Reminder that incoming damage first goes through blocking, then flat defense and then % negation. Since flat defense is much more effective against lower damage attacks, you don't need 100% block rate to minimize the damage. Anything past ~70% will result in you taking only chip damage since the flat defense will work its magic. With the heavy weapon block buffs, blocking while two handed is viable and you should be using it in combat.
Picrel: even with only 72% phys block you will only take chip damage while blocking with it, and if you throw on a greatshield talisman then you can block with it consistently and even block+counter some boss hits. Something like a giant-crusher that gets 88% phys block and like 70 stability effectively doubles as a greatshield. Playing with big 2h-ers is a ton of fun now if you actually block. Doubly so if you go full heavy armor with enough poise to land charged R2s.
ER weapons thread
Put Elden Ring in the title next time so my filter can catch it. Please and thank you. I like Elden Ring too, but you people are obnoxious with constantly making useless threads.
shut up, next you will tell them about the ironjar aromatic. let them wallow in ignorance
I liked ER but it's really time to move on.
The game isn't anything special and your recent experiences and encounters have already been experienced by 100s of thousands of other people.
today i tried out the RoB + uchi loadout against Malenia in co-op, and man, this shit still feels like ass to play for me, to be honest. can't stagger for shit, and FP flasks become more of a necessity, which i've always hated managing. think i'll just stick to my caveman builds.
haha dual colossal weapons with jump attack talisman and golden vow go boom, why use anything else?
In what situation would you ever block instead of just rolling though?
When I don't want to reposition, when the enemy has an annoying roll catch I think I'll fuck up, or most importantly when I want to keep up the pressure and posture damage to quickly break them. I just did Morgott in NG+ with END+FTH build in full omen armor and blasphemous blade with buffs. The entire fight lasted about 30 seconds of me blocking+countering him until he broke and poising through his attacks with charged R2s. Much more fun than minutes of rolling around. Felt like an actual heavy dark knight kind of character instead of some nimble faggot waving a toothpick.
Take the Blaiddpill NOW. Royal Greatsword is one of the most fun weapons now and Wolf's Assault is ridiculously strong. Most importantly it's just cool as shit and a STR/INT build also gives you access to spells and powerful Cold infusion.
>he thinks damage negation is the problem with weapon or shitty shield blocking
Dumb faggot
This really. Im on ng+2 and the game really isnt much to talk about anymore. It was March madness, its over.
They also upped stability. The heavier weapons have like 50-70 stability now. That's more than enough to block the occasional boss hit if you've got decent END and you're not treating it like a shield and trying to block every hit.
I love it when people use this thing in pvp, free hit every time
Seriously, Elden Ring is finished. My fellow FromBros, it's time to grow up and move on to more worthwhile games. This one trick pony is all tricked out.
I see. Yeah that makes sense, and it's good that it adds more variety
Just another FOMO fad, glad to see people are finally coming to their senses and going back to playing good games
>Dual UGS? Didn't beat the game.
>Bleed? Didn't beat the game.
>Magic? Didn't beat the game.
>Frost? Didn't beat the game.
>Poison or Scarlet rot? Didn't beat the game.
No, you fags, THIS is is how you don't beat the game. This is the Beast-Repellant Torch. This 2.5-lb barrel of Cheat Engine can be obtained for a paltry 1200 runes as soon as you get your horse.
>equip torch in left hand
>two hand right hand weapon
BAM! You are now immune to dogs, rats, and wolves for the rest of the game. This even includes tyrannodogs and bosses with dog adds, like the Omenkiller and that bleedfag in that catacomb.
I can't imagine playing without this figurative god mode anymore.
*still the best weapon in the game since day one*
No one actually uses titles on Yea Forums retard
I'm glad they did all these buffs to UGS after I finished my 120+ hour long str playthrough. THAT'S REAL FUCKIN SWELL, FROMSOFT. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What's that sword? Looks cool
I didn't realize torch was that fucking broken though
maliketh black blade
Souls PvP is for faggots
You'll never know the joy of slapping the hosts "girlfriends" ass and then murdering him
>found it on 2nd hour of playthrough
>in 30 hrs got +9, while ordinary weapons barely upgrade to +15
>after 120 hrs of game still haven't find a better weapon.
Yep
>game comes out
>standard weapons lose damage when upgrading from +24 to +25
>several patches later
>buff big weapons
>introduce new bug where somber weapons lose a ton of stability when upgrading from +9 to +10
For fuck's sake From, hire some better fucking programmers.
nice copypasta
but does it also worth against those faggot birds that like to take your camera and shove it up your ass
I'll stick with Helphen's Steeple, thank you.
Nothing works against the birds.
Nothing.
>block the occasional boss hit
Problem is every enemy in ER is E. Honda occasionaly and will just murder you if you don't block with 100 stability.
One of those fuckers in the halligtree city oneshot me through a 80 stability shield and I lost half a million souls. DS2 out of 10 game design.
>using big heavy slabs of iron
The fighting style of the plebeian masses.
never roll backwards against this thing
But I hate the birds. Especially the upgraded deathbirds that also like to fly away and carpet bomb you.
*poke* *poke* *poke*
I stopped using it around hour 50 because I just got bored of the movset. Moved onto poleblades, dual wield, eleonoras, respecced again now with Blasphemous
Idk I just get bored of the weapons and want to try them all if they look cool
Guard counters do decent normal damage, a lot of poise damage (more than jumping R2) and come out a lot quicker than R2s and even some R1s.
