Isn't it a very bad design to have a rotor or propeller on the end of the ship angled like that?
Why would the combine do that?
Isn't it a very bad design to have a rotor or propeller on the end of the ship angled like that?
>expecting a artist to understand aeronautical engineering
It's just works
Just trim it out bro
the creature can fly on it's own, the rotor is just there for maneuverability
it's combine magic I aint gotta explain shit
tranny "game"
The design is cool. For some reason it reminds me of old mangas, like Appleseed and those from that time.
That's what the counterweight is for you retard.
it's just a tail rotor for atmospheric maneuverability, the gunship uses anti-gravity engines or some shit
Still better than that shotgun in fallout3
I think you're confused about which direction the thrust goes.
They seem organic in nature, maybe the front half naturally flies and they added the blades on the back to even it out so it could fly better
Please step next to the red barrel :)
I wish more of the weird organic-augmented shit made its way into HL2 beyond the gunships and Striders.
one can dream...
fuck it, this is now a half-life concept art thread
I want mommy combine to straddle me.
says the troon
I want an assassin to just fucking kill me with those thighs.
a lot of early city 17 concepts remind me of dark city, if anyone here has seen it.
Everything in HL2 was awfully designed, horrendous Bulgarian setting and flesh machiens/enemies.
Isn't it a very retarded to complaint about the design of a literal alien gunship ?
Why are /k/fags like this ?
>horrendous Bulgarian setting and flesh machiens/enemies.
that's just what i like
Pretty sure there are also jets under the torso. No idea why it needed the rotor to be honest.
I'm surprised there is no porn of this or that spider thingy
>puny human brains think they know better than their Combine overlords
How long did that war last again?
don't accuse us of this shit, it's strictly a Yea Forums thing to be 'ironically' pedantic to this degree
Red barrel for ants
I'm pretty sure /k/fags coom to the Combine troops and most of their equipment.
>cool gas masks
>comfy boots
>no retarded shoulder pads
>glorious 4.6mm
this is the dumbest gunblade i've ever seen
Its a biomechanical bug with a machine gun for a face. I'm not gonna question it.
what would be the point of making it so retarded
I think bmj did some great work with the half life alien designs.
To this day people act like the beta was some kind of better game that we got robbed of. It's literally the same game, just at night.
I like the machine gun face part, it actually makes total sense in a Combine way when you think about it.
>biological bug parts already turn and look at things it considers dangerous or a threat
>rig up a big gun to those moving parts
>don't have to worry about figuring out how to make the gun itself move or identify targets
something something sufficiently advanced technology something magic
yeah... no
why would the combine use a jar of rat bodies as a computer? cause it's a stupid game
fighting through a gigantic black site laboratory complex during a catastrophic happening against ayys, environment and military including tanks and helicopters >>>>> fighting against some human looking ayys and some whale gunship in bulgaria
its fine
the rotor is at the center of mass
>car only has wheels on one side
>lmao don't be so pedantic
Does remind me of Dark City but HL2 would be completely forgettable if it looked like this, so many PC games from that era look like this
The day time eastern europe look is what makes HL2 interesting
yeah
Most of the gunship body is a hollow sack filled with lighter than air gases, the heavy rotor engine would be the center of mass of this vehicle
dark city is my favorite movie
>cringe 4.6 instead of based 5.7
That's weird. The creature doesn't yaw around the rotor but around approximately its center.
>ACK
>Not ACK*BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP*PSHH Yellow 2 unit deserviced, remaining units contain
about lore, so basically the combine is looking for the borealis?
are the rebels looking for it too? if yes, why? wouldnt the combine just kill everyone once the teleportation/portal method is something well known?
The Combine seems to only be interested in Borealis because the rebels are in the first place.
There are some suggestions that the portal technology behind borealis may be more advanced than what Combine currently has, as they still have to bounce shit off Xen, but I don't think that really matters to them all that much.
The issue is that the Rebels may try to use Borealis against the Combine, and while they are hardly being threatened on an existential level, obviously they would rather curb any potential troubles or annoyances as quickly as they can.
Didn't Laidlaw's posts indicate that humans will lose against the Combine?
It's common fucking sense
>Didn't Laidlaw's posts indicate that humans will lose against the Combine?
Lidlaw's post implied that humanity can't defeat combine, which is slightly different matter. Not to mention, the story was only invented in a way that can be interpreted as a cliffhanger of sorts, leaving them some wiggle room for potential sequels.
The story was supposed to go that Gordon and Alyx reach the Borealis, and teleport themselves to the homeworld of the Combine - where they discover that the Combine operates out of a fucking Dyson Sphere, and are just far too great of an enemy to simply "defeat" by some heroic act.
However, the implication was also that it was possible to find a way sever Combine's portal network on earth (something they have been working on since the OG HL2 game) giving humanity a chance to survive, or at least buy us some time.
The fact that there still was G-Man and his whole "interested party" which was never explained by Lidlaw, and the fact that the supposed end of HL3 was to only show the sheer scale of Combine, and end at that point, indicated that the story didn't have to be completely concluded there.
