If you want to save fighting games, make them free to play

Mortal Kombat hasn't been challenging since 4, but since 5 the series has had a lot of Single Player content. Not even including the story mode of Deception, it also had Chess and Puzzle Kombat. It's crazy how MK solved the Fighting game problem back in 2002 and yet, no one is copying them. Tekken tried, but SF has just been coasting by thanks to being the "biggest" fighting game franchise. Now MK is the biggest with Tekken in second place.

Literally the only way to actually save fighting games would be quarantining all the turboautists from normal people the way it would work in old arcades.
The genre's dead because it's and I cannot stress this enough that I am not exaggerating LITERALLY UNPLAYABLE if you aren't already a combo sweathead and the only thing available is online random match multiplayer, and fucking nobody wants to tolerate that insufferable faggotry much less spend the time to become another insufferable faggot.

Most FGs have one of these lacking and single player is a glorified arcade mode with gimmicks and they've been getting worse overtime, strive's survival is boring beyond believe and lacks the RPG elements in the past titles that arcsys has put out like +R or BBCF, everything is getting worse for casuals and they just keep missing the point.

I was actually ok with the "Game > Game:Champion Edition > etc" because everything came out in annual bursts, so the game essentially had seasons like traditional sports. Now you have to be so fucking autistic, be at 3 different events every week and grind 500hrs online per day just to keep up with all the new shit that dribbles out as the devs patch the game constantly and new fighting game previews are announced (because you need that fucking info before anyone else gets it to keep the competitive edge).

Monetize using league as a template, characters shouldn't be randomized unless you want a new character quick. Tekken revolution shouldn't be set as an example since a lot of genres thrive with F2P models.
This wouldn't be possible to be maintained by companies like SNK or ArcSys, but netherealm, capcom, bandai and microsoft perfectly can pump content fairly quickly to sustain the service and get profits from it.
We have examples we need a company to do it properly and it hasn't been done the closest has been KI and even then there should be a way to earn characters for free or a paid bundle with everything as well as having every character available in training mode to give them a shot.

If Project L becomes successful there will be no excuse to other studios don't start making fighting games free. Unless they are jewpaneses of course

League does it perfectly. It jews you in several ways, but one thing you can say about it is that if you want a champion, you can unlock it with ~3 days of moderate gameplay.
Fucking look at street fighter. You have to play the game for over a goddamn MONTH just to unlock a character, and you can't even take him to training mode to see if you really wanna buy them beforehand. It's absolutely retarded.

The SNES and N64 versions were popular. The MS version barely even ranks as a blip on the radar.

What do you expect? Just playing 1v1 PVP all the time and nothing else is boring for the majority. It's why most don't care for Fighting Games much to begin with. Even people who play Fighting Games more than others get bored with them pretty quickly and just play them here and there.