Some attacks are a lot easier to block than dodge too, while also creating openings if they bounce. I personally find blocking against the like of dogs or rat more effective than dodging.
Also on a tangent, I never really noticed that tree sent uses a torch despite killing him several times... weird.
Thanks for the information
Unfortunately, colossal weapons still suck ass
It's so ugly, though
Give me some other good StrFth weapons, or I'm going DexFth instead
Nothing wrong with that, there's literally hundreds of weapons in this game and a lot of them are awesome. Blasphemous blade is super cool but got boring a little quickly just because of how strong it is. I genuinely believe it's the most powerful weapon in the game. It's way better than any RoB / Moonveil meme weapon.
To be fair
>yeah but
TO BE FAIR, this is quite literally the most egregious example in the game, and everyone acknowledges that
I guessing the talisman that increases guard counters is necessary? I like big numbers so would like to test it out
>Greatswords have up to 70 stability now
man halberd's got fucked this update. they used to be one of the highest stability weapon class but even with their "buff" they only get up to like 46.
>DS1
bareable
>DS2
bareable
>DS3
bareable
>Sekiro
bareable
>Elden Ring
unbareable
Linear > Metroidvania > Open world
Is the Golden Halberd still bugged? Heard people say that, but not sure if it was good or bad
Magma Wyrm Scalesword is uglier but i like it better
the tracking on the weapon art is ridiculous
1.
>you're not treating it like a shield and trying to block every hit.
2.
Even then they only do 2-3 attacks in a row which you can very easily block and guard counter. Of course that flurry attack isn't meant to be blocked but it's easy to roll behind them when they do it
I always seemed to have the most fun with Twinblades, so my favorite weapons are probably Godskin Peeler when I don't want to abuse broken mechanics, or Eleonora's Poleblade when I don't mind abusing broken bleed.
I also really liked a lot of the endgame faith based Greatswords, so many of them look cool as fuck. I think probably the most underrated Faith weapon is Halo Scyth. Probably underrated because most people don't know about it since it can only be farmed from those Scyth Knights that wield it with like a 1.1% drop rate. But it's weapon skill is fucking insane, spammable homing rings of holy faith that cost practically no FP, it's weapon skill is so damn strong it's pretty much better than any faith DPS incantation. Was so broken I had to stop using it because it was too tempting to wreck bosses with it which was way too cheesy.
You say this but I'm on my 3rd playthrough of ER and as much as I have cried about the lategame bosses I can't stop playing the game.
My faithful
>70 stability is just "enough to block the occasional hit"
That's kind of the problem yes. The absolute state of Eldie Bing
This is the worst enemy in the game, BUT.
Aside from normal tactics, like never dodging backwards and shit, this player should have dodged before the final attack that killed him, instead you see him trying to attack for some retarded ass reason when he's at like 20% health. Again, I hate this enemy, the worst in the game IMO, but this was entirely the players fault. Why would he try to fucking attack when he knows there's no way it's going to break it's poise and he's about to die and can see it winding up a final attack.
I'm just not interesting in getting to any bosses because of the world design. At least in metroidvanias its usually the case that even if its not the most optimal path, it will lead somewhere interesting. Open world doesn't have that, it's all fucking boring.
PvP is the only reason why these games got popular and stay relevant, shitter.
>lions Claw but 3x slower
No thanks. I like how it looks but I don't ever touch the weapon art, even after buffs it's slow as shit.
You're allowed to have that opinion but I strongly disagree. Whether the path is a linear tunnel or a sprawling field makes no difference, since I'm not playing Souls games to boss rush.
>Something like a giant-crusher that gets 88% phys block and like 70 stability effectively doubles as a greatshield
Yeah, only if you don't infuse it... and why would you sacrifice that much damage when you can literally just roll through most attacks? The only attack in the game which I recommend blocking is Malenia's 1st phase Waterfowl Attack.
"FOMO"? "FotM" seems to be a better fit.
>durr ER is FotM
>STOP MAKING ER THREADS IT'S ALL I SEE IN THE CATALOG
The Foreskin Stitcher is a straight upgrade to that weapon.
I'm not talking about anything else other than that retard's choice of words. "Fear of Missing Out" =/= "Flavour of the Month"
Depends on who you're fighting and with what. If you're using Greatsword then you already have the poke as a fast option once your defense is finished, as you can cancel into it out of the final roll. If you're using something with a garbage roll attack, you might not necessarily get a safe opening to swing after the final roll (because lol Elden Ring bosses) but you might be able to safely guard counter that final hit because the transition from block to guard counter is pretty quick using a 2H weapon.
People say posture damage but that's a meme. Not just because ripostes are meh damage but because you can't see shit without a posture bar so it's honestly not worth worrying about outside of "keep hitting them"
Your logic is flawed because "you can't see shit without a posture bar"
Even just the normal Jumping R1 with Giant Crusher is insanely good. It's the absolutely most powerful melee damage weapon in the game and just a few days ago FromSoftware made them more powerful, deal more damage AND improved Lion's Claw--I am almost certain Lion's Claw has infinite hyper armour.
In my experience, if you're going for big slow unga, it is not a worthwhile trade.
Lmao
That's the stupidest thing I've read all day and today I read "GDP is a good measure pf a country's strength."
does blasphemous blade work well on a dex/faith build?
PvP is the reason the "Souls community" is seen as a bunch of obnoxious elitist faggots, go fuck yourself
But it looks cool
>ER weapons thread
Based illiterate.
>Requires DEX
>Requires INT
Get that gay shit out of my face.
