As an old time fan, I hated it because it wasn't a fun game to play, and the story wasn't anything all too special. I thought the first disk was ok, but the ones that followed were just generally boring and frustrating from a writing standpoint

That said, it committed one of two cardinal sins for me - all the enemies level up as you do so there's absolutely no point in gaining levels. I hate that so much, especially in RPGs. My other cardinal sin is real world time limits in video games, it's the reason I will never play Fallout 1.

It really is, personally I think that it's among the best FF's and very underrated. I'm a hardcore FF8 fan, so many times I would even try to escape reality with lucid dreaming, I would be in Balamb Garden where I would often train with Zell in the training center and help Selphie with the Garden Festival, but one day as I was talking to Selphie, we went to my dormitory for a private talk. She immediately said, "You know you could live with us forever.." I gave her a confused look and she continued, "We understand that you live on earth and you REALLY wish to live here". I then said "How..How did you know?" She then giggled and said "Because we've been watching you, silly!"

This was a dream come true and I almost cried right there. She then said, "I talked with Headmaster Cid and he agreed that you would be PERFECT for SeeD, you just have to do...one thing". She then held my hand and looked deep into my eyes and said "...You have to kill yourself for the transfer to work correctly." CD1 is a pretty nice FF game. I wish I could say the same about the rest since it starts going downhill after. I guess CD2 was ok.

I actually hated Squall as a character the entire time. I thought he was insufferable. However, the game is legitimately amazing and the plot is fascinating. The Rinoa/Ultimecia theory also just adds so much depth, even though Square pretty much confirmed they did not intend for that.

The one thing that always bothered me was when Edea kills the president in front of everyone and proceeded to have aparade with the entire crowd cheering and not running for their lives.

Did I miss something?
