Is this game any good, Yea Forumsros? What's the gameplay like?

Oh. Unfortunate
It's probably GOTY of its original release year, but you shouldn't talk about it on Yea Forums, especially if you're planning to buy it.
Someone will post game-ruining spoilers within a few minutes if they haven't already. And then a bunch of /pol/tards who didn't play the game will throw a fit because there's a gay crossdresser character.
Gameplay is simple tower defense but overall it's very good and you should play it. Now leave this thread before you get spoiled.
It's a visual novel. 90% of it is watching a story. Though some people including Sakurai of Smash Bros fame thinks it's the best story a game has ever had. And it won some Japanese awards. But you still need to be open to wanting a story game.
75% VN and 25% RTS. It's GOTY 2020, a masterclass in story telling and intrigue. Gameplay is fun and stylish despite it's simplicity. Highly recommend it
>gay crossdresser character
Lol thanks not gonna get it
Good for you, now never post about it again.
LOL petty bitch!
who is this semen demon?
im like an hour in, but i suck at following names in irl. this is painful for me, but the game seems cool so far.
Your school nurse
The sentinel battles are fun. I still think they should have included some animations of the sentinels fighting.
It's good
I just finished it and I regret not playing it on my PS4 when it came out, wish I had been here for the discussion. Great game even if I had some minor nitpicks with the tower defense aspect of the game.
The beginning is kinda rough since they will just throw around a lot of names at you but after a while you get used to them.
I was thinking about no way to say earlier today too

It's good but it's an anime with a tower defense game in between episodes so take from that what you will
great anime though, really enjoyed it
Okay user, real talk, no bullshit.
Is yakisoba pan any good?
If you like Yakisoba. I love most Japanese food but don't like Yakisoba or Teriyaki for some reason.
I didn't get the authentic experience but from what I tried it's pretty good. How could you not like noodles with bread?
story is overrated, but the way they tell it has never been done before and is really well put together.
ive had a banh mi before so I imagine it has a similar saucy makeup
noodles by themselves are flavorless and bread is a tray to eat along with your food so its probably just a sauce / veggie (probably peppers and onions) game
the weeb food I want to eat is takoyaki
>but the way they tell it has never been done before and is really well put together.
It's been done before many times. But the types of movies and games that do it are generally not popular. Because it's hard for most people to stay invested all the way to the end, when they finally start explaining stuff. Some big examples would be Final Fantasy XIII or Urusei Yatsura Movie 2 or Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. Though granted, FFXIII sucked even after they revealed what was going on. But the other two are great.
>the weeb food I want to eat is takoyaki
I had it and it was definitely not to my taste. Didn't like the sauce and the wet gooey inside bread was weird. It was like having a half cooked pancake with teriyaki sauce on top.
I watched it on youtube and the story is 10/10
Im not talking about the story theme, im saying how the game plays it out, how they present the story. The gameplay how you find clues to progress through the character timelines.
>>gay crossdresser character
>Lol thanks not gonna get it
don't forget Kamitani is a real one
Takoyaki is one of my favorite japanese food. It can be done well or poorly, so don't take the other guy's experience as the whole story. I've eaten gross soggy takoyaki and great flaky ones. Just make sure you get it from a good place.
>Bread with noodles inside of it
Seems disgusting
>write takoyaki
>what I meant was Taiyaki

What are your thoughts on mochi? Every time I've tried it it's been bland and feels like eating raw dough
Not a fan of regular mochi. But ice cream mochi is amazing and perfect.
Where I'm from spaghetti calzone was pretty popular for a while. Gives me the same kird of "that's a little much innit" feeling.
I love it. But I buy a specific brand from Japan. And it's made fresh and frozen, so it doesn't need preservatives or filler. The dry kind you can find in a box is disgusting.
You can get calzones or other Italian versions that do the same thing.
For me, it's Tomi Kisaragi.
Based and foreheadpilled
I just hope that the sales are good enough for them to port their other games to newer platforms. Dragon's Crown and Odin Sphere on PC/Switch would be amazing.
And for them to make new games, of course.
For me it's plump.
is it possible to emulate this game's switch version
i want to play it but i only have a pc
I mean we're already getting GrimGrimoire in July, so getting their more popular action games isn't off the table. I guess it's mostly a question of whether any of their games have some sort of timed exclusivity deal with Sony that hasn't expired yet.
Both Yuzu and Ryujinx run the game just fine. If they ever release their games on the PC, I would recommend supporting Vanillaware if it’s feasible for you to do so.
I hope Vanillaware has made enough money that George can just buy the full rights to all his past games. Then he can decide what to do with them instead of going through Marvelous or Atlus. Also doesn't help that basically every game had a different publisher and financier.
fuyusaka's fat friend makes me diamonds
i WILL play this game
It took this game to make me realise that Woolie was a massive retard, so at least it had a positive impact on my life
Nice gif. But it does have some gameplay.
Its amazing. The gameplay is serviceable, the story sections are pretty much interactive vn with vanillaware graphics and the battle sections are glorified tower defense, which admittedly grew on me quite a lot. The main draw of the game is the story, which is amazing, especially the way its broken down into character chapters which induces that just one more feeling
Vanillaware never made a single PC port
Huh, PS4 version is 50% off so I guess I'm picking that up. Odin Sphere is not so I'll wait for a sale I guess.
Just get the PS2 original
I heard only Osaka has best takoyaki and okonomiyaki. They put big octopus pieces in the dough.
They might change this. Almost no Japanese developers did PC ports. Then suddenly this gen, most of them started porting their games to Steam en masse. Vanillaware may not be doing it because they're a small developer or because of rights issues.
just finished it almost an hour ago
fantastic game, i was a bit unsure about the actual gameplay segments at first but it grew on me and think it's still a good experience despite the low enemy variety and essentially no level variety
i also wish we could've seen all of the protagonists grown up in the real world during the epilogue
I mean they never made a Switch one either.
She'd be an easy lay.
I'm about 5h in and it seems to be pretty good. The tutorial/intro is rough because it introduces shitloads of characters but once I got beyond that and started focusing on one of them it got a lot better. The game itself is mostly a VN. There are mech battles, I'm not really sure how to describe them. I guess the closest thing would be a sort of RTWP combat system like some RPGs have, but not quite. You have a bunch of mechs you can control, when one of them acts it basically goes on a cooldown until it can act again. When you're choosing what action to take or which unit to use, the game is paused, so it's not actually RT from the gameplay perspective but it doesn't have turns or rounds either like a fully turn-based system. You don't get to just never pause either, so it's also not like a traditional RTWP combat design.
Is it worth emulating on my Steam Deck?
fpbp
>also wish we could've seen all of the protagonists grown up in the real world during the epilogue
Yeah, that's a real blueball. I understand it was impossible for budget reason though
>The tutorial/intro is rough because it introduces shitloads of characters
After 8 hours i still cant remember their names, im constantly checking the mystery files. Doesnt help that half the crew has 5 different names
it's bait for 13 sentinels 2: 14 sentinels
