Take a guess, who was supposed to be the final boss of Dark Souls 3 in the alpha
Hint 1: It's referenced from the very first alpha build
Hint 2: It has its own OST, but it was NEVER used in game. You might recognize part of the OST from the third phase of a DLC boss
Hint 3: It appears in the opening cinematic

Sulyvahn

Incorrect but common theory dating to a wrong leak claiming Sulyvahn were to be faced AFTER a time of the day scripted change
Sulyvahn encounter was more importart but not radically different from what we got

Firekeeper?

Shanalotte!

Wrong but enticing idea
I have found limited files but Firekeeper's link with the endings was even stronger in the original

Poor waifu, no

>play my guessing game where I never reveal the answer!

I gave 3 hints that make it really easy, but the answer is Soul of Cinder was its own NPC, much like Gael, initially aiding the player, then becoming the final boss. The storyline regarding the blood used as pigment for a new painted world in fact referred to one of the intended endings, making a new world with the Blood of the Dark Soul falling from the Bleeding sun. This is why Soul of Cinder (title as a boss) is named in promotional material as Red Knight, initially an NPC parallel to Ostrava of Boletaria. The Red Hooded Slave Knight is a repurpose of the concept and storyline of the Red Knight

Too weak
Too strong

and you know this how?

This CGI trailer never lied
youtu.be/_zDZYrIUgKE
Sulyvahn was never the final boss (that's so beyond any shadow of doubt there's files and epitaphs referring to Sulyvahn in Irithyll
Sulyvahn was never the final boss
He had the same role in retail, but was placed later in the game, right before the finale

Through a lot of diving in the alpha builds of the game and the NT as well as artbook concepts and promotional material

You sound like a fan

Further on this, from the leaks and promotional cinematic you can tell the main character was originally going to be outright or something similar to a fire keeper. Would of been a fitting send off for the series for the background characters that kept the undeads journey going to be the reason for the cycle finally ending or being restored.

DaS3 never got a proper ending, you think we'll ever see a DaS4? I can see Bandai Namco being jews and hiring some no name indian devs to make the game if they ever need to make a quick buck.

Irithyll was an ashland/desert, and I'll tell you a fun fact that will tease DS1fags. It was connected to Archdragon Peak, but not physically. Remember the large open area with enslaved giants? You could see Archdragon Peak from there, and probably get there in a sort of reverse to DS1 similarly to how you get from Sen to Anor Londo
This was before Archdragon Peak was moved out of the LOD from there and instead connected to Irithyll Dungeon through Path of the Dragon, which obviously looks less elegant than something like Batwing Demons actually dropping you on that cliff

It seems to me that they first try to make something like a normal story, something like you would expect. Then they break it down, change some details and switch positions around, so you end up with "the classical convoluted mess" but with this underlying feeling of sense...because it was actually a proper story at some point in planning.

sure thing zanzibart. i believe you. my dad works at nintendo and they are paying them to have this for the switch remaster.

Guilty as charged, user
I think Anri's ceremony was actually relevant to the endings, as shown in the intro, and probably had the Firekeeper related to it, with the Dark Soul being central
We know the Firekeepers are vessels for the Fire, so it's likely that the various endings (probably except End of Fire) had the ceremony performed on the Firekeeper, possibly by the Soul of Cinder AND/OR by the player after defeating the Soul of Cinder

It is true that the Soul of Cinder was an NPC at some point, I can't comment on the rest but as always with DS3, random bullshit fans come up with makes more sense than what we got.

Bloody hell, this track is very good. It's fun that we got altered versions of almost every cut track back in the DLC. I think I preferred this version until the choir came in. Overall Gael is better with the triple stages, but this one is interesting too.

No no, you misunderstand that. That is the SoL model creating a bonfire. The entire game was originally built around body hauling, bonfire creation and corpse rituals. Go check out the leaks by The Know if you want to go research that.

I have been searching a lot
I wouldn't say that the story we got is bad (thought it has its issues, especially the bells/Sulyvahn)
I like how certain things were repurposed (for example Yhorm would have been really anticlimatic over its tragic backstory in retail)
But definetly a lot of cool narrative elements (and features) were lost
It's clear that the DLCs are a (respectable) attempt at patching the story, which works but is definetly less impactful than what could have been
>DaS3 never got a proper ending, you think we'll ever see a DaS4?
I don't think it makes much sense. Might as well call it Elden Ring 2
A DaS3 original cut? Holy shit yes, it was really shaping up in terms of themes and design to be one of the best and most climatic ARPGs
The very iteration of God's grave as a large unique area of three fighting factions (only partially pushed in a rough way by Farron Keep entrance) was great.
Ambitious ideas by talented men that had to deal with Bamco's greed

The dancer was originally a friendly npc too. Consumed king was originally gundyr while that model was just used for a dragon sage that would connect lothric to the aerie and there was an entire bridge/forest area cut from the game.

