>64
is it good?

Finally playing Nightmare Reaper now that it's out and I'm highly disappointed. The shooting is great but the rng elements, bad balancing, and procedurally generated levels really cheapens the experience. It doesn't offer any of the risk/reward of a real roguelike and the lack of well designed levels really starts to drag. I'm near the end of episode 2. I hope it gets better in episode 3 but right now it's bloated and boring.
Gabriel Watson
yeah it's great
Ayden Rivera
It's the best Doom game aside from Eternal
Sebastian Reed
I havent played it but I heard its good. Its actually a sequel and not just a port but cause of the gay naming convention for 64 they had to call it doom 64. Its got the dark creepier atmosphere of doom 3 but the same gameplay as one and two, its very strange.
Camden Butler
No, it's kind of like the worst elements of Doom and Marathon fused together.
Zachary Hill
thanks gonna try it out
Gavin Smith
This one time I spilled baked beans all over myself playing Red Faction 2 in a LAN cafe & a black teenager shouted 'this nigga eating beans' & everyone laughed.
Blake Allen
why was there a back person in a lan cafe?
Colton Murphy
Blacks are always at computer cafes because they can't save enough money to buy their own

HROT.
But that is because the game is incredibly specifically made to appeal to people like me. It's not that amazing gameplay-wise, but the atmosphere, the injokes, references and overal tone are just PERFECT.
I also enjoyed Hedon for it's amazing fucking level design, Dusk was overal really well designed, and I was surprised by how fun Serious Sam 4 and Syberian Mayhem turned out.
And if we want to go into mainstream gaming - I guess HL2, FEAR, Black Mesa and Doom Eternal were my favorites over the past two decades.

Did you think this was a "gotcha"? It's fucking amazing in 2022 with a sourceport. No FPS has given me the intensity and thrill of victory like Quake. Perfect movement, weapons that each fulfill different purposes, and an aggressive enemy roster. It's got rocket jumping, grenade jumping, quad rampages, secret hunting, everything. The soundtrack and overall atmosphere is unforgettable as well. How the fuck is it boring?
Dylan Ross
man all of these games are really fucking shitty. good for the time but when i play them again it really isnt fun
Christopher Torres
Only retro shooters that I care for today are Doom, Heretic, Hexen and Duke. Turok is also pretty cool. Besides that fuck the rest tbqh.
Thomas Long
Been playing ashes 2063 and this stuff is VERY high quality. I wonder why they haven't monetized this TC
Joseph Powell
Played Doom 64 just recently. Shocked to find out that I didn't have almost any fun. Doom is still a well designed and fluid game, and an absolute landmark classic, but it's so limited.
On the other hand I calibrated myself with Quake right afterwards, and that game was still a blast.
Wyatt Ramirez
The space bases are mediocre, but eventually it gets better later on with more open levels rather than corridors. If you enjoy Doom 1 and 2 then you ought to play Doom 64. There are a few changes as well... you will figure it out on your own.
Mason Ward
64 was so fucking good. A shame that it was too easy thanks to the absence of Revenants and Archviles.
Mason Perry
Youre not him, youre his brother uggo mcbrownicus.

GZDoom total conversions are unironically the best FPS games I've been playing lately, paid or otherwise. Doom: The Golden Souls genuinely trades blows with actual N64 platformers I grew up with in my opinion.
Blake Johnson
you played any of the golden souls? Its Mario DooM but its got its own nice shit. GS1 has a hub area and the levels are paintings like m64 but 2 has a world map like 3 and world. They're also making gs3 but its not done yet, just a demo. Its also got some fucking nice bonus maps like in 1 theres a starry night map like van gogh.

WHERE IS THE FUCKING DEMO YOU JAPANESE FUCK
Jordan Campbell
I really like 64, which surprised me immensely because for years I wrote it off as a port of doom 1 for the N64 (who the fuck thought that name was a good idea?), but tried it out a few years ago and really enjoyed it
I think it's a better overall package than Final Doom (TNT drags the whole thing down), and it's levels are much better designed than a lot of Doom 1's episode 2 and 3
highly recommended, it's got the gameplay of Doom 2 with the atmosphere of Doom 3 and it works strangely well, the music especially is extremely dark and atmospheric for the hell levels

Both Ashes are fucking amazing. Years since I had so much fun with a fps game. I don't think there is really a noticeably weak thing about it.
And the soundtrack, that fucking soundtrack. Incredible stuff.

I just want a mod that lets me pick and choose monsters to use.
D4V summoners and pinkies with Doom 64 enemies would be great.
