I like Sims 4, but yeah, Sims 2 is my favorite.
3 also has the best gameplay but is hideous and buggy, even with nraas shit.

3 will always be the worst, 4 isn't on 2's level of quality but i'd say it's like a good reboot of the series

Was there any particular reason why sims 4 broke continuity with the timeline of the first 3 games?

Fresh start. I'm happy because Bella missing in 2 made me sad. The kid versions of Bella and Mortimer were lame.

So what was the correct path for this family?
Expose the affair to the wife (or the girls) and then divorce?
Fix their marriage?
Keep the affair hidden?
Let the goth girl fail school and run away from home?
Fix the twins relationship?

I think the game wanted you to experience the demotion/fired, cheating, divorce and runaway events and mechanics with this family but I've always felt kinda bad about ruining their entire life in a single day.

Isn't the simplest explanation for that just technical issues? Moving sims between neighborhoods causes savecorruption.

They could've easily given her her actual face, even in an update with an expansion.
They could've just made a fake duplicate family for her in Strangetown and use them for the memories.

Play a week in game with one family, then switch to another. Rinse and repeat until you've done all families, then simply renew the cycle. I'm currently on 3rd generation Pleasant View as a result.

At literally the same time as in the same instance? No. But you can send one teen off to college, where they will be in the university sim bin, then you do the same with another, and then you just simply move them into the same lot together.

That's not the problem with the Sims 3.
Most modern hardware runs it smoothly already.
The problem is the game won't let you save, sims getting stuck, and progression breaking. Even with Nraas or Awesomemod the bugs persist. Also, even on an NVME it takes long as fuck to load into the game on start.

Nah it's a huge difference with that mod. And yeah initial start will always be a chore I guess, but I forget - does the game load in the background or does it halt the progress the second you tab out like some games do? If the former, it's honestly no big deal.

Nope, there's pretty much zero body customization. You can download outfits with different body meshes but the body's gonna go back to normal when they take them off.
