Why did Yea Forums never tell me this was fun?
Why did Yea Forums never tell me this was fun?
It's not fun, it's just addictive. It juices your brain until it's a drained husk and you don't enjoy anythign anymore. I beat A20 and swore to never, ever play it again, best decision of my life.
Everyone on Yea Forums loves Slay The Spire. It's an amazing game.
i dont have to tell you shit and its your fault for somehow avoiding an extremely popular game
I hate the random factor. I will never be able to enjoy rougelites
It's fun in the "Holy SHIT, how did I not see that play to win?" after you've lost hp
I like it
I thought it was boring as fuck. I didnt even try Hood or Spongebob. Shit Plus month.
Playing this game ruins every other indie roguelite deck builder bullshit that comes out every month
Suffers from the same problem as all roguelikes where one style is best
Only character that suffers from that is Defect
Elaborate
I played the original SpongeBob as a kid. got stinking drunk yesterday and finished the remake in one sitting. 9 hours. absolutely destroyed me. totally worth it to annoy Squidward
This is now a rogulite deck builder thread.
>Dicey Dungeons
>Griftlands
>One Step From Eden
>Nowhere Prophet
>Iris and the Giant
V praised this game a lot, pay attention
Not that guy, but:
Red dude - armor stack + body slam
Green dude - 'poison with each attack' power + shivs
Blue dude - frost stack + blizzard
Watcher is busted as shit and I love it.
its insane how the difficulty feels just right, what an amazing fucking game
>Red dude - armor stack + body slam
that's literally the worst playstyle for ironclad high asc.
Non character related, always path through bosses and shops to get more artifacts.
Warrior you go for high damage and defense boosting attack cards
Cultist build around posion
Defect is just spam orbs
DLC bitch, just aim to end turns not in rage if enemie attacks and build around being in rage and getting out.
Although if you just focus on the artifact collection strat, cards don't really matter
>two prostates
you can tell Slay the Spire is a great game because you see these wild opinions in every thread
duality+kunai is a hell of a drug.
Honestly this. I got a few ascensions in and I realized I wasn't really happy with the time I spent on this game.
the fun comes from doing other styles
play Downfall
Because it's not most of the time
It's only fun when you rng into a funny combo, otherwise it's simple math you have to do every turn and pray rng will not fuck you anyway which is more annoying than fun
At least it's charming and turn based so you can play it while doing something else and not mind the forced wastes of time the game throws at you regularly too much
>anime girl shit
How to turn sane people off modding a game instantly
its too gimmicky for my taste
i like the hermit but can't bring myself to play as the boss characters
Having characters with different cards and abilities works way better than something like binding where you always end up as the same thing but the game still only has 4 characters
its an unlockable optional skin, you can just play with the default models all you want
I honestly like almost all the boss characters more than Hermit, apart from Gremlins
there was recently a patch that streamlined a lot of the mechanics and most boss chars are pretty strong, you can easily get to act 4 on your first run even if you dont fully know what you are doing
>always path through bosses and shops to get more artifacts.
If you aim for every elite past A:16 or so you'll almost certainly die and if you aim for every shop you won't have enough money to buy anything. You have to weigh the risk and reward of your path based on your current deck setup, HP, and what boss you're fighting at the end.
>Warrior you go for high damage and defense boosting attack cards
You go for "high damage" on every character, and he doesn't have defense boosting attack cards with the exception of Iron Wave (which generally sucks), unless you count his attacks that also inflict Weak, of which there are a total of two. There's a variety of ways to build him, but it's generally accepted that at high ascension Exhaust decks win the most.
>Cultist build around posion
Discard decks are generally the safest, although poison is also effective. Shiv decks can also be extremely effective.
>Defect is just spam orbs
Considering this is his entire gimmick, you're technically right, but the entire idea is what orbs you spam and how you generate them. You have a number of options with this, Powers arguably being the simplest.
>DLC bitch
Again, a very surface level take, but I won't detail it because I don't play her much.
>Although if you just focus on the artifact collection strat, cards don't really matter
This is simply wrong. The cards you pick are the most important decision you make in the game - pick bad cards and you won't collect the artifacts, for one, and even if you do you'll still die. Artifacts won't save you from bad choices.
I'm responding to this more for anyone who's interested in the game, than for you, a person who shit talks a game he obviously barely engaged with. You don't know what you're talking about.
>Red dude - armor stack + body slam
I've been able to more consistently build a deck around strength and killing the heart with it.
I always get screwed over by RNG trying to look for the essential defense cards.
Any of these any good?
What about monster train? Is that one decent?
It's a shame that all the ones with action are trying to ape battlenet instead of chain of memories or twewy
You haven't started climbing ascensions have you lmao
Ironclad can't always hope to reach an Entrenching Barricaded deck. You will often die trying to force that playstyle
Your Silent is the worst way to play her, Envenom shines very rarely
Defect can go blizzard-centric, but it is nowhere close to it being the best style. Because Blizzard is too slow in most cases
Sorry bro, you got facebook or twitter or something? Would love to DM you a couple of favorites of mine, yeah it really sucks how Yea Forums just holds out on you like that, community isn't what it used to be man. Man i remember Yea Forums would use to come up to me and tell me about all kinds of games man, good ones too. Good talk you fucking faggot, kill yourself OP.
