20 bucks feels correct. With digital distribution, marketing, and programing tools everything should be cheaper. AAA needs to be so expensive because they have like a million coders for some reason doing a job a smaller team could do now. 20 as a base feels right because sales and such drop it around 10-15 and more premium goes up to 30-40. Anything else we s greed. Especially because of how often games nickel and dime you for extra profit now.

There are games I'd feel comfortable buying at $100 and games that I wouldn't pay more than $10 for, but most commonly $40 is about what I'd want to play for "a game" of average quality and length and all that where I didn't have any hype going in

It varies wildly. I spent over $400 just to play Smash Ultimate in 2018. I feel satisfied with that purchase, even though I barely use my Switch for anything else. On the other end, I've been burned multiple times by short, shitty indie games that I only spent like 15 bucks on.

So to answer your questions:
1. If a game is good enough, I'll pay hundreds of dollars for it.

2. If I'm willing to wait for a discount, then I don't really care about the game that much in the first place.

Given engines, middleware, reduced costs of digital distribution compared to physical making it cheaper I'd say $20-$25 for AAA games.

No more than 50EUR, that's already quite spicy and not something I'd pay for most titles out there. There are exceptions and probably even fewer that I'd pay 60EUR for but those are very few and far between. Something like 20-30EUR is more like what I'd be willing to spend on most new games if they're not absolutely top-tier amazing and suited perfectly to my tastes.
