Wrong image user, you shoudve posted 6

Wait until you get to 4

The story is top tier with all the Orphanage kids and Rikiya
The gameplay sucks ass

That's not 6

Rikiya good, villain whatshisnameagain good, Okinawa good.
Combat bad. Story bad. CIA shit bad. Twin brother trope ridiculously bad.

Every Yakuza except 0 and Kiwami 2 suck ass user

Rikiya sucks and I’m glad that little faggot died in agony.

>enemies block too much
Sidestep, counter, tiger drop. Wow, so hard.

I'm starting to see that this is true, except Kiwami 2 sucks ass too

I like Kiwami 1.

Yakuza 1 with English dub starring mark Hamil, Michael Madsen, Rachel Lee Cook and Elisa Dushku is the only good yakuza game

I've never played Yakuza 3 but I feel the same way about Final Fantasy X right now. Can't understand what people see in this game. Some of the environments are really good and the music is pretty standard FF quality. Everything else sucks.

1, 2 (not Kiwami) and 3 are the only good Yakuza games.

some of the best music in the series though

Fly still hasn’t been topped.

t. Ugly Eyes.

I have been playing through the easily available titles and I haven't felt like any game sucks

your mother sucks my ass. she litrually sucks the shit directly out my poop hole.

Quick Yea Forums
As a newcomer should I start with Kiwami or 0 or 6?

1 bad
2 good
3 bad
4 good
5 bad
6 bad
0 good
7 bad

the series has more stinkers than hits.

Start with 0 then do Kiwami 1 > Kiwami 2 > then just rest in order 3 4 5 6

Start with 0. Kiwami assumes you've played it first, and 0 is the most overall polished game in the series so if you don't like it then you probably won't like the rest of the games

I've only played 3 and 4 and really these games kind of suck unless you're going through your first weeb phase.

what do you mean by 'easily available'?

Every FF will have a special place in someone's heart for being a game they played when they were younger. Give it a couple more years and you'll start seeing people praising XV as an underrated classic.

Pretty well. Tho I just beat it not even a month ago and can't remember the bad guy other than CIA, and that dummy in the red suit. So I'm inclined to say the villain wasn't that good.

Thanks, will check out 0 then

0 should be experienced after playing a few Yakuza games in my opinion. It's a prequel with a lot of Easter eggs and callbacks that won't be appreciated if you played it first.

I don't have a ps2 so the originals are hard to get, the zombie one is also hard to find, and the samurai ones are Japan only so other than those the rest are easy to get

3 is the only game that deserved a remake and the shit heaps 1 and 2 got one instead.

>so the originals are hard to get
You can emulate them easily, the lighting just won't be the same unless you use the Japan-exclusive PS3/Wii U version.
>the zombie one is also hard to find
Dead Souls is easy to find on eBay without even trying but the price is a joke for the actual game itself. They couldn't even get rid of it for $5 on Amazon brand new which is how I got it when I was starting out, now it's $50 minimum.
>and the samurai ones are Japan only
eBay has access to them all the time for cheap with Kenzan being $20 used and Ishin being $30ish if PS3 (Don't do that) or $40ish on PS4 (That one). If you don't want to settle for a Best Price Kenzan you do have to do some searching, but it's not that bad.

wtf you're right, the price for dead souls increased quite a bit
why? I remember it being more common than 3 and 4 in the stores

>I remember it being more common than 3 and 4 in the stores
It's a number of things
>Popularity of the series has changed since 0 came out.
>1, 2, 3, and 4 got reprints a couple years back but Dead Souls didn't.
>It's a spinoff so it's safe to assume it got less copies made, especially since it basically killed the series in the west.
It's mostly the series popularity that caused it to skyrocket though.

Sorry I haven't even got through the games I already bought so I can't really justify dropping a bunch of money on those games especially if I'm not going to even understand one of them, despite how interesting it looks, at least not yet.
I haven't ever emulated ps2 games what program do you use

0 attracted the reddit crowd so the games are the popular to the mainstream as "weird and quirky" japanese games. There's not a lot of long time western fans or people that have even played all the games so it's hard to take the opinion of a lot of these new fans seriously when they've only played 0 or 6. The series has lots of ups and downs but the majority of the games are pretty bad. Sega has a problem with paying up big for actors likeness and forcing them into a plot as somebody serious but they don't even bother writing a good story. The games plots are all over the place with most of them not actually making sense but going for the shock factor instead.

It's also kind of funny that the judgment games are way better than any yakuza despite them essentially being yakuza clones. The thing is that those games actually have way better stories and characters that work with the plot.

