Why can't we just get a Danganronpa killing game without fucking Junko and hope/despair bullshit? Even V3 couldn't avoid them completely.
Why can't we just get a Danganronpa killing game without fucking Junko and hope/despair bullshit...
Isn’t she the main antagonist?
>Even V3 couldn't avoid them completely.
Tsumugi disguising herself as Junko shouldn't count really. She ditches the disguise eventually and pretty much presents herself mainly onwards at the end.
danganronpa is autistic and you should be embarrassed for liking it
>Even V3 couldn't avoid them completely.
Well, spoilers: it was kind of a crucial point in V3, what with it being the 53rd season of the same old shit, and the characters having to stop the boring cycle.
Plus the implication that that Team DGR were milking thr hope vs. despair conflict of the old Danganronpas and the last part of the trial is to stop them from milking it further.
>a Danganronpa killing game without fucking Junko and hope/despair bullshit?
because then it wouldn't be Danganronpa?
Yes, it would. As long as there's high school students trapped somewhere and they're forced to kill each other by a robot teddy bear, it's Danganronpa.
>climax of the series is the protagonist saying "hope and despair is cringe, stop caring"
>it's the most divisive game in the series
Because then it's fucking boring.
The later games suffer from this a bit too, but one of the things that makes the first game so cool is the atmosphere and underlying mystery of what the fuck is going on, it's how it manages to be good despite having arguably the weakest cast and cases, the plot and sense of tension is just so well constructed that it doesn't matter (the effectiveness of the answers the game does give you notwithstanding).
DR2 and V3 don't do this nearly as well, especially since they're mostly just going through the motions, but a game where they don't even try would be far more bland.
I think the first half of all three games are amazing. It's when they inevitable have to hone in on the atrociously shitty overarching plot that they shit the bed. The series just needed a (much) better answer to the question of "what the fuck is going on".
this is something I thought about for a while and I ended up coming with the "death game paradox", which ironically isn't that much of a paradox but still it's a catchy name and gets the point across
the most interesting aspects of death games in my opinion are the character themselves, how they act in this life and death situation, and how they interact and clash with other characters in the same boat, that's the absolute core of any of these stories, if the characters are bland, dumb or boring then nobody is going to care
secondarily the game can be interesting but not by itself, rather it's interesting how the characters are able to interact with the game, possibly finding clever ways around problems, loopholes in established rules or just plain quick thinking to get an advantage on their opponents or the game master itself
and here comes the paradox (which is not really a paradox), all this great stuff has nothing to do with the game itself or its origins, at the same time the game itself is the reason the story even exists in the first place so it's way too important not to address, plus considering how elaborate some scenarios can be it becomes an almost 100% losing battle towards the ending because an explanation that manages to account for that fantastical bullshit will end up fantastical by proxy
a good example of this paradox is alice in borderland, I think it's a good manga with some great moments sprinkled throughout, and the ending addresses this very issue diractly with a big bad character putting forth many possibilities for why the death game exists, maybe time travel? rich people? aliens? some sort of psychological purgatory bullshit? all equally valid but still equally ridiculous I think there are even some of those fingerprints in V3's ending but ultimately the point is how do you even solve the paradox? how do you make a compelling reason for the death game itself if it HAS to be addressed?
>Played Danganronpa 1 & 2 back to back
>Have mental breakdown right afterwards
>Need 6 months off work
These games are too heavy for me man. Fuck Junko
>work
lol go blog about it on reddit, wageslaves not allowed here, Yea Forums is a NEET website
I was also diagnosed with Autism during my 6 months off if that counts?
This especially applies to the first game. After only 3 chapters Hiro goes "Hey guys, I predicted no more murders!"
I'm thinking "Really?", but Sakura was technically a suicide, and then you already have the remaining survivors heavily focusing on its non-sensical story.
Eh I disagree, I think DR1 is honestly pretty strong and it only really falters when it comes to explaining the twists at the very, VERY end, but I think most of the twists themselves, like the memory wipe and the televized program, work really well.
