Input reading turns this from a 9/10 game to a 7/10 game. Objectively bad game design
Input reading turns this from a 9/10 game to a 7/10 game. Objectively bad game design
Also, Open World for some reason as well as shitty bosses.
It's not the games fault you haven't realized you can't feignt out of most attacks
Did their past games have input reading?
Rent free
the x/10 rating is literally worthless because 'people' only take into account the last 4 numbers
Its 0/10 for being total shit
Or what they like or don't like. It's all bias bullshit
Get gud faget
well just for that snarky comment, Elden Ring is now a 5/10. fuck You
elden ring may be goty but fun it aint, most have dropped this garbage.
input reading is only a problem when every one of your inputs are read and instantly countered, like fighting game bosses do. if AI did not input read, they would not be able to react to you whatsoever. ER does not have any egregious examples of this, the black fireball that gets posted so many times is very easily dodged.
It's just stupid seeing humanoid bosses roll spam at every swing you throw out then tney follow up with some anime combo
>nooo i need to be able to spam rolls with no punish just like BB and DS3. It's my safe space button you see :(
Games fekkin shite.
Nah, its fine.
I don't know how you can defend a boss doing nothing for 5 seconds straight but the second you take a sip he'll go fucking retarded and rush at you. That is not how enemies should act
IDK seems like a logical thing to do to me
Most of the bullshit wouldn't be that bad if you could cancel animations and if the game didn't suffer from input lag.
I've yet to see a good complaint about this that is anything more than a vague "i think it looks/feels weird". It isn't unfair and you have all the tools to prevent being punished for poor timing.
Why not? You can't move while healing, seems like the perfect time to attack. I attack the NPC invaders when they go for sips.
It's the perfect fucking opening to attack you retard
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
THE FUCKING STOVE IS INPUT READING
FUCK FUCK FUCK WHY CANT I LAY MY HAND ON IT WHENEVER I WANT
AAAAAAAAAAAA
BAD GAME DESIGN!
Enemies have 20 meter back dashes. You're never able to reach them.
I'm developed this cool strat where I run up to enemies that run away and smack them. I use the O button.
>enemies dodging on cast
use invisible sorceries
>but I'm a faith u-
sucks to suck
>enemies attacking on sip
heal on an attack opening
could it have been implemented better? absolutely
is it possible to work around it? definitively
If you want to make the absolutely retarded argument of "enemies would use that opportunity to attack in real life", in real life, YOU WOULDN'T BE FUCKING STUCK DRINKING A POTION, YOU COULD STOP AND MOVE AWAY INSTEAD.
I didn't make that argument, you seem to be confused. Who are you quoting?
have you tried making space before you heal
spoiler alert idiot: the computer reads ALL you inputs, thats how it fucking works.
now fuck off, I have to invade in stormveil.
why is this input output machine making an output for my input? WTF?
The enemy looks broken and it's a lazy way of making a fight harder. You know how fucking stupid it feels when you're anticipating the enemy to instantly attack you the EXACT moment you heal? It ruins the flow of fights and it makes the enemy look fucking poorly coded. Yes, the enemy looking weird is a valid argument. I can't even think of another game with input reading this bad. It doesn't help that enemies in this game almost never fucking stop attacking and the moment they do they're apparently just waiting around for you to start healing, apparently
Ok, in a video game, if my opponent is recovering or in any state where they cannot punish me for attacking, I would say that's a good time to attack.
I think tracking is much more annoying than input reading
Yeah, but I'm not dumb and have the powers of pattern recognition. If an enemy attacks when I heal, I just get further away or heal when they're recovering from some other attack.
>You can heal during openings in melee
>Using proper spacing at range gives you the ability to dodge possible punishes.
Would it kill people to actually learn how to play the fucking game, instead of constantly griping about bad habits that i ditched around 10-20 hours of gameplay? You people are a fucking disgrace
More vague statements. What is lazy about it? Why does it feel broken to you, and why does you personally finding it weird correlate with this being an objective negative? If you can't think of another game with truly bad input reading, play Mortal Kombat singleplayer. Enemies in this game have gaps in their hitboxes, like Godrey/Hoarah Loux that let you get hits in during their combo if you position yourself correctly. Godrey's axe can miss you entirely and you can lock Hoarah Loux into a combo chain.
NOO THE ENEMY CAN'T RESPOND TO MY ACTIONS
HE'S SUPPOSED TO USE MOVES COMPLETELY RANDOMLY LIKE A BRAINDEAD RETARD
>use slow to cast spell
>enemies dodge before it casts
>always hit
git gud
It's not even the fact the game has input reading, but rather the fact that it doesn't do it logically, with the enemy being able to read inputs in between other attacks and regardless of line of sight. Perhaps it wouldn't be so bad if the combat wasn't based around move commitment. I mean, if I can't cancel out of a flurry of attacks into another attack, the enemy shouldn't possess the ability either.
Personally, it doesn't ruin the game, yet it was immersion-breaking and quite stupid with how robotically it was implemented.
Sekiro has it really badly. Try to heal and the enemy will have switched move before the menu has even finished fading out.
It's not literally about how it's programmed, it's the fact that it's instant with no simulated reaction delay- even for bosses that aren't otherwise all that fast.
It's an unwelcome reminder that you're "fighting" a pile of code instead of a person/monster/whatever. Ideal AI would be hard to distinguish from a good human player.
