Burnout Paradise says hello.

I'd be fine with ads for like McDonalds

battlefield 2142 says hi

Cool piracy wins again

>*stands up*
>MCDONALDS!
>*sits down*

>I will now pirate and mod an ad block on your game

Meh if an advertisement didn't occupy that spot it would be an unfunny joke of the devs of a fake product.

Good thing I'm a PC gamer

Attached: 1586999272524.png (680x383, 194.6K)

if its just free to play I don't care because I don't play those. I will not buy single player games that do this.

Lots of old spice and burger king ads in Need For Speed Underground 2, lol. Crazy looking back at it

>playing modern games

?????????

Hello newfag that doesn't know about the mid 2000s.

>good thing I'm a pc player
/pizza thanks bro

Thank God I dont bother with free to play shit

Yes you will because it's a slow bur tactic.
First free to play then free dlc with adds, then alternate ending with them.
Then exclusive characters then all games .
The gamer will eat the adds

does anyone else become so repulsed by ads that you refuse to buy anything from the company that wasted your time with the shitty ad?
i sure do
am i the only one?
ads should be money-repellants, but clearly they work or they wouldnt exist

that's a great way to increase piracy, I approve

>if its just...
Slippery slope.

Nintendo can't stop winning.

Yes people are trash

I've avoided gacha and mobile games so I can avoid shitty AAA cashgrabs. It's the other games who will eat the bugs and ruin it for everyone else.

Yes, but you and I are a rare breed. I've seen so many fucking retards in university not have any sort of adblock extensions.

Good now i know wich products to avoid

I mean ads like that can be funny to see. Especially if the game is supposed to be realistic. Though if they start doing shit like putting a big ad during loading time now that's disgusting.

>PC players can use adblockers and use mods to delete or remove in-game ads
:)

Oh how cute; you're assuming they have actual morals that place them above double-dipping and placing ads into shit you've already paid for.

product placement in my games
no such thing
just stop playing shit games

Suprised it hasn't happened sooner honestly.
>Create billboard in game that's connected to a server and you can just change the png it displays
>Offer companies an ad space in your game for a fee like any billboard
>Shill your upcoming games.

was just thinking this
all this does is create inevitable licensing nightmares.
of course you can patch shit out nowadays, but i can imagine it's still a headache.

I can't wait to see pay pigs react to niggers in their load screens

Yes but it's not that extreme for me.
If I see something being shilled too many times I'm way less likely to buy it.

*gets banned for hacking*

home...

This only serves to push Online Only even harder.
If your ads can't be updated in near-real time then you are a red mark in their profit plans.

burnout paradise had ads in on billboards in 2008
What's the difference

Gamers ready to pirate future games.

indeed, the internet is unusable without an adblocker

Attached: 1632342766739.webm (1488x714, 2.72M)

if it's diagetic like crazy taxi, i don't care.
The only problem i can think of is ad's demanding their products be worshipped as infallible.

I avoided Dishonered for years because I kept getting the same YouTube ad

You still have to spend time doing that which is retarded.

That's what internet without adblock looks like now? Holy shit

>pay more for less
>no physical copies
>no physical goodies
>no manuels
>dlc, gaypasses and other jewish tictacs
>70 bucks
>+ adds

Naaah.

This will happen. Games that use real cars can't have damage be done to the cars. Games that use real guns with their official names don't have things like jams or misfires.

This bums me out, because I love fake ads from made up companies in games. Always catches me off guard.

I don't watch TV and block all ads on my PC so I don't even know what's being advertised to me. But yes, on the rare occasion that I see an ad it usually turns me off from the brand. I almost exclusively rely on word-of-mouth and user reviews. Fuck ads.

>new game comes out
>tout destructible environments, "Nowhere is safe."
>take cover in any building with Logitech plastered all over it since they'll be indestructible

We still need a "the guys who own the game can release it anywhere with whatever they licensed forever" thing. It's ridiculous that they have to renegotiate a fucking logo appearing in some cornber every time they want to re-release the already finished game you have permission for.

we are kindred spirits

>>tout destructible environments
Yeah, right

dios mio...

Attached: file.png (1280x720, 828.79K)

>burnout 3
>see ads for battlefield modern combat

I'm not stupid enough to play american games so I can't see this effecting me

Yes. Ads are just associated with tedium, like doing chores except without the benefit of having a clean room.

devs nowadays wouldn't care about licensing since modern games are made to be disposable. they want you to forever forget a game once they release the new one

>always online
PCs started most of the worst practices in gaming, like killing physical media.

