It's pretty horrifying and the leaked doc's notes dwell a lot on the self-harm aspect, but she didn't do that shit to herself. You can see the early progression - her legs just rot out from the inside. The itching must have been unbearable, but again the dressings dont look like they're disturbed and the tissue damage doesn't look like clawmarks, it looks like infection.
IMO they left it waaaay to long, should have amputated the minute it looked like the skin grafts hadn't solved the problem. You don't fuck around with anything causing that sort of tissue death, just kill it with fire and hope it hasn't already spread.