Yhorm was originally the tutorial boss
Storm ruler meant for the tree boss
Multiplayer built around rituals and world tendency again

It is really good
>No no, you misunderstand that. That is the SoL model creating a bonfire
Bonfire creation was never a big thing
Hollow bonfires were more limited than actual bonfires
What is that is a ceremony, both a lore and PVP feature
In another post I'll explain better

Attached: Dark-Souls-3-Sacrifice-Ceremony.jpg (1600x800, 189.07K)

Yeah bonfire creation wasnt going to be the whole horse feature of the game but it was a part of it. I did bring up rituals/ceremony/world tendency in another post.

literally just say what it is you stupid fucking schizo piece of shit

Not saying

The final boss was originally going to be or related to the world serpent from the leaks. The model was repurposed in elden ring for the ulcerated tree spirits.

>dancer, gundyr, cut areas
common knowledge

>dragon sage
Really? I've heard that Ocerios' current model was the body of the boss of God's Grave and was called Dragon Angel

I just called him the sage since that's what his design is going for with the aged appearance and staff. But yeah originally the broken ass demon bridge lead under lothric to an area that was never included in the final release and from there you went to the dragon area. There are remnants in the lothric knight item descriptions related to their dragon riding.

Ceremonies were a new PVP/bonfire ascetic mechanic
For example you could make a ceremony where the world turns dark and let the feast begin in a free for all nultiplayer invasion mode
The world would reflect each state
All the endings having the player in the same pose with thw sword towards the ground are likely because the original ending also concluded with a ceremony

Attached: 1af0d75cf2565c85e2ca0173f09465a0.jpg (1357x1920, 308.09K)

Oh ok, so there's no info about the "Dragon Sage" being an interactable NPC outside of combat or anything like that?

I feel like these harald legion guys were somewhat related to the slave knight armor. Very similar color palette and some similar elements. Now that I have a closer look, these look like bloated penal legion warriors from Elden Ring, wonder if that is whats going on there with the thorns growing out of them, they even have the same damage marks on the legs.

>The final boss was originally going to be or related to the world serpent from the leaks
It was a miniboss, and it was very similar, yes

Not that im aware of anyways. If you want to see the remnant of the cut bridge/area it's on lance mcdonalds and other cut content exploration channels. youtu.be/E89o_75Or2U

Really sad we never got to see the scene of it circling beneath the decaying eclipse.
This ones more of my head canon, do you think the broken bonfire sword in the room where you warped to lothric was meant to be picked up by the player character for the bonfire ceremony? Seems very conspicuous how its placed in the first area you warp into and there being a shut door before you continue to the area proper.

I'd rather have a DaS2 remake to be honest, I hate how we never got to interact with loli Shanalotte, she looked so cute.

combining the ideas/plans cut from 2 and 3 would result is a pretty great game.

>free for all nultiplayer invasion mode
this sounds so fun. god that's all i've ever wanted from multiplayer in a souls game. just straight chaos and a bunch of players

>Yhorm was originally the tutorial boss
Correct
>Storm ruler meant for the tree boss
This is not confirmed anywhere and I think it's wrong. It's more likely that Storm ruler was meant to be a tool to use against Mother Dragon, an enormous dragon boss that was also cut from the game
>Multiplayer built around rituals and world tendency again
Correct

>This is not confirmed anywhere and I think it's wrong.
I heard about the mother dragon, the ingame evidence for it being meant for the curse tree is the developer orange sign that states only a storm can fell a great wood. My memory placed there being a dummied version of the message near the greatwood boss, tho I tried looking for a video covering it but I couldnt find any video covering it.

