New Postal comes out

I bought it, played an hour and then uninstalled it again.
Feels like an alpha, terrible performance, and in general just meh.

The crazy anti violence reaction to postal 1 was just part of the things postal 2 talked about. They also touched on Waco, post 9/11 terrorism fears, and hyper consumerism for literal shit.
I feel like people just went "Funny piss button makes me go laugh" and I guess those people will be happy with the new entry.

i can't decide if that's surprising because the bar for being controversial is so low now or obvious because of how desensitized people are to some things (i.e. violence, commentary) is.

I have mixed feelings too

Things have changed since Postal 2 days.
Nowadays, the game won't get flak unless devs refuse to cater to SJW/LGHDTV+/whatever the mental illness is trendy.

What did you want it to look like? Postal 2 didn't have ground breaking graphics when it came out either.
I tried it again a few months ago and they did make it relatively smoothly. At the start it was a stuttering mess.

First of all it's understandable, game development costs increased quite a bit, RWS need to eat. They need to make sure they rech a broad audience.
The problem is that the game isn't that fun.
The main errands in Postal 2 always ended with some funny "punchline". Most missions here just end without any consequence. Just in the first day the animal collector and the sewer mission. I thought the sewer mission will end with like a fun boss or something. Nope. You walk out and job done.

I had to decrease the rendering resolution to 60% It's ok now. They tried to cull the insides of buildings when you see them from outside, but I think too many objects are rendered at once.

School shooter level, killing a parkland baldie/greta type, blm cant breef riot/charlottesville setpiece, russia is the good guys. If they really wanted there's a few ways that don't just rely on identity politics.

This is my point. Even if they did something dated like making a joke about pic related it would at least feel like it's saying something.

The absolute closest Postal 2 got to this level of edge was the terrorist stuff and even then it was pretty tame "they smell bad, go ALLALLALA and blow up". It was closer to Family Guy/South Park "edge" than internet edge.

The immigrant topic is kinda handled in the game.

They didn't bother to do anything edgy.

I have faith they could make funny dialogue around both of those people, yes, and mass gatherings of people tend to be the most fun areas to cause havoc in Postal and allow many approaches, so it could definitely work as well.