I still can't figure the best way to play gremlins
Right after I finish a few runs with Goku and the Mortal Kombat Kombatant
>ascensions
Artificial difficulty
>a good post
>here
wtf are you doing bro but thank you
Why is the modding scene for this game so dead?
It started off great, but outside of a few big mods, there's not much to look at despite all the potential.
I was at least hoping someone would make a Solid Snake character mod. Ac!d 1 and 2 could be used as inspiration for the deck.
I can beat A20H on every character except Defect. I just can't win with this guy.
>gremlin gang
>has an unexhaustable card, that generates shivs whenever drawn
>took it with Runic Pyramid once
Never again...
ascension 0 is literally the game tutorial bro
Downfall very recently came out and has a shitload of content.
I only posted ones that I like and have tried
I haven't tried monster train
The game is really only balanced around accension 20 though.
>It's not fun, it's just addictive.
Is it some type of neurological drug? Surely it must be fun otherwise you'd play something else?
It was out for a while
Can't believe the devs have decided that they are done with the game when Defect is still kinda meh imo
Too many cards that focus on orb generation/strengthening and not enough cards that help other playstyles
from my experience you just commit fully into one gremlin gimmick and then let him carry you, swapping is too unreliable towards the end
Defect is kind of meh, Frost and Dark decks are so fucking slow, and Claw is ridiculously hard to get off the ground. Getting a good lightning deck going is pure sex though - shitting out 10 x 9 damage to every enemy every turn is so satisfying.
Train's a different beast but a fair amount of the decision-making carries over. In general it's easier since if you know what you're doing you can REALLY go nuts with it.
How's Across the Obelisk?
Unlocking all the cards for every characters take too long
its fun but after a while you'll realise its just a random number lootbox generator praying on your dopamine (no, not all games are this)
>can go blizzard-centric
you are as bad as the guy you reply to
blizzard is a complete trap
>entrench barricade
absolute meme tier trap
>defect suffers from only singular build being good
defect suffers from his core mechanic being stupidly strong
but there are plenty of paths to got with them - plasma shenanigans, consume evoke spam, lightning, glacier spam if you have any damage, dark memes
just beat a 12 with consume+, fusion+ and two rainbow+ i.e. only one orb slot and I cycle through evokes until everything is ded and I still have 50 block for no fucking reason
also creative ai can salvage the worst runs if you get past the mindset of "random bad"
Name 10
Ofc a consoletard would find the best deck builder to ever exist boring as fuck. sub 79iq troglodyte.
>lowest winrate at ascension 20
because what you find fun isn't fun for me most of the time and vice-versa
there is creative ai being a single card deck and I just had a dead branch + recycle run that got stupid pretty fast
and as I wrote in orbs can go plenty of ways
lightning is a trap on high asc
I agree though, that claw is bad BUT it is fun on low asc and not as hard to assemble as you make it out
stopped playing cuz my brain is too tiny but I really like watching lifecoach autistically play this shit game
How many bananas does that man eat a day?
by some single digit percent
what I meant is his core mechanic is stupidly strong compared to what his cards offer and what cards not related to his core mechanic offer
if you want it easy, play watcher, sure
I enjoy defect
>TLDR: I'm shit
Total play time 50 hours and all endings, artifact strat is best and if you're getting your shit pushed in by bosses on the second floor, your run is doomed. Git gud
>Your Silent is the worst way to play her, Envenom shines very rarely
I started the game yesterday, what is the best silent build ?
Discard for the first two acts and then pivot to poison build with Catalyst+.
Or After Image.
redpill me on this game
ty frend
the one that is presented to you through choices you can make
trying to force a deck archetype rarely works and is a shitty strategy in the long run
you pick damage cards that work on their own in the first act and build around them/relics afterwards
got a Bouncing Flask and Noxious Fumes? go poison
got 2 Blade Dances and a Shuriken? go shiv
got Eviscerate, Acrobatics and Calculated Gamble? go discard
got a mix or not a clear strategy? pick more cards to build around
The more you understand the game and how to win, the less fun it is. I get the same feeling as Gungeon when I started to know immediately how shit a run was going based off quality of items and stuff but atleast there you can out-skill the game fucking you over
Best Silent deck would probably have endless energy generation from discard + tactician or Bullet Time, an endless supply of Apparitions/Wraith Forms from multiple copies of Nightmare, and some passive block generation from After Images to counteract Beat of Death
>"what about the deck's dmg?"
Doesn't matter what the dmg is if you managed to get a deck that fulfills the above scenario
But of course, reaching such a deck is stupidly hard. There are only a set number of cards to look at after all, and you can't pick a card purely hoping to find another card that would gel well with it
>"then what am I supposed to do?"
Play the game and find out, lad. That is the fun of the game
