I don't get all the complaints about him running. You know you can sprint towards him, right? Hold B/Circle down and you'll go faster.

Perhaps originally, but its current attacks are all tuned to be dodged on foot.

>were we supposed to have torrent for this fight?
Huh, that would've actually been pretty cool desu

its annoying having to run to him a bunch, but its not nearly as cancer as essayist makes them out to be. i personally would have preferred a larger health pool and less jumping around

I feel like several bosses like EB and Astel were initially designed with the goat horse in mind. But then they limited it to like three boss types and crudely tweaked the others so they were playable, though not necessarily enjoyable, on foot

How am I supposed to do anything more than chip damage on this dude? This fight is taking 15 minutes each attempt.

I thought about it too, Torrent doesn't have any i-frames on dodging but all of EB's attacks seem like they could be avoided by riding away or jumping over them (higher than horseless jump affords that is).
That'd maybe explain why elden stars is unavoidable, it would be avoidable if you could move away faster.

Torrent would make it way too easy to dodge a ton of the Elden Beast's attacks. Furthermore, the Elden Beast only swims as far away as Kalameet would have jumped. Getting back in range for that is done with the same movements as dodging his attacks. The long range is saved for the ground rings attacks, and the trick is that the Elden Beast will always reappear on the opposite side of where it does the move, so just flee directly away from it.

>You know you can run out of stamina running after the boss and swing once right?
No shit.

You might be doing holy damage, which the Elden Beast is highly resistant against. Try using other weapons, or channeling your Faith stat with incantations that don't do holy damage (lightning, black flame, etc.)

Torrent is so dogshit, I doubt it. People keep saying Elden Beast would be better, but the reality is that all of his projectile spam would just stun-lock you off you mount anyway.

torrent needs iframes on the dash, I think the devs forgot

Torrent needs:
>Armor or some kind of equipment to boost poise and other mount-related stats
>An upgrade system to keep him from getting 1-shot by everything after Leyndell
>iFrames on Dash and/or Jump
>To heal when you rest at Grace
>Slight base speed increase, dash speed is fine but burning all your Stamina and locking yourself out of most animations is pretty trash
There should've also been some kind of system to use ashes/special mount-only ashes while riding Torrent. For now it's the most basic and least useful mount in any open world game I've played.

Torrent needs a roll. There I fucking said it

man I really do feel that the game needed a few more months to stew in development, you got all these half-finished shit, quests, and qol features that boggles my mind to why they would release their most anticipated game in such an incomplete stage.

The main problem I have is that when you compare the player to enemies, enemies have a dozen attacks while mounted, but players have two. Like why can Tree Sentinels block while mounted? Why can Night's Cavalry charge straight through you on command with the same animation as Torrent's dash? Why can Cuckoo Knights cast spells? Why can everything attack while leaping, but the player can't? The mount just feels unsatisfying to use and it's touted as a game-changer.

from ran out of time, as usual

>runs away
>cast 5 spells on your way there

yeah no this fight is stupid, even rot dogs pre nerf were more fair

I think he does heal when you rest at grace.

no, it clearly runs away from you so you have to dodge it's stupid ranged attacks. The issue is just that it jumps too often so you spend more time running back and forth than actually fighting it.
And elden stars isn't even an issue since the smaller hits just tickle. It's not even the only completely undodgeable attack in the game; mohg's nihil is also forced damage.

It's a spectacle boss. You're supposed to be running up to it most of the time so you can see its flashy attacks
>You know you can run out of stamina
Quickly duck while running

They added a jump button to the game like it would open up a whole new dimension to the formula, and it's barely relevant as far as general exploration is concerned. All it accomplished is that the world is now littered with enormous cliffs, because they don't want you to break the flow of exploration they envisioned.

>t. ran along the main path in the Academy and was surprised the dungeon takes 5 minutes to clear

If I have to fight this fucker again on another playthrough for any reason I'm going to burn a respec on magic and just learn to flawless no hit radagon shouldn't be too hard actually since radagon was obviously made easy to make this 2nd phase less of a pain if it's a low level run and I'm losing some vigor.

maybe, but dont care, I beat him anyway and he's really not difficult once you get familiar with all the attacks

I legitimately don't see how you're meant to dodge that star ball attack.

My point is that they did nothing exploration-wise with jumping they didn't already do in other games without a jump, and then went out of their way to make sure you can't do the interesting kind of sequence breaking or backwards approach that a jump might afford you in other open world type games. Even the "platforming" sections are still mostly about very precise drops onto janky geometry, very rarely are they horizontal or god forbid upwards.

Jumping didn't really change anything when it comes to how their level design approaches and rewards exploration.

Of course you were. This is the same shit as DS3's poise boolean being set to false and the "working as intended" cope afterwards. They fucked up a million things in the release of the game, this being one of them. They left the torrent switch off and are now too honorabru to turn it on. Admitting the mistake now would put shame on their families for years and Miyazaki has to commit ritual suicide.

I'm stuck on that fight as a mage, any tips? I just barelly kill the previous boss so I'm low on potions on that one, maybe I should go grind souls? I'm lvl 110

It's not unfair for the most part, just obnoxious.

