Avp2 is the best both in the campaigns and multiplayer, AVP 1 is a glorified fetch quest with random enemies in box levels that you only like more because it was your first or are afraid to disrespect the boomers (despite the fact that they came out liek only 2 years appart)

AVP1 has better atmosphere and its gameplay is much faster paced. The campaign of 2 is better though, yes.

It doesn't even have a better atmosphere than AvP2. AvP2 literally puts in little details like harmless critters and moving props around the maps in the first levels of the campaign where you're at your greenest to fuck with your motion sensor and keep you on your toes.

I actually really hate the motion sensor in 2 because its range is way too short and they always spawn xenos right behind you in the marine campaign anyway, rendering it effectively useless. In 1 it picks them up from really far away and Xenos never spawn right on top of you so you actually get that anticipation of the sensor going off for a while before they reach you
