Why did ARMS flop?

It didn't

no one knew it existed it needs more porn

Because it was on a console nobody gave a shit about. Smash only did well on bings because of the big names. Literal whos don't matter to faggots that don't play fighting games.

>"a console nobody gave a shit about"
I know Yea Forums hates it but that's just not true at all.

Fighting games are already niche and Nintendo fans are especially ill-equipped to understand them. I fucking saw people complaining that there was no adventure or exploration elements in ARMS, I'm not kidding.

People who play and like fighting games don't buy Nintendo consoles for the fighting games. This limits the demographic.

It sold over 2 million
Anything that sells over 1 million is a success, unless the developers can't budget

It didn't have a leg to stand on.

>Game is called ARMS
>Introduces the sexiest legs in gaming

What did Nintendo mean by this?

Sold under 2 million is consider a flop for AAA game with tons of Nintendo marketing

It's a nintendo game. Those sell 10 million just from parents buying anything new by them for their retarded children. It's a flop.

Shit forgot pic

What's it's selling points?
>Waifu power
>Made by nintendo
>???

It just doesn't have any substance behind it, or if it did, it didn't communicate that. It doesn't sell any particular fantasy or style, it doesn't have interesting game play, and it isn't competitive or difficult.

See, that's reasonable and acceptable, why not say something like that instead of making yourself look like a complete buffoon?

Do you expect them to be sturdy when they are coiled ribbons?

Nintendo is a huge publisher m8, not everything they put out is an evergreen

reminder that spring man was robbed

It means legchad runs this game

Our time will cum twintelle bros

No one liked the game, it's not fun.

but it is fun

their arms don't have any muscle or structure of course they would flop

No, people didn't even look at the game long enough to see if it was fun. It's uninteresting and that's a shame because it has great fuel for my amputee fetish

It only sold well because it was a new IP on a hot new platform that was starving for new games. The playerbase dropped dramatically once Splatoon 2 and Smash Ultimate came out.

A shame because high level ARMS play is usually extremely aggressive and fast paced.

It sold 2.4m, which is a totally fine number for a brand new fighting game series. It outsold Mario Golf and Yoshi's Crafted World

I've put over a hundred hours into it, it's by far my favorite fighting game

It never goes on sale and it doesn't get updated so it doesn't attract new players. I bought it on sale in January and before that, it was only on sale when Min Min was added to Smash Bros. I think the game is fun and it has good netcode and a creative public lobby system for randoms that don't want to play ranked (or in this game's case, when matchmaking is too slow.)

>Kirby flopped
>FE3H flopped
>XC2 flopped
>Mario Maker 2 flopped
>Paper Mario flopped
kys

>Mario Golf and Yoshi's Crafted World
Both flops.

Is thumbs-up grip just a meme? Is the ability to control each arm individually worth the hassle of motion controls? If not, I'll just stick to using my solo + joycon

I think we just have different definitions of the word flop. I'll rephrase mine too reduce confusion.
ARMS was reasonably profitable and enjoyed a thriving matchmaking scene for the duration of its major events

It's distinctly the better way to play as long as you have the physical stamina

Shitty controls

shitty player

I think it did pretty well

>AAA game
>looks like a moblie game
where did the budget go? is this a laundering scheme? someone needs to check Nintendo's Taxes

You can do huge grabs if you use motion controls. There was at least three high level players in the west who used motion so it's definitely not a meme.

It didn't. ARMS sold over 2 million hard copies despite being a new IP and a fighting game.
Splatoon just set a really high bar, that's all. They probably wanted it to sell way higher despite that being an unrealistic goal.

Because it lacked a proper story mode fleshing out the world and the characters.

There was supposed to be a comic, but the company Nintendo hired flaked out.

All they needed to do is put some fucking illustrations in the actual game about the daily life of the characters and what they did after winning the tournament, like you know, a classic fighting game ending? Something Street Fighter or KoF did 30 years ago? It's not that hard. Turns out people need to care about the characters in a fighting game in order to invest time in them.

I unironically think the focus on waggle in marketing killed it, it ensured none of the fgc niggers would give it the time of day

it should also have been updated more than it did, it needed more characters and more mechanics to reach its full potential (which I unironically think is pretty great, there's a genuinely interesting game in here)

ARMS didn't flop. They just need to release a sequel with a bit more depth, better online modes, and an expansive singleplayer campaign and they'll do even better.

>amputee fetish

They aren't amputees though. Those are their actual arms.

You guys are a small minority, most people think it's boring or have no idea what it is.

>ARMS is the closest we will get to a new Virtua On.

Attached: 1546055562124.jpg (946x1200, 165.31K)

it's a very boring game and I regret buying it. it's just so fucking boring and repetitive and unlocking shit is god awful and slow.

It has the same aesthetic, and similar disempowerment appeal considering their arms aren't good for much more than fighting. A character with spring arms would still need help with normal life.
Also the idea of a girl giving up her human arms to have springs implanted so she can compete is incredibly hot.

>considering their arms aren't good for much more than fighting
They can coil their arms all the way back and use them as normal, but if you remove their mask they're helpless so I guess it still works.

Source? I know next to nothing about arms lore beyond what you would know from watching any game play and the smash trailer.

It can't be that the bad is bad or poorly designed in any way. Nintendo games are perfect, especially Switch ones.

>Why did ARMS flop?
When you cook pastas they become less firm.

Well this one is perfect, anyway

I found this armswiki.org/wiki/ARMS_(extendable)

There's lore stuff in the game but I can't be fucked to load it up right now.
