Sonic Origins

What would you add to this game to make it the best it could be? (Gameplay-wise, extra features, etc.)
For me, I think a gallery mode with tons of official artwork would be cool.

the game gear games

Game gear games
Playable Amy/Ray/Mighty

Add the difficulty selections from Sonic Jam instead of just adding an infinite lives mode

Sonic Jam had the original Sonic team rebalance the games and added spin dash to sonic 1 and they never rereleased those versions since, just using genesis roms

>add
Before adding anything, i'd remove the stupid DLC strategy it has.

Playable Metal Sonic

Sonic CD rearrangement that changes the level designs, adds a better final boss, and gives a reason to actually go to the fucking future in stages.

I wouldn't re-release older games for the 9000th time.

Knuckles Chaotix
>BUT IT SUCKS
I don't care. It's the last Classic game to go un-ported. CD was in the same boat too once.

I would like that just for completion's sake but I understand why SEGA didn't put them in;

1. They're not very good
2. People would bitch that they didn't get the 16:9 treatment and extra features that the main games did

Archie cover scans would be cool. Now that the comic is discontinued we can have a complete set unlike Sonic Mega Collection.

Fleetway would be awesome but wont happen because of how obscure it is and because nobody knows who has publishing rights anymore

I want a fairly challenging achievement/trophy list. Something that proves you mastered these games

>Mix feature, each time you die or start a level, you get a random different character
>Sonic R and Sonic the Fighters, with online added
>Zoomed out mode, makes the screen 50% zoomed out allowing you to look more ahead
>Alternate Mania sprites and animation

Make a new game and include it

The Switch version of Sonic 1 had the drop dash from Mania added

>Zoomed out mode, makes the screen 50% zoomed out allowing you to look more ahead

Isn't that what 16:9 does anyway?

It's still too cramped IMO especially compared to the phone versions which have a bigger ratio and make you look more ahead than the 16:9 versions

>Remastered versions of Mainline Game Gear games except Sonic Blast and Sonic 1
>Sonic 1 with Game Gear zones
>Remake version of Kunckles' Chaotix as a unlockable for completing Genesis Sonic titles, with reworked levels and character controls.
>Remastered version of Sonic Spinball as a unlockable for completing Game Gear Sonic titles

Here's your ACTUAL good Sonic collection.

I would have DLC to restore the Michael Jackson tracks in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, while all proceeds in that release goes to Michael Jackson's estate.
I would also have a physical release a year after the initial release which would be called Sonic Origins Plus and it will have the following:
>all DLC included, including the Michael Jackson tracks
>emulations of the 8-bit games and Sega Genesis spinoffs (Spinball, Chaotix)
>HD remasters of Sonic 3D Blast (based on the PC version with some restored features from the Saturn version), Sonic R and Sonic the Fighters
>art gallery
>playable Amy, Metal Sonic, Mighty and Ray
>art book
>soundtrack CDs (Japan-only)
>reversible Mega Drive/Genesis cover art
>digitally restored and 4K remastered Sonic CD FMVs from the original 16mm or 35mm negatives, with no DNR

I would also love 4:3 and ultrawide support. And it would also be great if Sonic Mania can be patched with 4:3 and ultrawide support.

Reminder that the Digital Deluxe Edition, or the Standard Edition with both DLCs, still cost less than the more lacklustre Super Mario 3D All Stars and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition.

Super Mario 3D All Stars was 720p-only and had no widescreen even in docked mode, had no extras at all outside of a soundtrack player, and had no QoL additions/fixes or additional in-game content.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition has botched graphics, even less features than the original versions, bugs and glitches up the wazoo, and even worse performance on Switch than the PS2 version.
Both of these collections cost $60 while Sonic Origins: Digital Deluxe Edition costs $45.

Sonic Origins is a much better deal than Super Mario 3D All Stars and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition.

I'd add the 8-bit Sonic games.

I heard someone talk about a fat Amy mod, is that an actual thing lol?

Yes and it's for Sonic Mania Plus.
It turns Knuckles into fat Amy.

Mighty and Ray playable.
Maybe Amy if they can figure out how to make her jank ass Advance 1 moveset work with 1 button instead of 2.

