andrew who now?

Crystal Project, made by only one guy called Andrew Willman.

yes, it is the indie game of the year
but Yea Forums only talks about Elden Ring and triple A garbage like WoW

bump

Any tips for the sewer blood slime boss? I'm thinking I just need to have more people learn remedy to get rid of those debuffs.

It had several threads that reached max but it is a niche game bro. Also it can be incredibly unforgiving and frustrating at times.

It's a great game but doomed to minor sales because of poor design decisions. Nothing like the old school feeling of extremely tight jumps for 5 min in a row only to drop the last one and be forced to walk back to the beginning and do it all again.

> 4 dudes in a row
No, thank you.

i'm not gonna play your shitty fucking game Andrew
STOP SPAMMING THIS SHIT

kino game

I've played a bit of it. Got some crystals, hit around lvl20 or so. It's an okay turn-based RPG with class grinding similar to FFV and some platforming which I don't love or hate. It's supposed to be a "go on your own adventure!" type of thing, but for most people that just means aimlessly wandering around collecting crystals and platforming. That's all. If that's all you want, it's pretty decent. If you want anything more than that, you'll get bored.

I beat vanilla, suffered through the quintar breeding, and am just stumped at fun way to get past the cage match on top of the tree.
Game generally punishes you for playing defensive. Find a way to soak more damage, maybe proactively put def up or reduce its attack. Maybe adjust a few levels so your main threats have more up. That slime in particular starts pushing a more aggressive bleed+lifesteal every round it's below 50% health so you're not going to want to waste time mending the debuff when it's applied each turn, occasionally to all four characters.

I indulged the shillers and it turns out this game is actually awesome. If you're a chad who thinks FF5 is the best one you'll like this game. I was disappointed that the Beastmaster class has nothing to do with taming beasts, but whatever. My favorite part was the gauntlet fights in weebville.

I never did the breeding shit once, and I still managed to platform everywhere in the game. Even in the sequoia, I just had to hotswap mounts mid jump.

Loved the game, but the job leveling in end game is way too slow for me to give a shit. I quit after I found the boss in the maze that only lets you use magic. I'm not leveling magic on more characters for 1 boss.

Leveling jobs is fast if you grind the mushroom enemies in the not-Japan area, they give tons of job points when you kill them. But tbqh that particular boss in the maze is pretty useless and only drops a shield. There's no crystal in there or anything.

I'd have to level jobs for other bosses too. I tried the mushrooms but it is still way too slow for me to give a shit. Bravely Default is way better where at the end of the game you just get a passive that instantly kills all enemies 20 levels below you

An update was released that allows you to tweak exp and job exp rates. It also toned down the tedium big time on several other things. All optional fixes.

If it really bugs you, you can jack up the rate very high and speed it up immensely. Just fyi.

Dev is pretty good about listening to feedback.

andrew kino
I didn't have any issues with the platforming. the only frustrating parts were climbing the Labyrinth (only diagonal goat jumps, but they're not hard) and The Sequioa, both post game dungeons anyway.

My biggest beef with the game is the autistic chocobo racing, the worst part of FF7. Why the fuck did andrew bring that shit and force the player to do it for Best in slot gear is beyond me.

Yea well that's you buddy. Plenty of people have trouble with it. I mostly get fucked when it requires me to jump past a wall and then turn in a different direction. I frequently get fucked by loss of momentum and a pixel grabbing the edge of the wall since I can't see shit with any sort of precision due to the forced camera angle and non 3D sprites. Pixel perfect jumps also fuck me because I'm not an autistic speedrunner who gets off on getting jumps within 2 frames.

get good. they're hardly pixel perfect.

Some are fucking retard and no. Why should I waste time and energy getting good beyond what makes sense in a game whose only reward is my enjoyment? It's not enjoyable to turn into fucking Michael Jordan just for a single game I'm going to put away forever once finished.

Defense and Resistance are worthless stats since all its moves are special rather than physical/magical.
If you've got the Nomad class, which you should, you can use Therapy Stance to get AoE debuff removal which is strong.
If you're willing to wait you could always delay until you get a later class that can inflict a debuff that blocks lifesteal.

