Exodus

Tlou2

bro I totally consumed this excellent painting today at the Natty History.

Tearaway's ending was pretty great.

Prey, the new one. I kept thinking I was smart and figuring things out, only for new stuff to be introduced, then I'd feel like I was ahead of the game again only for the finale to completely catch me off guard. What an interesting ending.

>muh russia
Pathetic. Your house of cards is falling.

Pathetic. Your boat is sinking/chemical plat is exploding/command center is on fire/economy is in the toilet
lmao

Not him, but seriously?
To consume media is a completely common turn of phrase. Since the term "media" is non-specific, you can't really use any other verb with that, unless you are also specifying the nature of said media (I read only state-supported media means you specifically only read state-supported TEXTUAL media, like news, journals and articles).

But when you are using the term "media" to lump books, movies, theatre, music etc together - what other verb would you use if not "consume"?
It has no further specific implication. It's just normal part of the language we use.

Ok groomer.

Consoooooom! No one said that till it was maymayed. Consume video games? Give me a break.

>To consume media is a completely common turn of phrase.
by marketers or by people who don't fucking engage with the media they are talking about. This is how I know that faggot doesn't read.
When I talk with friends about books or games, nobody says "consume". Humans don't speak like that.
People say, "What did you think of Sanderson's new book, bro? Good read?" "Did you beat Elden? What are you PLAYING (not consuming) next?"

God you memer faggots need to be killed in your homes. You are not humans just programs.

Your statements doesn't work. Something that's "good" doesn't suddenly become "bad" just because something better exists not by definition or common sense.

he can't read that, bro. You're wasting your time. Not enough emjois, buzzwords, or wojaks for him to get it.

>this level of spoken violence
That's how I know the meme is working, groomer :)

Final Fantasy 9
Chrono Trigger
Persona 4 Golden
Trails in the Sky the 3rd
Cold Steel 4
Lightning Returns (fantastic 10 minute CGI ending cutscene)
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins
Resident Evil 2 Remake Route B ending

So basically it's almost always JRPGs that generally have really satisfying endings. The one exception on my list is RE2 Remake just because the ending is feel good as fuck and then gives you a cool rock song to listen to.

Nioh 2's was pretty sweet. Back in front of the cherry tree but going off on an adventure with Mumyo instead as the kino music kicks in.

Ok groomer.