Remaster this for a laugh.

the official list is the most confusing shit in existence
have the fanmade human-readable version fren

These have the same ratio as the phone versions retard.

Sonic World 2. I don't care if it's a glorified menu, it was, dare I say, comfy and soulful. But really, it allows for other characters to show up, spout trivia and other fun dialogue, and maybe offer up challenges in throughout the World like in Jam too. Add in a Day/Night cycle (with matching music) for maximum soul. I will now buy your overpriced game.

GG Sonic games had some gems like Triple Trouble and Tails Adventures though. But more importantly they're interesting historical pieces that would take very little effort to include. Throw in the MS versions of Sonic 1, 2, and Chaos and little blurbs explaining their place in Sonic's history. Maybe not make them a selling point per se, just a fun unlockable bonus for completionists.

Justify the $40 price point when Sonic Gems was only $30 and had more games

>Origins
Enhanced ports based of 3 previous remakes + 1 new remake built on a new engine
>Gems
Untouched ROMS and ISOs

On-the-fly character switching (Heroes Mode)

Alternate soundtracks by Tee Lopes

Endless mode where you go through random chunks from all 4 games. Unlike Mega Man, Sonic doesn't have a traditional health system to make it a challenge so maybe you can do time bonus reward to see how far you can get.

Inflation

Genesis collection was only $30

Lmao

because patpigs WILL pay that much, consolecucks especially

>enhanced
It'd be a miracle if they're not more bugged than og games.

>Untouched rom/iso >enhanced port

You are a fucking idiot user

Like in Mega and Gems, original content that makes people later down the line nostalgic for the compilation itself instead of the roms that are available elsewhere anyway.
youtube.com/watch?v=EmFsRw6zGi0

>It'd be a miracle if they're not more bugged than og games.
I'd be surprised if they were given the team behind these ports being Mania and the fan favorite mobile ports.

We've already seen 3 of the 4 games work without issues and bugs squashed.

Include that and not chaotix

The Dream was obviously the full 30 Sonic games made during the console manufacturer era of Sega (Genesis/MD/GG/Pico/Arcade/PC/Saturn/DC/NGPC). But that was a pipe dream.
As is, I hope that some of the unlockables are the raw roms of the easily emulatable games. I highly doubt they'd put anything from the Saturn era.

>Sonic Jam style Sonic World 2
That would require the people working on this collection to have enough freedom and passion to do something that fans would really appreciate. Instead we get cookie cutter, barely passes the finish line, run of the mill menus and little to no bonuses.

We'll never get anything with that much soul anymore. Everything is too corporate and no one cares about their projects.

Attached: 1649731429384.gif (160x220, 308K)

You are full of shit

Attached: Screenshot_2022-04-21-13-59-13-179_com.sega.sonic1px.jpg (2340x1080, 1.15M)

It would NEVER happen because people probably wouldn't even care for this, I wish we could have some sort of expanded multiplayer like Sonic2/Mania's that gets acts from all 4 games.

Hub world like Sonic Jam
Modes are buildings
>Joyopolis themes Arcade Building
Games Included:
1, 2, 3&K, CD.
Unlockable Bonus Games:
Sonic Chaos, Sonic Triple Trouble, and 3D Blast DX
>Museum
Museum Content:
Promotional Art, 3D rendered game boxes for entire mainline series, concept art, old developer interviews
>Theater
Theater/Music Stage:
Sonic CD's animated intro, TV advertisements, and other animated clips

Then you include all of Sonic's friends around the hub world walking around. Maybe Big is fishing in a stream and Tails is working on the Tornado.

> have to pay for animations
Well what does the main menu look like without them then?

Full compatibility between every character and every game, Metal and Amy playable, maybe Mighty and Ray?

Fully customisable settings so you can have widescreen and lives without them being locked to seperate modes.

Physical release.

Chaotix would have been a nice inclusion, and maybe the game gear games remade, but that'd be a high order.

As is, I'll wait for it to go on sale.

