The dev stated that one aspect of the plot, which was already a potential interpretation, was their active intention. An artist confirming certain ideas about their work doesn't make unrelated interpretations of it any less valid. It can still be about overcoming mental struggles, learning to accept parts of yourselves you might not want, and reaching greater heights as a result of coming to terms with your identity - it's just also about transness, because trans people experience the same feelings as the rest of us

I can appreciate that it's a more specific theme, but I don't think there was any intnetion to "limit" the potential interpretations of the rest of the game. Even once the trans themes were confirmed, the rest of the game's tackling of self doubt, anxiety and self improvement weren't affected in any material way. All the "generic" themes that can be drawn from the story can still be interpreted the same way if you want.
