i highly advise trying sorceries, i never played a sorcerer in previous games but in this one its super fun. i started as STR/INT but now im purely INT. for my next playthrough ill go DEX/FTH

i really enjoyed stunlocking everything with dual colossal weapons. got my friend to drop me his giant crusher so i powerstanced them

the one I roll and R1
oh wait

Glintstone magic is the best, comet azur for 10k+ damage

Guard counter build. Barricade Shield, dump stats are Str, Vig, End and Mnd. I also went Fth just for some options.

Had most fun with an Int build powerstancing MLGS and steeple.

Had to switch out steeple for another greatsword with bloodhound step for Malenia though. Fucking cunt.

A flamberge build with bloodflame incantations. I didn't think much of them until I really started to get into it. Bloodflame Talons in particular was massively better than I was expecting and that was before the 1.04 buff.

b-but le movesets!

This armor its in the game?

it's the vagabond starting armor

you can buy it at a merchant if you started as another class

dual wield straight sword with quickstep

Nice, but the helmet HS that face thing down right?
I want a fucking faceless armor like the elite knight chad set

Strength pyromancer

No but there is nothing stopping you from just using another helmet that looks like that

I like elite knight like helmets

Mind Flayer cosplay is incredibly fun, especially for low/mid level PvP. I wear Octopus Head, some robe, wield a cold-infused Nightrider Flail and use the Gravity Well sorcery to pull people in and bash them over the head.
Just try sorceries in general. I'm a STR fag but doing an INT playthrough really opens your mind and makes you realize how the games balance came to be.

Just use the basic knight helmet you get in the roundtable

INT/FTH/ARC using albinauric staff and dragon communion seal though admittedly it's probably not as good after they scaled adula's down and nerfed the status scaling. I still have 314 sorcery scaling (+golden vow boost so it's about equal to 75 INT) and 311 incant scaling with my setup (22 INT + 10 from physick, 26 FTH, 50 ARC) so really you can just fuck around

END build, big ass shield, big ass sword, knight armor. I am a tank that equips shabriri’s woe and aggression enemies/bosses for the host to wail on safely

pure INT build.

I don't know about fun but I will tell you the most /fa/ build.
>male
>vagabond body armor cause it has a cool cape
>no helmet
>dual wielding straight sword so when you block with it you look cool
>quickstep
>incantations

Faith/dex build with raptor talons and morningstar. Give talons bloodhound step and morning star raptors of the mist. Give yourself some ez to spam spell like homing bolt or black flame as soon as they step away hit em with whatever u like and as soon as they get close you’re a ninja with strike and bleed damage.
I know there’s better builds out there but I was having a blast. Green turtle talisman and faith canvas talisman ftw.

Power.stancing great curved swords was pretty good.

STR/INT Royal Greatsword Blaidd cosplay build with cold Clayman's Harpoon and Ice Spear ashes has been ridiculously fun, the buffed Royal GS weapon art is amazing and Colossal Sword speed is great now

my actual biological brother
I'm still working on my first play through. Started as this and have been loving it. I pretended I was a grizzled veteran with his trusty great shield, and used all sorts of ordinary weapons like maces, spears, and flails. No swords though.
Unfortunately, I stumbled upon a forbidden secret and now bear the mark of the frenzied flame. The madness has changed me.
But luckily, fingerprint great shield still works with this theme so I get to continue blocking and guard countering away. Just my stats are fucky now and I don't do much damage.

How do you block while dual wielding?

Anons, if you were to animate a scene or boss fight in Elden Ring using the iconic look of one of the starting classes, what class and what scene would you animate?

Example:

Samurai on horseback fighting Radahn
Vagabond haggard and battered facing down Hoarah Loux, Warrior.
Prisoner finding Ranni and her Finger covered in blood.
Astrologist finding the lost city of Nokstella.

Strength faith

Spellblade, best of both world. Dual wield frost or magic raipers/straight swords and use ranged or AoE spells when needed.

By using a weapon that comes with dual wielding built in, ie Ornamental straight sword and claws.

sheeit I've never even tried dual wielding in my 100 hours. So for example if you have the claws (a natively paired weapon) do you just press L1 to block? L2?

DEX / FAI is the only correct way to play

>Hero fighting the Beast Clergyman with a large axe

I've started my second run as a pure strength with the greatsword and I'd probably not recommend it. It's way easier than my original katana run. Fuck bleed, don't need it when your weapon just deletes bosses in a couple of swings.

Can't decide whether to play NG+ with my level 150 Str/Fai Vagabond as a different spec, or start a new character completely (probably melee Intelligence)

>]
When you two-hand natively paired weapons you swap to dual wielding. This allows dual wield light and strong attacks and blocking is still the block button. Tehy're not as limited as classic dualwielding but unfortunately the ornamental sword's stats suck.

