Nah. I'm a mid thirties guy raised on Squaresoft's golden age, FF7, FFT and Chrono Trigger, and I enjoyed the hell out of FF7R.

If you've paid any attention to any of the mixed media in FF7's compilation, you'd see that FF7R is another entry and that it really does pull a lot in to exoand the setting. I've played the OG FF7 a million times; I don't need to again we with a graphical overlay. FF7R was fresh enough to be interesting on its own, while fleshing out the characters that made FF7 so memorable even more.