Attached: 1626718671515.png (3000x1600, 2.02M)

>All proceeds go to the Jackson estate

It won't happen then

>Saturn era

The only Sonic games to even come out on the Saturn were Fighters and 3D blast

Sonic 3 is already such a long package (No Mania tier bullshit where you just play as a gimped Sonic route as Knuckles but one stage is different oh wow) that I can't really think of anything they could/should add to arrange mode. Maybe iron out some of the kinks in Chuckles mode (Like no Kncukles route in Flying Battery), maybe add an excuse for the bubble shield to be useful in the second half of the game...that's all I got.

they're originally meant for 16:9 (like Mania is) but the phone versions were updated to dynamically scale to your phone
may i be the first to say that you have a very long phone holy fuck

>"new Sonic game!"
>it's old Sonic games
It's times like this that I wonder if Nintendo is right to keep IPs on ice for a while.

Attached: FIVHKnPacAAejY7.jpg (1307x1771, 548.03K)

I would cancel this shit because fuck off why does sega keep getting allowed to re-release the exact same 4 games over and over and over and over and over and over and over again
With all the money they've spent re-releasing the same games they could've done a new Sonic 4 to replace the horrible original sonic 4

Fighters never came out on the Saturn
The Saturn Era games were
>The Fighters (Arcade)
>3D Blast (Genesis & Saturn & PC Versions)
>G Sonic (GG)
>Sonic Schoolhouse (PC)
>JAM (Saturn)
>R (Saturn & PC)

Holy zoom zoom

That's because of your fucking iPhone you stupid fuck.

>The same games that were available in Mega Collection Plus. Only the core four need revamps, I'm fine with ports for the rest.
>Mighty and Ray as additional playable characters. They can't be that hard to port from Mania.
>Unlockable composite Sonic moveset for all of the games (Spin Dash, Drop Dash, Insta Shield and Super Peel Out)
>Something equivalent to the Sonic World level from Jam.

Attached: 1649783488613.jpg (509x510, 54.78K)

because they’re the only good sonic games (& mania)

A physical edition.

genuinely interesting idea but will sadly never get in any sonic game.

Attached: 1648509053519.png (229x252, 25.58K)

There will be a physical version but only after enough digital copies are sold since Sega are greedy fucks who knows sonic fans will double dip their game purchases

I mean it's cool but I would have rather had a new Mania just remade some of the levels they missed in the first one while adding some more brand new ones.

Then make more sonic games? The old games wont suddenly become good if they just leave them there

You mean like you lose when the timer hits zero and with each room completion you regain some time?

I'm certainly not buying any digital version, that's for sure.

I do not have an iPhone
And anyway, the point still stands, having the option to look more ahead than the current 16:9 solution would be nice

online co-op and battle royale modes

>camera controls are DLC

Attached: 1543379396226.jpg (403x606, 80.72K)

>Anniversary Mode with Mania styled spritework
>Switch between original soundtrack or a remastered soundtrack (ideally done by Tee Lopes)
>More playable characters (Amy/Ray/Mighty/Metal Sonic)
>Customize abilities per game (drop dash, spin dash, peelout, etc.)
>Sprite switching (play as Sonic 3 Sonic in 1 or CD for example)
>Time Attack mode (assuming this is already in though considering leaderboards)
>cut content like Woods Zone and Sand Shower Zone included
>Competition Mode with online (all stages from every game available)
>Difficulty options (no rings mode, bosses have extra hits/stronger attacks, etc.)

sonic team hasnt made a good game since 1994, they’re not going to start now

I'd throw Sonic R in too.

A spritework Sonic 4 version which reworks the game so it doesn't suck, I've seen a couple of fangemes which do that on yt

I just want a extra game that's based off the Sonic OVA.
It can't be that hard to fucking do since all you need to do is to give Knuckles a hat.

Attached: Jrv0E.jpg (640x480, 49.14K)

>Sonic 3 on Steam in the Mega Drive Classics Collection is 3$ and can be modded to Sonic 3 A.I.R. which has all the features like 16:9 widescreen that were added to the other game remasters, and a ton of other features the remake won't (Unlockable Drop Dash)
>the artwork and the animations will be leaked minute 1 on youtube
>the asinine way they lock gallery features behind what edition you buy???
>might as well have had Sonic Mania Plus