If you didn't know, you can get rid of the frenzy with Millicent's questline

Also my favourite build was using a Heavy Claymore 2H at 55 Strength and Flame of the Redmanes, the poise damage was fucking insane and I beat Malenia on my 3rd attempt

>Prophet pulling Gideon into an inescapable Frenzy.

the prisoner's starting look is so unique that he could pass as the main character in almost any scene

>the poise damage was fucking insane and I beat Malenia on my 3rd attempt
As long as you time your attacks so she doesn't have hyperarmor, i's easy as fuck to bully her.

this but INT/FAI

I got around to doing Fists and I have to say, the feeling of just punching the shit out of things with charged R2's is still great after 40 hours
But near the end-game, the lack of range is starting to become REAL fucking annoying

I agree. seems all prisoners get their own custom made skull cage as well. Kinda based.

However if we didn't assume that the player would do all questlines, what quest and/or ending would you associate the prisoner the most with?
For Example, the Astologer's gimmick fits well with going through Ranni's quest, the Prophet or Wretch going frenzy flame.

they're said too be convicted of a particularly heinous crime, so maybe the dung eater's ending? that was my favorite of the bunch but i am a retarded edgelord

New characters are always more fun than NG+, I already have 5 characters that have progressed to the endgame.

FTH/ARC with powerstanced bleed whips and blood/dragon cult/frenzy incantations
STR/INT with frost weapons and carian spells
STR/FTH sword and board fire knight build with Flaming Strike/Flames of the Redmanes and situational giantsflame spells

Not the best, but my favorite gimmick build has been my Dragoon.
>greatspears
>dragon incantations
>claw talisman
Jump attacks and dragon breath!

the prisoner was almost definitely a carian knight or at least training to become one before he was imprisoned, possibly during the revolt at raya lucaria. keeping that in mind, ranni's quest would probably make the most sense (trying to reclaim knighthood/place in the carian royal family).

Started with dual katanas at launch. Just the base ones and never tried to op shit. Stopped after the capital.

Started and finished the game with a str fth build after. Beat every boss and it was a nice satisfying run.

Now I'm running a knight / fighter with dual bastard swords ir short swords with mixing up the ashes constantly, using pots, etc and trying to utilize all strats, weps, items as I go. Having the most fun with this. Feels like I'm pushing my skill ceiling by approaching everything carefully and differently. Doing a lot of co op too to help people out.

Another kind user tipped me off to curing the frenzy. I'd like to cure it so my weapon choices open back up and my stat spread can be better optimized, but I am also quite conflicted. I really like the story implications of the three fingers and I'm proud to bear the mark of this weird, secret, aberrant shit.

My first build with full INT but I did feel bad that I missed out on so many cool weapons. I was glad the state requirements for the MLG sword were meant to accommodate light INT builds. Now I’m running STR/FAI and it’s fucking fun smashing things with the Golden Halberd.

Carian Knight. Carian int skills a very fun, with the sword moves, flint blades and Loretta’s greatbow. Carian Knight’s Sword is really cool and fun to use, especially early on when the R2 can block effectively. and Carian Grandeur just got a buff. Carian Retaliation got nerfed but it’s still great for parries, which imo make the game a lot more fun. You can of course branch out to use other int spells and other weapons, but it’s a nice theme to start from. Start as a prisoner obviously.

Save a Larval Tear or 3 for the jar themed stuff toward endgame. Its not good but its really jank and fun having 3 different buffs for your jar related items.

That's a good point, should we assume our character had a place in the lands between before being banished by Marika or were they a descendant of Tarnished banished? I'd assume the former for most origins barring perhaps the Samurai.

What Carian abilities are better as a spell or Weapon Skill? Since you can get them as both?

>What Carian abilities are better as a spell or Weapon Skill?
You want Carian Retaliation as a Shield skill so you can also abuse the sweet parry frames (makes a medium shield better than a buckler). For the weapon skill, Carian Grandeur is unique in that it has no spell equivalent, so it's probably the best option. However, glintstone pebble and ice spear are fantasticif you're happy to move a little bit away from using strictly Carian weapon skills. Both the initial spell and the follow up R2 thrust hit for a lot and deals big posture damage. You could also use the Glintblade Phalanx ash, but imo it doesn't combo as well as the Glintstone Pebble or Ice Spear ashes.

Interested in making a bleed build without Rivers of Blood, like a Twinblade, Greatsword or something

Bleed viper's fang.
Poison and bleed everywhere with your fists

I got stuck on my magic build so I made a wretch and have been using what I find and Holy FUCK it's so much more fun have 100% control

>Guard counter build

I find the greatblade phalanx spell to have high stagger values

what's a build that makes you feel like an unstoppable maniac?
