>Dishonored shilled as Thief clone
>actually just Deus Ex
>Gloomhaven shilled as Thief clone
>actually just first-person Resident Evil
we'll never actually get an honest attempt at a Thief clone
Dishonored 2 had some levels that actually approached Thief-tier design though
You mean Gloomwood?
Which isnt a bad thing, deus ex is great
Still, theres a lack of good stealth games on the market, a shame that the majority doesnt seem to like it
>dishonored 3
>never ever
>theres a lack of good stealth games on the market
if you're looking for a good one, look up Intravenous
barring that I have to agree, and it's a damn shame
oh yeah, gloomhaven is a board game lel. But yeah gloomwood is trash so far
which levels? im actually interested in more dishonored so i might pick up the old thief games.
nice art direction on this game
this
>Skipped Dishonored for some reason
>Recently decided to give 2 a go
>Did a ghost/mercy playthroguh + refused magic since blink fucking breaks the entire game
>Got the experience that is somewhat close to Thief
Though to be fair, being able to knock everyone down with sleep darts and shock traps really hurts the stealth potential of this game. After all, the stealth implies that you must get around your enemies unnoticed, so how the hell are you going to get spotted if everyone's catching Z's?
you can thank this Frenchie, elevated deathloop from a 4/10 game into a 7/10 because of his art direction.
the one at the mansion with all the guests is primarily what I'm thinking about, grand palace I think and the area around it. The clockwork tower too
Thanks for the recommendation user, Ill check it out
Replayed D2 few days ago, with downsampling and a few clarity/sharpening tweaks in reshade, its still one of the most beautiful looking games. Pure art direction over lazy quixel/photoscanned shit. Also D2 might be weaker in terms of atmosphere or story over the first one, but to this day barely any game came close to this. Also level design is almost fucking perfect, call it gimmicks or whatever but its on of the last soulful tripleA games.
Based protagonist and great story
Anything after the DLCs for the first game is not canon
I've never played the third game, and never will
They did Daud dirty on D2 DLC.
>play dishonored
>disable every single "guide" hud element
makes the game a lot more enjoyable for thief fans
>Also D2 might be weaker in terms of atmosphere
i don't understand the appeal behind 1, if anything it felt underdeveloped at a times.
>knock everyone down with sleep darts and shock traps really hurts the stealth potential of this game.
uhh... don't do it then?
you can play it however you like it thats the whole thing of this game, if you want to cheese it like that go for it, you can just give urself a challenge by not using, how about a ghost run? don't be seen, don't shoot or kill anyone, get in and out just doing the objective?
maybe you get bored, just go killing everyone with your cool powers then, the game doesn't force you to sleep dart and shock trap everyone
i think dark and gloomy atmo is more suitable for these kind of games
Too bad there'll never be a 3, but after playing that awful DLC for 2 and seeing that niggerpoop game they shat out recently I think it might be for the best they don't try to make another Dishonored.
maybe you should inform yourself about the lore, Emily fucked her own empire since she was a terrible empress and caused it to fall, they didn't explain who ruled what after the empire but people were desperate for a solution where deathloop comes in.
>just play 3
no thanks
Gloomwood was advertised as "thief with guns" but I think the devs do have love for thief and are interested in making pure stealth possible.
im explaining why they'll never make a third game
Is MGS the only game where knocking out enemies is actually different than killing them?
>just play 3 to learn why they wont make 3
are you retarded?
don't worry bro, nobody considers that turd canon
hopefully they'll make Prey 2 instead. at least there even if they nigger-up the place it doesn't matter cuz there's no story and no radio budies

I'd like to see it, but the demos released so far haven't had that come through. Maybe they're cooking up a new one to win Thief fans over, idk.
there's a bit in the clockwork Manor where you can go out onto a ledge and corvo will say "it's a long way down", he says it exactly the same way garrett says "it's a long way up" when you try to rob the temple in the lost city in Thief.
You DID disable all HUD elements (mission log, waypoint marker, compass etc) except the contextual health/energy, right user?
You DID bind use to right click, yeah?
>You DID disable all HUD elements (mission log, waypoint marker, compass etc) except the contextual health/energy, right user?
did they actually design the levels well enough that they work without these? cool if so
The game was good, but it really fucking depressed me
I'm not sure why, but it just made me feel completely empty inside once the credits started rolling
>did they actually design the levels well enough that they work without these? cool if so
Wut? That shit is only a problem in open world games
ever played Castlevania Curse of Darkness? its levels are just copy-pasted corridors with the exact same assets in the exact same positions etc, its easy to think you're in a loop
Yep. It's weird because you can use the heart to find the bone charms (and if you use it while targeting people you can hear something about their lives, also hear what rats are saying). For some reason the default way to find bonecharms is the waypoint thing, which is fucking lame.
Give it a replay without the waypoints and compass. Plays great, less clutter on your screen, and more incentives to explore.
>dishonored shilled as thief clone
>atually just deus ex
Really? Well damn now I am kind of interested. Thanks user.
too bad he's a shitty gerret
Emily is handsome, like a boy. As we say in Afghanistan, women are for children, boys are for pleasure
also first had nigger in dlc kinda ruined the setting for me cause it was only nigger and noone noticed it in game which broke my immersion
So did they, you know?
at most i would say its deus ex like
>they made deathflop instead
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>Emily fucked her own empire
Tell me more
>just play 3
no one ever said that, schizo.
A fair few aspects of the game i dislike, but the sun soaked atmosphere of karnaca is excellent. I would just hide up top somewhere on most maps and enjoy the view.
Honuh fuh all, yuh, da rich n da small…
Spiritual successor to Thief has to be in VR. Think about it, you know it to be true.
Did you play as Emily or Corvo?
ghost or chaos incarnate?
I played D1 in a stealthy way, as it was meant to be.
I played D2 as Corvo full guns blazing
Dishonored 1 was great, it wasn't what I was hoping for (Thief) but it did its own thing and did it well. Dishonored 2 fucking sucks.
Emily. It's the only way the intro, and the game in general, makes sense. Corvo is the one they all know is dangerous. They'd neutralize him as soon as possible. Played as ghost and rejected powers. Same thing I did in the first game.
What do you think?
i have played 50 hrs of this game and never once touched emily
why not?
Gloomhaven is a board game
i didn't like her voice actress and felt a strong attachment to Corvo who has a cool voice actor and powers I like a lot. I tried Emily's out via the NG+ thing and holy shit she feels almost like easy mode
shes better than corvo in every way (gameplay wise) and is the logical canon character for a second game even though the story is basically just the same as the first game.
Deathloop si technically that, but a third game would be kino. I need that methodical dishonored gameplay.
>thief in vr
Ahhhhhhhhh do not tease me user. That shit would be amazing. God damn it, now my day is ruined
>but a third game would be kino.
i dont trust arkane to not fuck it up. its an actual miracle that d2 turned out so fucking good.
Art direction has always been stellar in arkane games.
Vidya needs a word for last gen games perfected on next gen hardware. Dishonored looks like it's level design was started back in Gamecube days then updated for PS\3\60 Era consoles.
The MYST online game, URU, looks like it's Ages were trying to scale to the Original Xbox's graphics limitations but with high rez textures from PC development.
Any other examples of this kind of development holdover?
Deathloop isn’t political.
friendly reminder to play both games with no powers for a much better stealth experience
I played as emily so I could hear her moans when she climbs stuff or exerts herself physically
Deathloop is good. Cope /pol/fag
Corvo
Ghost on hardest difficulty
it wasn't easy
Yeah user, you were on NG+ remember?