I don't know, I've never used it but it was an interesting feature. It was technically marketing, sure, but it was also a functional service, and in the end EQ2 was the one getting all the spotlight.

Attached: EQ-pizza.jpg (620x350, 267.32K)

I block all ads on principle, but i find it refreshing to see an ad now and then to judge how bad things are

>I almost exclusively rely on word-of-mouth and user reviews
>trusting the opinion of other people
>many of whom could easily be marketers, glowniggers, actual niggers and jews

The west has so quickly tanked my interest in their AAA schlock. No better time than now to be an indie or Japanese dev.

Ads only directly work on mega normies and to the rest it's about subliminal exposure, consciously most people hate them but when they see a product it instills a sense of familiarity and they'll choose that brand over an unknown brand most of the time. Ads are basically a slow burn effect.

we've know this for months
>console games
give me one reason to care

Attached: 1625198830737m.jpg (702x1024, 104.09K)

Rainbow six vegas did this over a decade ago

If some fucking goober publishers starts putting election ads in my video game I would just drop modern games entirely

>not knowing how to parse useful information from the words of the unwashed masses
>doesn't have a built-in jewdar

Attached: 1586824068604.jpg (894x894, 292.76K)

Late stage capitalism bros..
We won!

i mean who cares, aslong they don't cut your gameplay in the middle to show a 30 sec ad clip like youtube. If you play call of duty and there's a coke can on a table, it just makes the game more realistic in my book.

Thats how it looks like with adblock also since the site would just be blocked and say "please disable adblock to view this page"

>CONSOLES
HAHAHAHAHAHAH

MCDONALDS!

I go so far that I randomize brands that I buy even if it's price inefficient. If anything hints me toward a given product I will assume subconscious advertising slipped in indirectly and avoid it for a literal random choice instead. I hate advertisers more than anyone else on this planet.

IT'S OVER

itll come to pc if the console beta test works out
>but ill just mod them out!
thatll work for single player games, but it would be easy for them to ban you from any online/forced online games for doing it

How is this new? EA did this years ago.

>The game had ended, let's see the Papa John's Play of the Game

Same, can't remember the last time I've seen an ad outside of a billboard or sign on the road.

>oh, and advert, AHHHHH IM GOING INSANE ITS WORSE THAN A BLACK FEMALE PROTAGONIST
>just don’t buy the advertised product

why are some gamers so fucking anti-capitalist

Advertisers deserve a holocaust

>online
thankfully I dont play fortnite
>forced online
no such thing. always online singleplayer is one of those precious few console exclusives you have

Didn’t sport sims already start doing this? I remember seeing articles about games like 2k having in game ad breaks like it was a real game.

>get ready for...
Not even the oldest example.

Attached: 392712-jetmoto2_mountaindew.jpg (854x480, 323.27K)

Gotta love how people think they haven't / couldn't already do this and somehow Sony / MS is needed. Lol.

this shit already exists. Yakuza 5 had billboards for Pepsi and AMD and stuff, I don't remember what the other games had, if any

If they were just going to be putting up ads on ingame billboards or storefronts or really anywhere that fake ads would've already gone they wouldn't be making a big deal about it.
It's obvious they're planning to shove ads in awful places like a 5 second mcdonalds ad anytime you open your inventory or other dystopian things.

>>forced online
>no such thing. always online singleplayer is one of those precious few console exclusives you have
Nu-Hitman says hello

>tfw i read that as aids

You can set up a device on your network with a list of domains to reject meaning it is not changing anything on your PC. PC Chads have always dabbed and will continue to dab on advertisers. I suppose you could get the same effect on a console but good luck doing that if you're too brainlet to use a PC.

Stand up and praise McDonalds was already patented years ago even.

Attached: sony-patent-8246454-01.png (868x688, 27.6K)

ok so you've replaced billboards with ads with empty billboards. That doesn't sound much better.

I don't really care. Generally speaking, if it's not a coca cola ad, then it's a kuma cola ad with the exact same red and white bottle. If it's not McDonalds, it's WcWonalds, with an upside down golden arch. Games have always had ads, they're just mostly unfunny parodies instead. It wouldn't do much for me to see the parodies just changed to actual existing products. My two gripes are when it's oddly in your face, such as the monster ads in Death Stranding, and the fact they will add this shit but the price of games will not come down, and in fact, will likely increase alongside the addition of ads. That's the real problem.
