No Fang, no buy.

this is the future DLC defenders wanted.

SEGA continuing its trend where after the western branch does something that salvages a scrap of Sonic's dignity (i.e. the movie sequel), the Japanese division storms in and says
>You think THAT was good? Well, what if we give you...something awful!?

mirror mode is pre-order exclusive?
anyway im probably just gonna get deluxe edition since its 5 euro more than standard
its worth it for the only good sonic games in widescreen

At least it's only like 5 bucks more.

Yes sega are greedy kikes like square enix. We know.

My fucking eyes

>Emulation
Literal retard

Still buying it

I really don't understand why Sega just doesn't give sonic to Sega of America. They're really doing themselves a disservice to their mascot by not doing so. Sonic never caught on in Japan all that much anyway. Let Sega of Japan stay in charge of most of their games, and just give sonic to the branch that actually gives a fuck and knows what their doing with it. What the hell is the issue?

Attached: 23a9061f9cf3e034fe846d3e20f8ee53.jpg (500x556, 44.35K)

I can only assume that part of it is some backwards Japanese corporate culture where they want complete control over their brand even as they tank their reputation because of it.
Honestly I think we're pretty lucky that the western side of the company at least has some stakes in the series

tbqh I just assumed this was a SOA led collection anyways considering
>the animation artist is a burger
>the lead programmer or w/e is a burger from mania
>burgergame spinball is acknowledged on one of the menu backgrounds

Are the games even 60 FPS? If not, they'll never be the definitive versions.

>Buying old-ass games you could emulate on a toaster

Anyone who buys this game is wasting their money. I swear, Sonic has the most autistic fanbase, and Sega knows this...

Attached: 1274040560524.jpg (720x480, 86.59K)

That doesn't answer the question.
Thanks for wasting my time.

Great, so you're wasting your time AND money

I think you're kind of proving my point...

The main menu has these little character dioramas and islands, but I have no fucking clue why the animation and looking over them is apart of the $5 deal.
No, it's one of those things where instead of unlocking it in-game for doing stuff it's auto-unlocked

Attached: 1544232752099.png (863x795, 621.91K)

there's a classic mode for 4:3 30fps and an anniversary mode for widescreen 60fps running on the retro engine

>Pay more for garbage Hesse zoomer animations
I hate this zoomer Hyper Potions/Hesse shit so much
I can't be the only one who hates this overly uguu kawaii bullshit portrayal of Classic Sonic with this garbage ear-rape music?!

I especially hate how Hesse has become the dominant Classic Sonic artist when what made Classic Sonic art so good was that many artists did their own renditions for each game from Ohshima to Yamaguchi to Takashi Thomas Yuda to Akira Watanabe to Kazuyuki Hoshino to Yuji Uekawa etc.

On a sidenote, there is no way the 3&K has the Michael Jackson tracks either.
In a perfect world we would have the original music as well as all 41 original demo tape tracks MJ and his team composed as a bonus unlockable or something.

Attached: mcsonic.gif (320x224, 7.1K)

I hate the Hyper Potions shit but I don't mind Hesse. I would prefer something less stiff though, like the Sonic CD animations.

Sega of America are garbage.
Whitehead is an Australian and the Mania team(who are overrated anyways) are scattered throughout different countries.

If I were in charge I'd hire Lange or whatever the name was of the guy who made Sonic Utopia and bring back Hirokazu Yasuhara as well as designer/director.
I'd mix them with the JP Sonic Team staff and have them work on a 3D Classic Sonic game figuring out how to bring Sonic into the 3rd dimension at last.
Utopia has some good things like the physics engine but ultimate it's a tech demo but with some direction there could be something interesting made from it.

Yasuhara not being involved in the Adventure games in any capacity back in the day probably hurt those games big time.

I'd also have them make a new Sonic 4 first with Cuphead-tier aesthetics/animation and a non-Hessefied art direction and have them re-release Sonic 4 Eps 1 and 2 as "Sonic the Portable" Eps 1 and 2 to rectify that giant mistake.
The level design in Mania was boring garbage so having the godlike designer that is Yasuhara in the team would fix that as well and maybe the Mania Team would finally learn what makes good Sonic level design and game design in general because they got the physics rights but the game design was wack.

>Are the games even 60 FPS?
yes. you can play classic version or the version thats built from the ground up which is the 60fps version

Dumbass.
The Classic games always ran at 60fps you absolute shitposter.

60FPS is a given but it's too low of a framerate.
They should have the framerate unlocked but Whitehead and his precious "Muh leaderboards" won't allow higher framerates than 60 which is bullshit because it would benefit Sonic so much.

>you can play classic version
No you can't. It's just a 4:3 mode of the new remastered version.
They wouldn't be so dumb as to just put an emulated rom in there.

Hesse is not as good of an animator as the guy who did the CD animations and Digital Animation looks terrible compared to good old Cel Animation.

I strongly agree.

This character select screen is so fucking lazy and ugly looking.
Also why is the Sonic 2 sprite being used instead of the Sonic 1 one in fucking Sonic 1?