>completely missed salmon river until I had the owl
Is nomad really that early of a class? it's so strong to get so soon. I figured at the least you'd get it after dervish

you can't get to the master armor vendor without the golden quintar, I think that's the only thing that's actually impossible. You need both the speed of hte desert quintar + 2 jump height + glide to just barely clear the gap

unironically proud of Andrew

>three bumps from page 10
holy shilling lol

There's some minigames and racing shit later and a few optional dungeons/super bosses so it's pretty much ideal for old school JRPG fans

3x LP is such a fucking god send. It's not like it's hard to grind mushrooms but it's tedious and having 7-8 LP points per battle saves so much fucking time. Same for grinding gold. Just don't turn on those features until you're at end game

>I figured at the least you'd get it after dervish
You can get it as soon as you get the flute.
So technically speaking, yes, that's later than you can get Dervish, since you can get that with only a quintar pass.
But in terms of expected level or the level of nearby monsters or the official class ordering then yeah it's earlier.

at least with the new update he fixed race #4
All the races have a cheese besides 4 and that one is apparently a lot easier, though I only beat it once and refuse to touch it again.
There's also the auto complete minigame setting now, I think you can abuse that to get a win too

fuck off nigger I like talking about this game and there are never any threads up because people like you bitch and moan it's not another elden ring softcore porn thread

is there a guide for breeding the golden quintar?
I just want the mount, I don't want to go full autism on this.

there's one on the wiki that outlines exactly to do, theres also steam guides for how to ez win races

Yea there is but I don't feel like looking it up.

the * is how many wins it needs. They have to be from different races.
I am not 100% sure but I think for the final breed you only need 1 quintar with 4 wins, not both

Finished a few days ago, I thought it was really good. Actually prefer that it had basically no story. Did everything except the sequoia tree boss, dummy boss, and some of the depths bosses, mostly just because I didn't feel like doing extra after beating the main final boss.

Tried out a few joke builds like summoner+4 mimics but was sad to learn that you can only mimic an ability once per character. Makes sense for balance though. Pretty sure I could have beaten Sequoia boss with my mass-MP Sickle strategy but didn't feel like spending a bunch of time on it.

Imagine doing all of this shit just for some gear that you don't even need to beat any of the superbosses. At least in FF7 you got a cool summon for bothering with chocobo breeding.

You used to be able to mimic your own actions so with samurai + mimic you could infinite turn anything

it's not that bad, even without using guides it only took me a few hours to figure everything out. pretty much every race except the underwater one has a 100% success chance once you figure it out, and you only have to beat the underwater one a single time ever to unlock the easier 5th race

2nd race still makes me rage. especially on desert quintar. What's the cheese for that one?

fuck off, andrew

I'll bet you can cheese it by making all the other riders fall but I never had to figure that out. chalice of tar and first race were my go-to until the final couple breeds

>have to climb all the way up to the chalice of tar JUST to get a Quintar egg part of the golden quintar breed, while the other eggs are easily accesible from Callisto Shrine

Fuck you, Andrew.

which egg?
I have golden and never been to chalice

top of chalice is 30 seconds from dione shrine with owl+ibex

anything with 2h jump makes the final race take a total of 5 seconds it's so cheezy

I was filtered by the quintar races and haven't played the game in several days because of it.
Patiently waiting for the NG+ update Andrew is working on and I'll pick up the game again.

One of the new option updates is to auto complete minigames
I haven't tested it out but I bet it will let you auto-win quintar races with a % chance

Fancy Quintar Egg
how the fuck do you get up north east of the Quintar Reserve?

Andrew, Son of Dob, Last of his Name has a video game?

Sorry. Meant to say
Woke Red

glide from chalice

you don't need to catch any fancy. You can breed one using the chart
all of these are pretty easy to get
woke river took me the longest to find but it's north of the ninja crystal as you're heading down the mountain

woke red is right by the quintar racing area, just south east

It lets you auto-win quintar races, first place, always.

Is it good? How much party building freedom do you have?

you SHOULD be proud of yourself, give yourself a pat on the back bro

It is good. You have a main job, sub job and passives you unlock from any job. Basically just FFV.

I worked for me with 3 win aqua, but I think black guy still needed 4 wins.

I managed to beat the sekrit boss and got the map during the race so I really could have gotten that idea in the hindsight
