Borderlands writing

Is there any gearbox jokes that actually got a chuckle out of you?

No

no, didn't play any long enough

bl 2 the presequel had a rare shotgun quest reward that yes made me laugh hard. you get 4 people using it in co op you will eventually too.

>hey its me roland lets go defeat handsome jack and then we'll all go out for milkshakes

thats about it

in half life opposing force

The Torgue DLC had one.
>What the fuck is a ref?

the last good gearbox game

Mostly the New-U station lines.

Borderlands 1 and 2 writing was always just cute to me and admittedly gets some laughs out of me at points
It just tries to establish a fun setting and its very comfortable playing with friends, it also helps that they have great gameplay

this was good
always gets me

Has some funny stuff buried under mountains of shit.

Playing as Claptrap in the presequel was pretty fun.

I found the first two games hilarious when they were new, but I feel like their style of humor became overused in recent years. So they just annoy me now. At least they're good games to play while listening to music.

Mostly enemy deathrattles.
The left-handed gun joke was also pretty good, shame the polar opposite could be said about the rest of 3 Zane aside

The problem with Borderlands after 1 is, is that if you didn't play it at release; then you're going to cringe at every "joke". It's like a time capsule to every pathetic meme of that time period

Not even played the game but in Tiny Tina's Dragon thingy when he's not shouting about trans rights or whatever the fuck bullshit they got my boy Hercule saying, Torgue literally blows up the fucking ocean, which is a pretty funny way to make you able to cross it.

don't care randy
still not playing tiny tina shitland

Claptrap almost getting raped in Wonderlands was funny and unexpected as much of an SJW fantasy it is.

Why was the first game free from this shit? This is why I only cared about BL1. I have no interest in these other games.

there was a bit where a psycho comes down and slow claps after a boss fight and that gve me and my friend a chuckle. i meleed him and he started clapping and walking faster and that made us laugh

No, even when the first or second released and I was like 15 I found that "humour" so cringy, and I was fucking cringy myself back then

the cursed gun in BL2

Only one I remember is pic related. It's dumb, but somehow feels different from all other dumb jokes in those games.
Also, not really joke or anything, but Claptrap's "goodbye travelers" from last BL1's DLC kinda burned in my mind for some reason.

The Morningstar Rifle. That's the only actually funny thing in any of the games. I like how it makes fun of preachy moralfaggots.

>Maybe he was just having a bad day!
He is now, with that hole I shot through him.

The stairs joke at the end of BL2 would have been funny as fuck, if Claptrap didn't ruin it by screaming and explaining the joke.

UNDEAD NED
HOLY F*#KING SHIT

The side quest in 3 where you get invited to a dead kid's birthday party and then you proceed to dunk on the dead kids high scores in front of her dad all while Mordecai tells you stop being a prick.

there was a basketball side quest that i think was in the presequel that had me laughing pretty hard

In 3, when Troy says their bandit masks were preorder bonuses, that got a chuckle out of me. Only time in the entire game, not sure why I even found it so funny.

Thanks for bringing this pain into my life.

________ is my middle name! Zane ________ Flynt.
What's his middle name again?

yes but it's not funny in the english version of the game

Inspirational posters. It's one of the first 3 sidequest. Love how claptrap is the only person happy to be there

3's throwaway enemy dialogue was surprisingly much more entertaining than any of the game's actual dialogue

All the stuff that makes me laugh is funny for the wrong reasons. Zer0's edgy haiku's for example.

No, What's on second

I like when Gaige makes cumming noises, that was the best part of the Borderlands series

If they cut out the shit jokes and toned down the lolsorandumb characters the actually good ones would be memorable

The amount of shit jokes in 3 is absurd. Think one of the writers had a scat fetish.
Basedness aside, it gets old.

I played through Borderlands 3 with my friend and we both nearly died of laughter at the end when Girl on Fire plays for the credits. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard at a videogame before, but obviously we were assuming that it was sincere and not a joke.