>do you think the broken bonfire sword in the room where you warped to lothric was meant to be picked up by the player character for the bonfire ceremony
Originally the player didn't start at the Cemetery, it's more likely that the broken sword served for bonfires and ceremonies and the full sword was obtained later, allowing to warp much like obtaining the lordvessel. My supsicion is that the ORIGINAL Profaned Capital gave you the full sword in some way (which was related to the Profaned Flame)
It surely was. It also confirms that in the retail story the Untended Graves are indeed time traveling Ashen One killing Gundyr

Ds3 was my favorite ds game.
I wish midir was harder

I suspect the reason we got 2 blue sentinel covenants and 2 cat covenants in functionality was due to the old multiplayer systems being too heavily based on the ceremony and WT that was cut. Is there any information on what type of MP types/covenants/groups was originally planned?

The fact is that the message wasn't in the alpha or NT
It's likely that "Great Wood" refers to Giants naturally linked to nature and Archtrees

>We know the Firekeepers are vessels for the Fire
Everyone and everything is a vessel for fire/souls. What firekeepers are known and used for is cradling souls in their womb because its the most stable way to do so.

Attached: Firekeeper & Yuria.jpg (1024x870, 371.8K)

Profaned Capital and Irithyll Dungeon were originally near Lothric
The Wretches are the experiments Oceiros made to turn his son into a dragon
Makes me wonder how Sulyvahn was linked to this then. He was the scholar that convinced Lothric, that's sure, so it's likely that Sulyvahn Lord of the Eclipse was transforming similar to the tree hollows rather than a mutated tree/corvian from the Painting (which did not exist). But we know that tree hollows are turning into Abyss creatures due to the new Age. Suddenly the title of "Old King of the Eclipse" makes more sense youtu.be/w3zoDXAIB-0

The scale mail, colors, and armor damage are in very similar spots. Both enemies also have roots growing out of their bodies.

Fuck forgot the image.

It was Gundyr wasn't it?

We did get the giant serpent in that image, it's the Ulcerated Tree Spirit.

>the giant serpent
MMMMMHHHMMHMHMHHMHHH

Attached: 1647454168959.png (935x976, 1.08M)

and instead we got the Cringe Devouring Serpent and Praetor Reddit-kard.

Anyone find it hilarious that Elden Ring is made of the scraps of DS3.

The Sulyvahn thing came from Lance, aka the only guy with access to the 2015 Gamescom build of DS3.

When an unfitting undead is used as vessel he is consumed by it. This is why Firekeepers suffer so much. Anri (who absolutely did not exist before late into development just like Horace) "marriage" serves little purpose, just like Anri in the Usurpation of Fire, because the Ashen One is used as vessel.
Other than that Firekeeper was never as prominent as it was in the trailer and existed before most NPCs. This explains why I think she was about to be used as vessel. It's very likely that Friede tending to the Fire of the Painted World is yet again indication that Londor just like any side wanting to change the world would have tried to use a Firekeeper as sacrificial vessel.
That's my theory, but the ending might have been
>Link the Fire with the Dark Soul
>End of Fire after obtaining the Dark Soul
>Fight Lord of Cinder with Yuria, sacrifice the Firekeeper, like in retail happens with Anri, as part of the ceremony, but this was cut (and explains the absence of Firekeeper in that ending), with obtaining the Dark Soul in the final co trontation replacing the retail Dark Sigil thing

Attached: Firekeeper concept.jpg (1238x1561, 860.53K)

There's a lot of Ringed City in Elden Ring

Is this the ultimate proof that cut content should stay cut?

>>we never even got the DaS serpents
This was bever supposed to happen and thank God
No, Red Knight

What that user said, the Gian serpent was still in the DS3 files and a comparison showed they became the ulcerated tree spirit in ER.
Which fucking blows because it's actually one of the best enemies in ER with a perfect hitbox and tightest movement.

> TFW we never got the Burial Knights armor in either game

Attached: 681-1599169036-476840563.png (385x649, 417.67K)

The Sulyvahn thing is also wrong and Lance "source" is a misinterpretation of lines related to the time of the day system

Uhh, isn't that just the Firelink set, except not roasted?

I have the stance that the millwood knights were intended as a reference to Elden Ring as Chester was to Bloodborne.

Nah, it's good that it was salvaged, I'm just laughing that it was a cut boss used around 13 times in Elden Ring. I like the boss (minus the camera fuckery) but fuck me what a way to go from cut boss to overused boss/standard enemy.

theyre similar but not the same unless the fire link knight replaced some armor pieces.
If you want DEEP LORE, the dragonslayer armor is the armor the DS2 dragonslayer wore but melted down.