There are guides for both Kenzan and Ishin, a full story translation for Kenzan, and translations of the cutscenes for Ishin but not the full story like Kenzan's did via KHHSubs. Ishin looks like this for example. The only thing you won't understand are the substories and you can't get Amon without a bunch of guides (English and Japanese) in Kenzan but the main story is fine and Ishin has summaries of what happens in substories in addition to steps for basically everything to 100% it.
>I haven't ever emulated ps2 games what program do you use
PCSX2. The Yakuza games have some issues with both because of going to higher resolutions that breaks the lighting and introduces some visual issues but otherwise it's fine. You can also just play at the original resolution and it looks fine but obviously you're playing at the lower resolution.

I know it's a daunting task to play these games, I just wanted to point out it's not that bad, that's all.

3 needs a rewrite not just a remake

3 was the most kino game in the franchise. Adoptive father Kiryu is kino. Kino.

ZASED................

its got the best story behind 0

>the super slow start
>kiryu deciding he wants to win an oscar with how hard he reacts to Rikkiya's death compared to anyone else in the series
>Mine wants to kill Daigo but doesn't because Diago is the only one who understands him but he wants to and he doesn't idk what the fuck he wants
>The fucking twin brother twist that even Yakuza itself must have realized was incredibly goddamn stupid because just like how Kazama having a brother was never mentions before 3, his brother is also never mentioned after.
>DUDE CIA

Fuck no, 3 needs another draft. 0 is the only good Yakuza plot.

Fair go

3's OST is underrated af.

Ryukyu has a great fighting theme.

I half agree with you. It's a total downgrade from 2(ps2, not kiwami) but the wall bounding is fun as fuck.

>a main villain is just taken care of offscreen without even meeting Kiryu, not even a cutscene of what happened to him
>then he suddenly shows up at the end to stab Kiryu for no reason
>the 30 minute long cutscene of a character revealing a bunch of terrible plot revelations to you that have gotten no foreshadowing beforehand
>the main villains plan is actively self destructive to him and he somehow doesn't realise it despite having inserted himself into a position where he should

This writing is a disaster, thank god for 4 for giving Hamazaki something to do

yakuza 0 was good the rest is trash

0 sucks. I'm sick of people saying it's good. It's not.

The majority of 0 is wasted potential but Majima's story was genuinely well written and entertaining. Kiryu's story was trash though.

Kiryu is almost interesting how absolutely boring he is. Just like Jotaro Kujo his entire personality is be a rock that punches things occasionally while interesting things happen around him.

it's because yakuza was supposed to be a one off game so they never bothered to make him an interesting character and they killed off everybody important to him. I'm glad he's finally out of the picture. Ichiban is a lot better but the turn based combat is really bad. The Judgment games are the best yakuza games by far.

I literally forgot who Hamazaki was by the end
Kiryu got stabbed and all I thought was "who the fuck was that?"

Makes sense. Like how 1 is a complete story with a nice end, but 2 on it's like they didn't know how to deal with Haruka or having lost half the good characters.

I actually remembered who he was ever since he did the Little Asia explosion thing and waited all game for something to happen with him like make him a boss fight and it never did. I genuinely can't believe he wasn't a boss in 3, I have no idea how you can introduce a character like Hamazaki and not make him a boss. It would be like Awano not being a boss or something.

it's because 3 was never a finished game. Why do you think they had to do that hour long info dump with that politician to actually try to salvage the plot. 7 was also rushed and had a half assed ending too which was most likely due to them changing the game to a turn based rpg halfway through development.

Been playing Like A Dragon, really enjoying the story so far, and honestly I think I might like Ichiban more than Kiryu.

4 is muuch better

4 making Hamazaki a character with a full fledged redemption arc never gets enough credit. Shows that the devs actually did care, and probably had a rough time getting used to the PS3 and the new engine when developing 3.

>and probably had a rough time getting used to the PS3 and the new engine when developing 3.
But 3 is their second attempt at using the engine, 4 is the third. They already had experience for 3 from Kenzan so that doesn't really hold water for a lot of things since 6 to K2 was a massive leap just as an example and 4/Dead Souls to 5 was also pretty big in terms of changes. They even fixed the blocking issue to some degree in 3 (Not much, but they did), did a bunch of quality of life stuff, fully implemented chases instead of that half-assed one in Kenzan, and made Revelations a bit smoother.

Kenzan was not only a bigger game than 3 but was testing significantly more things compared to 3 so I don't think they were having trouble with the engine at that point.
