What I can't stand is the fact that it gives the player the illusion of freedom and choice. After you meet Prarie you have multiple paths you can go. You're supposed to go to a specific area but there's no clear path given to you to get there so you're more or less left to your own devices to get there. I tried two separate paths, made progress in both, and both were fucking dead ends. I could not progress further with the abilities I had. Why in the fuck would you give me the illusion of choice where there are none? Why did you allow me to enter these areas and waste time going through them only to cockblock me at the end? There are no teleporters nearby so my only options are to backtrack the way I came or reset.
I don't want to play this game anymore. I really don't. It's totally soured me on the premise.
I also played through some of Advent and this one just seems like a total clusterfuck. Transforming into bosses seems cool and all, and I'm sure this is what people wanted out of Axl, but the boss forms all kinda suck to play as. They're all really awkward and clunky so I just end up temporarily transforming to get past certain obstacles only to immediately transform back into Model A. Having to access the transformation menu over and over is annoying as fuck. I played through the ZXA levels in Z Chaser and there are like twenty fucking forms that you have to cycle through.
I think I understand why this series wasn't successful.

Even so, I don't think boss forms actually work. The problem with bosses is that a lot of them don't move normally so you're stuck with these subpar movements and it's sort of a pain in the ass to keep having to transform into the shitty flower bitch in order to use ziplines and then immediately transform back when there are no more ziplines because the flower bitch is complete shit and the less you have to play as it the better.