I really do think if this game wasn't made by FromSoftware the blatant fucking awful input reading would not be defended this much and would be actively made fun of. It's baffling that there are people justifying this. Some people even going as far to say "well that's the LOGICAL thing to do" when if you've played the game for more than 5 minutes you understand enemies do not act logically when you press a button. They will spaz out, instantly break from an animation, examples shown of them just jumping off cliffs.
What this guy said about it feeling "robotic" is true. . It worsens the combat and breaks immersion. Isn't it weird that games with much better and much more complex combat don't have to rely on such egregious input reading? This is a clear issue that you're just ignoring
If you want to blindly accept this and defend this, go ahead
The argument is in the context of the game you fucking idiot, you attack when the guard is down, like when winding down after a combo, or for the enemy, when you sip cum
Should the habits be punished? Yes. Should they be punished in the most lazy, fucking stupid way? No. At least let the heal animation play to a point where it's obvious what you're doing before the boss decides to use "fuck your healing.mov".
>Sip when you would normally attack or when enemy is too far to hit you with their anti-sip move
Wow so hard. How many times did crucible knight fuck you?
More like a 7/10 game becomes a 5/10. Anyone claiming that Elden Ring is good on any objective metric is still bargaining.
This. It looks a lot more bullshit and janky when a boss is literally mid swing and they just turn 90 degrees and hit you anyway because you were an attosecond early on your roll.
You do understand that the bosses can't switch to "fuck your healing.mov", if they're busy doing something else? Melee gets away with this by healing during openings (the same time you could also be doing damage) and ranged players need to simply be slightly more careful with spacing. That's literally all it is. No amount of input reading will fix a boss being unable to punish a ranged player due to projectile/movement having it's wind up or winding down from a punishable move. You're being retarded.
Objectively filtered more like.
You sound like a Shazam-tard.
That might be an argument if half the move list for most enemies wasn't a gap closer.
>Caelid birds fucking fake stance breaks and instantly grab you if you try to close in
Lmao at people defending being able to control enemy movement by pressing the drink juice button. You’re so fucked in the head if you try to weasel in a defense for something hilarious.
Some bosses will actually sit there and do nothing if you stand there. It's weird.
Not entirely true. Margitt was combo-ing Rogier and turned 90 degrees to throw a dagger at me when I healed. He continued to combo Rogier after this. I was standing near the middle of the arena while they were at the entrance btw.
The delayed attacks remind me of real life boxing feints. One boxer bites on every feint with a slip and get blasted with a real punch after his head returns back to the centre line. This reminds me of the great filtering of Sekiro, in 2019. Shit is hilarious.
For melee there is no need to gap close, as you're staying close to begin with. If you're constantly trying to put space between yourself and the boss as melee (unless you need to take distance to avoid mechanics), you're already fucking up from step 1. Ranged players on the other hand now have to deal with most enemies actually having answers to ranged tactics and healing at range is riskier than in earlier games. In it's current iteration, there is nothing wrong with how the boss punishes retards for being retarded.
>Objectively bad design because the boss doesn't let me spam heal like a retard
cant believe the game responds to my actions makes me sick
It is smart. The pressure is on you to move or you don't progress.
Play an old fighting game to see what cancerous input reading truly was
i don't play video games i watch them retart
if you get hit once for trying to heal, maybe common sense would tell you to use a different tactic instead of button mashing to heal again and getting punished again?
it just sounds like you're bad, it's basic pattern recognition and there's more shit to complain about in this game than enemies hard punishing you for locking yourself into an animation directly in front of them
>the enemy being able to read inputs in between other attacks
never happens
>'s an unwelcome reminder that you're "fighting" a pile of code instead of a person/monster/whatever.
thats you having autism, not the game having an issue
>Ideal AI would be hard to distinguish from a good human player.
shut the fuck up retard
id want nothing more less than a fucking boss fight that feels like doing pvp against a metashitter in these games
the only enemy that I can think of that does this substantially is Margit/Morgott with his instant dagger throws/swipes and changing his attacks based on how close you currently are to him
All Souls games have input reading.
yeah thats not input reading though
like you said, its based on your positioning
if anything i found that to be huge improvement over the previous games, bosses having mix ups or extended combos depending how you space makes the fights feel more dynamic and your approach actually making a difference how they play
Nah, pulling the chain that says take sippies and having it always pull the enemy lunge attack as well is just cramped, inorganic design. Instead of having a sword fight you’re cheesing terrible AI.
It feels overwhelming at first, until you get into it and come up with a solution of your own to the bullshit the game throws at you. To anyone who wants to have a good time, this is going to be very basic, but hear me out. Nothing in the game is cheesing. You aren't climbing a ladder system where the more "honest" you are, the better your ranking is. Challenges in this game, outside of what you initially run into by learning movesets are self-imposed. Don't ruin the game for yourself by whining when you have ways to go get around every problem in the game sans buggy shit like the Godskin Noble's roll at times.
cool that you have meaningless buzzwords that mean nothing to throw around, me, im a fan of organic biological design in videogame codes
if you feel you are cheesing an AI, then its you know, your approach being shit i reckon as i can not say i felt something like that even with enemies that literally do not even react to your actions like the chariots
try saying literally anything that isnt "muh feelings" and buzzwords
Are you having a fucking stroke? Seek therapy retard.
All games have input reading, how do you think the game knows that you pressed a button? lmao, Yea Forums is so dumb.
