Just started playing 7, what am I in for? I've only ever played Judgment before and I thought it was wack.
if they don't get rid of the rpg combat system I'm never touching another game in this semen slurping series ever again
Execellent. Hope they announce PC ports for Dead souls, Kenzan and ishin aswell.
Also kiwami 3
Wasn't there a poll last year in which sega acknowledged that people want the spinoffs on pc, specifically ishin and kenzan (dead souls was a huge flop that turned them away from the english market for a while so it might not be released on pc)
Wouldn't be that weird of a thought seeing how they wanted judgments on pc if not for the retarded model company and basically shutdowned the spinoff series because of it.
Kurohyo translated never tho, no one remembers it
the combat was never good in the first place.
They'll probably get the fighting system off judgements since the plan was for the main series to have a different playstyle and for judgements to be the normal fighting (why, don't ask me, seems like it should be the other way around)
If they don't go back to bmup gameplay I'm gonna wait for a steep sale again.
go back to your kirby and pokeman dumb tendie.
>Wasn't there a poll last year in which sega acknowledged that people want the spinoffs on pc,
Big if true
nice strawman. I play actual action games so I know that yakuzas combat has always been a garbage brawler. At it's highest, you're chaining a bunch of unique heat actions together or juggling a boss/comboing his back in a janky and fairly boring manner. At it's lowest it's filled with input reading bosses that force you to constantly dodge, block, and wait out for them to finish a big armored combo string before you can hit them for a meager amount of damage.
There's nothing interesting about the combat. It's all flash no substance and that's fine, i'm simply pointing out that the combat was always trash and going turn based doesn't really change much, since at the end of the day the most interesting parts remain, the flashy animations, which is the only decent thing about it.
okay tendie.
I still can't believe they put Judgement on fucking Stadia instead of PC.
>No Nagoshi
>Uncle Phil's tendrils all over the franchise
Nope
i hope it has both kiryu and beat em up mechanics instead of that afro faggot and clunky turn based mess
I was a big fan (completed all the previous games, including judgment) but the turn based combat really ruined the series for me. The old combat was not great or anything but it was at least decently fun, turn based is just a horribly boring slog.
Most of the side content in Lost Judgment was really bad, so I'm worried they're going to continue this quantity of quality approach.
imagine still wanting Kiryu to be the protag. Y4, 5, 0, 7, and judgement prove that Kiryu is an ass protagonist
>>Uncle Phil's tendrils all over the franchise
literally all they're doing is paying to actually have a version of the game developed for Xbox. I don't even like microdick but there's nothing particularly insidious about this.
>Anons hated LIKE A KINO DRAGON
I loved it.
I didn't hate it, I just vastly prefer bmup combat.
Fuck off
They said they would be continuing with turn-based so why are you acting like its an "if"?
Found it, bad news. videogameschronicle.com
It was Sato that wanted to release them (ishin would be remastered tho) but now that he left with nagoshi it is less likely.
Still there is a chance we'd see them on the niconico livestream because of the fight for having judgements released on pc
Because Judgment is dead now and sometimes people say things that change later.
Most people did.
Most people don't even know yakuza exists.
>judgement games on pc never
Fucking out of touch boomers, just keel over and die already.
And good news segabits.com
In 2018 there was a poll made by SEGA after releasing Kiwami 2 where there questions about wanting to buy/play remasters of 3-5 etc, and seeing how those released SEGA knows people want to play them.
All we can do now is either wait or play on a emulator with the tranny mod translations for which you need to join their discords
I liked it but won't deny that the combat just wasn't that good, and this is coming from someone who really, really likes turn based games.
Are you from 2008?
There are more people in the world literally starving to death than know what Yakuza is. Think about that.
How there can be more people starving to death if they are starving to death
Did I hear your feefees queerbait?
Because they have not starved to death yet, they are merely in the process of starving to death.
>but won't deny that the combat just wasn't that good
Weird thing to say when it was practically the most functional combat Yakuza ever had.
The beat em up combat was never, and I can only emphasize this again: NEVER well designed.