>All it accomplished is that the world is now littered with enormous cliffs, because they don't want you to break the flow of exploration they envisioned.
My biggest dream after a few hours was an item that would extend the fall death distance because I could see it being extremely useful for quickly getting to certain areas on a 2nd playthrough or even in the current one if rushed. My disappointment came fast.

>use an exploit
Somehow I doubt it was designed around this.

Yeah you're a little low level for it. Anyway if you keep trying you might encounter that glitch that makes the elden beast freeze and you get a free kill.

Put magic infusion on a greatsword
Jump R2

You don't. You run away and take the chip.

why not just delay it

They did

can I just infuse any weapon for magic and it will be viable even on an INT build?

again

Yes, infusions are crazy in this game

thanks, I haven't grinded souls for a long time, is killing the small black guys still the best way to grind at my lvl?

Attached: file.png (341x266, 200.93K)

Jumping in leyndell is completely crazy you can go anywhere from the very start cause of it, running and jumping along rooftops and such

He doesn't, unless they fixed it in the last patch.

time to have some fun then, any recomendations?

How the fuck did you get to the last boss without figuring this out?

This is how you know none of these fuckers ever fought Gwyndolin

Greatsword

>is killing the small black guys still the best way to grind at my lvl?
Mohg's Palace, shooting an arrow at the bird in the blood swamp over the cliff, or killing the Albinaurics there is the best way to farm souls atm. Thank God they haven't nerfed it yet, so maybe it'll be staying for good.

Sure look the big arena

which lvl do you reccomend me to get? I don't want to overlevel too much and not being able to multiplayer

Pretty sure zullie said that he heals at grace. And I don't see why he wouldn't.

Clayman's Harpoon with Cold or Int infusion is one of the strongest caster weapons in the game atm. It has C/E/C with Cold and E/E/B with Magic.

>thank god I don't actually have to play the game

Gwyndolin is an infinite hallway manegeable shitty final boss got all the space it wantasto fuck you

I just used spells on everything, never used weapon
any specific one?
thanks

>any specific one?
Yes, Greatsword
You stupid cunt

I beat the game at 120-130 each time, 180 on NG+.

I'm not grinding all of the boring catabcombs and tunnels every playthrough, that's a waste of my time.

Most players in that range are 120+, start with that.

eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Greatsword
I'm retarded, I tought it was a type of sword, like the blue doll witch sword is a greatsword also
thanks

>I'm not grinding all of the boring catabcombs and tunnels every playthrough
Most of your levelups come from bosses, newfag-kun

If Elden Beast was even half as easy of a fight as Gwyndolin, nobody would be complaining about the running.

>admitting you're just too stupid to dodge amazing attacks like "Divine Dragon sword waves" and "literally just run and jump out of a circle"

is serpent sword with magic ashes good? I like the dodge, it's nice for healing a bit while pveing and seems it also heals me when invading and host kills npcs

if they made him with torrent in mind, they would probably make the rings harder to avoid, the missiles more numerous and faster etc. Then the essayist would complain again to follow the algorithm.

Imagine complaining about the last boss of the game being 'difficult'.

Bro, you are implying that fucking Gwyndolin was in any way comparable to Elden Beast. Gwyndolin, the easiest boss in Fromsoft history, only maybe beaten by the moonlight butterfly in how braindead easy it was. Elden Beast has a thousand times more challenging attacks and patterns than Gwyndolin and that's not even remotely arguable.

when i stayed close he doesn't combine ranged attacks along with the stars as much. Why don't youtubers ever try to switch up strategies?

>Elden Beast has a thousand times more challenging attacks
kek okay whatever
I don't talk to shitters who cry about how hard a spectacle boss is

the final boss in Souls games have all traditionally been easy though. It's a long standing tradition to make the final boss a complete joke ever since Demon's Souls. ER breaks with that tradition and makes it the most unfair and frustrating boss in the entire game.

Says the shitter who thinks Gwyndolin was in any way, shape or form challening and comparable to Elden Beast. Lmao.

They were equally easy
>y-you're a shitter because I think Elden Beast is hard
Continue coping

>muh tradition
You can enter the fight with 10+ flasks and a summon. Typical level is 140 and you should have plenty of larval respec tokens if you ened more health. When he does the rings you run the opposite way and he will always appear right after. It's not unfair at all.

I mean.. you people ARE doing Radagon properly right?

It takes 3.6 million souls to get to 120, not counting gear, consumables, upgrade stones, etc. Bosses Drop:
Margit 12k
Godrick 20k
Rennala 40k
Godfrey (Shade) 80k
Morgott 120k
Godskins 170k
Maliketh 220k
Godfrey 300k
Draconic Tree Sentinels (Both) 78k
Gideon 180k

Even accounting for bosses I've forgotten, the main non-optional bosses listed here adds up to 1.18million, which doesn't even account for a third of the runes in the game needed to reach the typical end-game level bracket.

Stay in school kids.

>no Malenia because he's too scared
lmao ok casual

No. Catching him wasn't even hard. People love bitching like children when it comes to this game, for whatever reason.

I think the horse heals when you actually rest but not when you fast travel to a grace.