Attached: 1650481125609.png (935x443, 280.05K)

>No MJ Music
Trash

>lose your shitty arcades
>start nickel and dimeing features in every videogame you make
cool

I truly hope this shitty soulless company dies one of these days.

I mean that sort of mentality IS what killed Kemono Friends so it's a reasonable possibility.

>shitty laggy emulation
For once these are recreated from the ground up on a new engine.

Is that for real? Look how many options, why SEGA. Damn it.

Attached: 1629421280199.png (500x375, 93.79K)

>No, it's one of those things where instead of unlocking it in-game for doing stuff it's auto-unlocked
Was that 100% confirmed? If so you're paying an extra five buck for LITERALLY nothing, an actual scam.

Sad part it they won't change it now since they've already took preorders.

Attached: Sonic Origins.jpg (2133x756, 502.43K)

>Also why is the Sonic 2 sprite being used instead of the Sonic 1 one in fucking Sonic 1?
That notes icon in Sonic's panel might indicate that he's customizable, probably for his extra moves and even sprites.

lol

It was the same in Monkey Ball Banana Mania
>Base game with unlockable content
>Pre-order to get some of the unlockables early
>Extra cosmetics as DLC
>The original music as separate DLC
>Deluxe Edition includes the aforementioned cosmetic and music DLC
Prepare for extra characters to be additional paid DLC that Deluxe edition owners also have to pay for

Last time they did that we got Sonic Boom

Who the fuck cares?
Only 3&K is new in this.
And it's guaranteed that Sonic CD opening/outro won't have the lyrics(and if they do they will use the shitty 1996 PC re-recordings instead of the original 1993 ones) and it definitely won't have the MJ music for 3&K once again and zoomers will still buy it because they are massive soulles faggots who unironically prefer those shit placeholder tracks from the Beta for Ice Cap, Carnival and Launch Base because they have faggot Mickey Mouse ears.

Garbage ass character select screen for Sonic 1 too(worse than the original mobile version) which for some fucking reason uses the Sonic 2 sprite for Sonic.
More terribad Hesse animations which were already bad in Mania and don't fit with the classics.
The Sonic Origins title screen looks even worse than the Sonic 2 HD title screen and in general looks like some cheap vectorized garbage you'd find in a fan project compared to at least Sonic Mania's pixel animation intro which looked good.

This looks garbage in all fronts. At least Mania looked professional even if I had my issues with it.
Even the Mania intro or the Mania Adventure cartoons looked better than these new animations even though I hate Hesse's style in general.

To think they took this long to make this collection for what amounts to a bunch of crappy animations and downgraded character select screens.
What was so hard about copying Mania/3K's save file select format and put it into Sonic 1/2/CD?

So Sonic Frontiers will be shit. Cool.

This is dumb. You can attach the abilities without changing his sprite.

youtube.com/watch?v=lixTJBSJTzY

looking back at things
Sega is utterly incompetent in many ways

Attached: 1639107609678.png (933x695, 946.25K)

Attached: buying bing bing in the year of our lord 2022.png (1452x521, 947.78K)

Why buy this shit? If you want to play sonic 1, 2, CD and 3K. Just play Sonic forever, Sonic 2 absolute, Sonic 3 AIR and Sonic CD decompiled, you get most of the same features advertised here except for knuckles not being on the Sonic CD decomp.
I really hope that isn't the case but sega is gay enough to do that

I already have theses games on cart and as roms. I don't give a shit about widescreen enough to pay $40 for this. I'll wait till it's on sale for $3.99 in a couple of months or just pirate it.

Not on Switch lol

Based solution finding hero.

Sonic Boom cartoon was good. The game was only trash fire because SoJ came in with demands and fucked the devs.

>implying
It was Izuka that stuck his nose in and upended the table. Also Sega of Japan were the ones that forced the team to release the game on Wii U

>hard mode is paid dlc

Attached: 1638216193074.png (600x486, 324.74K)

Nobody said the sprites would be tied to the abilities, assuming you can even change his sprites to begin with that is.

>Sonic Mania is a faithful recreation of old games, if a bit too derivative, but is high quality
>Sega mega drive collection actually has the roms inside of it, so you can rip them and play them on your emulator of choice
>the sonic movie turned out really good, as did the sequel

Sega decides that it's having way too much success, and decides to crash this plane with no survivors.

By finally giving fans the definitive Taxman remakes on systems other than fucking phones like they've been asking for for nearly ten years now?

Seems Naka was a pain to work with

This is basically SEGA going "Hmm how can we milk the "classic" brand while not alienating our foreign talent pool and reminding those filthy gaijin fans that WE used to make great games?

It's not even a hard mode, it's hard difficulty for missions.

It's the same program. The "classic" version is just running in 4:3 mode. The footage of Sonic 1 proves that. Genesis wasn't capable of rotation, but Eggman's giant wrecking ball is rotating as it swings.

This is literally shit see

It's a monkey paw, user. We finally get the taxman versions of 1 and 2, and 3 finally gets a release at all, but they've been hamstrung. Infinite lives with no way to turn it off unless you gimp yourself with 4:3.