It was barely functional. Normal enemies were never ever a threat, and literally programmed to attack you when you are attacking so they can even get some hits in. Depending on the game you can literally stand around doing nothing for up to 30seconds before an enemy even attacks you as long as you don't attack yourself.
And then there's bosses that had to break all the game's rules, ignore your attacks/mechanics to be even be remotely difficult.
A combat design that is on one end laughably easy and on the other, has to ignore half the mechanics to pose a challenge, is not, by any margin, a good combat.
Like a Dragon is the first game in the entire franchise where combat was actually more than just an afterthought that felt like its only in the game because it needs "something". More than just "getting it out of the way" material.
Enemies were actually able to do some damage.
I totally understand liking one over the other based on stylistic preference. But if you wanna talk about "good combat" then the original combat isn't even eligible to be mentioned in that discussion.
Didn't even read your second post because It was obviously autistic ramblings from an anti
>hear
Yup, you're mad.
meant for
>tfw we didn't get to build our own Dragon in Y7 with most of Ichibans moveset being customizable
I genuinely think an option to play Y8 as a beat em up or an RPG would be really cool. I loved the RPG mechanics but using Freelancer made me want to directly control Ichi and fight as him.
Ultimately though I want them to just stick with RPG combat and refine it.
>No Nagoshi
You say that like he did anything significant for the series other than Judgment in the past 10 years
btw the nips still hate him
youtu.be
Im more excited for the nfl draft
geez
Yokohama sucks. If they're going to reuse it they need to add a lot more interiors to explore.
Yeah. Hope they made the city more lively though. It was a big downgrade compared to Kamurocho
I love how female legs look in Yakuza 7 and Lost Judgement. Also if they ever make another Judgement game I hope Amasawa comes back, I loved that goofy little shit.
hopefully by now the devs have actually played Y7 and realized how shit it was.
I like it almost as much as 0. It's kino
I don't usually enjoy turn based rpgs but I found the combat in Y7 super fun. Exactly why is it considered bad ?
>kiwami 3
>tfw 3 has my favorite combat feeling in the series and I unironically love the enemies constantly blocking
My biggest complain is everything that has to do with positioning.
You have ZERO control over how your characters move in battle despite so many things depending on it.
>try to attack an enemy, your character decides to path next to another enemy and gets hit, interrupting your move
>AOE attacks that don't hit everything like the Kiwami skills are useless past turn 1 since enemies just move randomly and don't stick together
it somehow felt bloated and barebones at the same time
Agreed. It has a huge footprint, but it feels super sterile compared to Kamurocho. It’s too empty and clean. Hopefully they give it a face lift for the next one.
It had potential but the battle system was poorly balanced. Most fights were piss easy and occasionally you ran into something that actually required a semblance of strategy. They could knock it out of the park if they fix this.
>hate beat em up and like turn-based combat
>the combat in LAD is so bland I'd rather be button mashing again
Make a fucking prequel of the Yakuza glory days before Kiryu and where you play as Kazuma, faggots. Maybe show you still care about the series by researching and creating a new setting rather than reusing the same assets and rehashing the "uhhh Yakuza is dying" plot
Seriously. Who doesn't want to fuck around in 1960's Kamurocho getting up to all kinds of shit? Also stop with the fucking two map system. Just focus on making Kamurocho good and full of shit to do and make a small side area like Osaka. I fucking hated Yokohama.
it feels too soon
No, I played Yakuza 1 - 5 over the course of 3 months last year and still need to go through 0, 6 and 7.
Hard to tell, really.
Turn based combat was cool experiment but it was made in too simple way and got stale towards the end when I already tried most of classes, I liked beat em up better.
Ichiban is cool protagonist so I'm actually interested what they will do moving forward, most of the new minigames were fun but real estate was excel shit garbage and I hope it won't come back
I also hope we will get judgement on pc finally after stadia exclusivity period
>dead souls was a huge flop that turned them away from the english market for a while
Ain't true, man. SEGA were in a rough spot at that time.
it's time for the glorious return of Tsukimino
you're a clown if you think RGG is gonna make a game where you play as a murderer