Honestly the first game just has tons of cool setpieces overall, it's so insignificant but I always loved the bit where you're trapped in the garbage dump, it really expands the scope of the game world and makes it feel like you're making some progress in understanding what's going on by putting you in a part of the school you weren't technically meant to see.
But maybe I'm just autistic for thinking that's cool, I dunno.
>V3 still living rent free in Yea Forums's heads
Has a game ever filtered people that hard?
I enjoyed it.
i hated it
We know, user. Mikan's death hit everyone pretty hard.
I'm glad the dyke is dead
play the Tribe 9 gacha
visual novels aren’t vidya
games for little children aren't vidya
Best you could do are fangans but I can't really name one that doesn't include the hope/despair theme
But this is also an adventure game.
a Danganronpa eroge
They really got rid of the three characters I couldn't care less about all at once.
Not the most emotional chapter.
Would Nintendo, Sony, and Valve allow that on their platforms?
You're just mad that toy has more pattern recognition and plays better than whatever 3d person over the shoulder game you like does.
>Nintendo
no
>Valve
yes
>Sony
no
You forgot Microsoft. Danganronpa is also on Xbox now (Game Pass too), but only the first game for some reason.
>Valve
>yes
lmao
didnt hajime do the same thing
Because then that hack Kodaka wouldn't be able to rehash the whole thing yet again.
I'm not, how am I going to have hatesex with her now
You fuck Himiko instead, who is way cuter and funnier + she's still alive.
>fucking Junko
now that's the first thing you've said right
>loli survives
Didn't expect this after they died early in the first 2 games. I know Chihiro is a trap, but still.
because your series is just ace attorney but written for edgy 15 year olds
It's better than the modern Ace Attorney games though. The series really turned to shit after it left the DS.
GAA is better than any Danganronpa game.
because then kodaka would actually have to write above his current ability. the only real fallback is to say you're not really meant to take danganronpa this seriously or pick apart at it like it's some grand literary work, but that's more addressing expectations. it still falls apart narrative-wise either way you slice it.
junko's motivation as the mastermind across the franchise and how it ties into hope/despair is beyond weak as an answer and why the ending just leaves you unsatisfied.
Better than DD and arguably better than AAI1. Absolutely does not stack up to the rest if you ask me and I am a pretty big fan of both series.
>the only real fallback is to say you're not really meant to take danganronpa this seriously or pick apart at it like it's some grand literary work
I don't think that's a good excuse not to try at least a little to break out of the shell that holds the stories of these games back
himikos big lips wrapped around shuichi's dick!
>Gonta's used goods
It absolutely isn't, it's just something I've seen people say over the years. like yeah DR obviously isn't srs bsns but it's still fun to pick at it and see what did/didn't work regardless
Every AA game past Investigations 2 is crap.
t. never played the great ace attorney games
Wait, so why did Junko destroy the entire world, again?
True, but that's because the Layton crossover, DD, and SoJ were all crap, so I don't have any hopes of it being good.
notfairnotfairnotfairnotfair
It's the best thing to come out of the series since T&T.
>Layton Crossover
>SoJ
Are good
>DD
Sucks
Give me your idea for a Danganronpa villain that isn't complete shit and doesn't hinge on Junkowank Yea Forums
I thought new DRV3 was about truth and lies.
SDR2 works as a sequel because it questions the ideas of the first game and puts a new perspective into it, hence how in the climax Hinata realizes that neither H nor D would save them so you just had to wait that "Future" might offer
I will play it then. Hope I enjoy it.
Why can't we just get a Danganronpa killing game fucking Junko?
Based Yosho
did it for the memes
I hope you do user. It's a slow burn at the start since DGS1 takes its time introducing the setting and characters but once it goes into full swing in DGS2 it's awesome.
we aren't going a new danganronpa killing game, retard
Thank you based Shuichi
