slavscum arent human, let alone western

it's a reaction to this new wave of minimalistic graphic design that focuses on delivering the idea instead of standing out with bold aesthetics.

kojima art directors managed to combine minimalism in a great manner with death stranding, a UI that fits within the lore and the artstyle. but that's a rare case of good Ui in a modern game.

show me a good-looking UI

agreed with the UI. the UX however is extremely shitty

>poland
>western
oh lmao

Yeah there's way too many sub menus and for some reason you have to press and hold a ton instead of just using separate buttons

UI takes away from the (((immersion)))

I blame Apple for starting this shit, but from the kind of crap I've heard devs spew it sounds like they think this minimalist UI stuff is somehow morally superior because it's easier for retards to understand.

They make the exact same kind of trash that American devs do and it's all run by the same people. You know what the fuck I mean.

it's serviceable not extremely shitty but i agree that it's too cluttered and confusing.

They hire generic web designers and "ux experts" as developers now. That's why it always looks like a hipster startup.

SOVL

>UX
>UX
>UX
fuck off with your faggy UX bullshit
if you had your way every game would be the fucking same, even more than they are already

Persona 5 and Dead Space come to my mind when thinking of nice UI. I don't think anything has surpassed them.

Part of it may have to do with the growing popularity of oleds and trying to avoid burn in of static graphics.

do you know what UX means retard? It means User eXperience. Meaning how the user interacts with the UI. UI is relatively easy, UX is much more difficult to get right.

Go back to school and get a job, you fucking tard.

I blame Skyrim. Skyrim started this "UI looks like soulles mobile app and has no connection with themes and artstyle of the game" trend.

>game is extremely successful
>clueless devs try to copy everything
>they end up just copying all the bad parts of it
tale as old as time

This game is based for making the UI actually look medieval. I hate that modern RPGs go for IOS looking UIs despite the games being set in ye olde times.

soulful

Why can't he use the silver sword on people

Astral Chain had a gorgeous UI.

Why, because it's for monsters!

I don't remember the witcher 3 inventory screen looking like this

updates

But humans are the real monsters.

Nintendo innovates and the others companies just mindlessly copy as usual, while also somehow producing lesser quality results

Shut up dumb nigger

What the fuck is this and why are the boots above the trousers?!

More games need to hire graphic designers. Persona 5's UI looks really nice.

It's Witcher 3, the game that, for some reason, made millions of people think CDPR was a good developer and that Cyberpunk would be good as well.

UI stolen from the division

graphic designers will make more minimal stuff, the persona 5 was handled by an art director.

I see this kind of shit constantly and it makes me wonder if one of the requirements of ascending the corporate ladder is abandoning any sort of integrity (in this case artistic).

They catch the eye and animate just the right amount of frames to not feel annoying. Hats off to them.

I dont care about the UI. Tons of great games like STALKER and Ace Combat have shitty/boring menu design, but the games are fun so people just call it "soul"
Skyrim wasn't quite windows 10 sterile, there was a bit of stylization with shaping the lines into simple rune shapes

barely

But both STALKER and Ace Combat have appropriately themed UIs. STALKER's is bad (even though it got progressively better), but it still contributed to the atmosphere.

>posting a mod
Real problem are people who like this shit because "it looks modern" and similar vapid reasons.

>It means User eXperience. Meaning how the user interacts with the UI.
You people are a lost cause. Who the fuck gets filtered and annoyed by fucking menu screen or pressing buttons? Everything is so standardized nowadays that they are completely soulless.

i couldn't care less about their hate towards good looking UI, but why do they hate good gameplay?

Attached: 1596314138147.jpg (1200x1200, 222.08K)

is the game worth it if all i crave is some first person sword combat?

The combat is shit. Ruined by like 2 mechanics. Still a good game, but if your only interest is the combat play mordhau or something

your average player would look at this and say it looks too busy because he's distracted by detail work. that's the thought process behind modern UIs and why they're minimal with lots of empty screen real estate.

This, also different designs for different quest chains

Who said anything about getting filtered? Why do you people always have to take words out of everyone's mouth? Or do you just not realize that it's possible to think a game's UI/UX sucks and still be able to play it?

I'm not saying I'm going to drop a game over UI but if I see shit I'm going to call it out for being shit.

>Or do you just not realize that it's possible to think a game's UI/UX sucks and still be able to play it?
Show me an example, you stupid nigger. Every time I play a game, menus are an after thought and the gameplay is always important.

Looks like a mobile game.

>your average player would look at this and say it looks too busy
No the average player would look at that and say "cool knights and shit". The average player doesn't give a shit, that's why they accept modern dogshit UI

Please show me who in this thread said that the gameplay wasn't more important than the UI.

See? You have no argument and you dodged mine like a retarded faggot. Go suck some nigger "UI/UX developer" cock that you like so much. Can't even give me an example of bad UX.

Because I'm arguing that point you stupid shit. I'm asking you why you think it's impossible for someone to dislike an aspect of a game and still play the game regardless.

My bad, meant to say "not arguing that point." I should also mention I'm not the one you originally replied to with the Pepe reaction image.

Well, yeah. Integrity is nice on a CV and all, but it doesn't pay the bills.

Yeah I dunno why I didn't figure that one out myself.

As insanely busy as the UI is, everything besides the frames has a point.

The clean viewport would be bigger if this game wasn't stuck on a 10 years old smartphone CPU and 720p. You can blame XC2 for trying to be a complicated JRPG on the Switch, I'm going to blame the Switch for being garbage hardware.
Also those labels around the 4 buttons can be disabled.

Not that user but I've got one:
In the new Lego Star Wars game, there's a little minigame you play when unlocking doors with R2D2 where you have to rotate some rings to match up. The controls don't make any fucking senese. But like with most shitty UX you figure it out eventually. Nobody's filtered by it, it's just stupid. I did drop the game though because it was boring shit.