The first game virtually lacks a plot.

It has the most grounded (and probably best) writing because it has the least.

You should. Turn dialogue to 0 and enjoy the gameplay

I love to find such cases of autism on YT commentaries

are there patches to skip all the dialogue and cut scene shit in 3 yet
i just want to shoot people

I remember getting a chuckle out of General Knoxx and all his audiologs about working for a five year old and wanting to kill himself.

This is just a kid or an autistic person

Zane was the only redeemable thing about 3

Gotta be a kid

Impossible. If Randy ever gets a chuckle out of me it's ogre

Youtube comments are a goldmine for autistic people saying embarrassing shit. Look deep into the comments of a vidya song or some shit, some of it doesn't even feel human

I audibly chuckled at that one rare machine gun in BL2 that screams when you shoot, some people find it annoying but I really liked it for some reason. The staircase joke with Claptrap got me good aswell.

the series' comedy peaked with Claptrap's birthday party if you ask me, though Jack paying you to kill yourself also got a chuckle out of me.

On one hand i want to call the writing cringe, on the other it seems like the most appropriate kind of writing for a videogame about collecting shiny things and shooting stuff. It's almost meta, the game knows it's just a silly little game, it's not trying to be funny but absurdist.

But if the writers actually thought the writing was supposed to be funny, that's unparalleled autism. Like, invader zim multiplied by 2 or 3 levels of autism.

i liked to play as the robot whore

Nearly the entirety of the borderlands series is blocked from my memory. The only things I remember are the intro of BL1 and Tales from the Borderlands being kino, Tannis saying she'd fuck you, krieg screaming something about a meat bycicle, moxxi's gun being useable to masturbate, and yeah, Handsome Jack paying you to kill yourself.

Rest is all gone in an ambiguous memelands rant. Perhaps for the better. Such a shame because 1 showed potential as a space western setting before they threw it out the window.

Same.

I wish they would have gone full absurdist ala Cruelty Squad/E.Y.E., maybe then it would have been good instead of the mess it became.

No, that would be Aliens: Infestation.

Jack and more importantly, his voice actor, are the sole thing that saved the game.

This shit got me

Both absolutely amazing games too.
Borderlands being absurdist for the type of game it is would have been perfect. All the characters come off as deranged, that could be a big cool aspect of the game... but instead it's taken at face value.

Spoonmind

That one quest where you have to call a guy a dick in order to fulfill a dead guy's will

I laughed at the raisin cookies joke and that was it

>NOW I'M DEAD ON THE OUTSIDE TOO
Also the part in 3 where the Twins are announcing the winner of the murder poll and Claptrap says "damn it!" whenever he got second place got a chuckle out of me.

They did like 6 years ago. Borderlands 2 was honestly funny, but that type of humor stopped being funny by the time 3 came out, didn't help 3 was a total trainwreck in comparison to 2.

Brick as Himself
thats about it

Jack seems to be the only well written character,
Jack in 2 was funny because unlike everyone else you ARE supposed to hate him so him being obnoxious worked in its favor.
His body double in the presequel was also great but for an entirely different reason. This Jack played as a straightman who reacted to the insanity of the world around him realistically which helped make some of the really bad and cringey jokes in that game be somewhat better since you see him react with the same level of confusion and frustration.

They really fucked themselves over killing him off.

>Tales From the Borderlands 2 finally gets announced
>Made entirely by Gearbox so it will have the dogshit writing and dialogue of the mainline games

Attached: 1640561304324.jpg (512x384, 27.43K)

He's honestly not even that annoying. The delivery of all his lines are perfect, especially near the end when he starts going completely insane. Gearbox got lucky with him in 2.

Occasionally, I'm not afraid to admit it's funny sometimes. I'll just list a few that I enjoyed
>Inviting Markus to claptrap's party: HAHAHAHA. No.
>SHOOT ME IN THE FACE
Also this the psycho quotes were pretty enjoyable in that game
