What is the appeal of "games" where the combat is completely controlled by the computer?

Xenoblade would be a much better series if the combat wasn't auto attack and actually required engagement.

Xenoblade 3 is going to be the most SJW and anti-white Nintendo game ever.
2 had great characters and one could say the girls were the one saving grace of it but now on X3 all girls are wearing literal burkas and now there's also wetbacks doing magic tricks. Monolith is no longer a game company, they have gone woke, let's make them go broke.

is this sperg going to spam this shit thread everyday until release

why is this board so full of mentally ill niggers

>why is this board so full of mentally ill niggers
Project Chanology
Gamergate
and the 2016 US Election

In that order

Does Xenoblade feature auto attack or not?

Combat in every XC game is based on skill rotations. Beyond the prologue, Autoattack is just a thing to make you feel slightly better about poorly managed CDs.

Some of these Xenoblade posts will have 300 posts and over 100 of them are the same schizo repeating the same things that are spammed in every xenoblade thread for the past 4 years. It's truly incredible that I can take a break for a few months, come back and you still have the same people posting the same retarded shit. At least for the new game they'll freshen up some of their material.

>Xenoblade would be a much better series if the combat wasn't auto attack and actually required engagement.
Normal games also have auto-attack, it's called 'attack'
The main difference between Xenoblade and other JRPGs is that there's no 'defend' option to alternately choose. Auto-attack is fine but there should also be a choice to switch to defend mode.

favela niggers have a lot of time to kill

There's a reason calling out anons not taking their medication became a meme last year - this board is infested with genuinely mentally ill schizophrenic nutjobs

>not liking games with computer controlled combat is mental illness

we truly do need to start funding a real mental health system because I'm tired of open air asylums, anyone who posts on a discord dedicated to trying to shill weird sex fetishes on Yea Forums needs to be committed and medicated into a stupor.

Have you considered that at that point its probably not just one person and that you need to take your meds?

No, posts like this are mental illness

completely ignore all of the Arts you need to use to get through any encounter

>an opinion other than my own is mental illness
I'm not even that guy but you need help.

If you cannot see how deranged that post is then you're too far gone.

>Completely controlled
Because it's not. Sure, let the character you are controlling sit there and auto attack, see how long it takes before you die because 80% of the combat systems are being ignored. Not touching the controller means that you aren't getting.
>Chain attacks
>Arts except from the AI party members
>Fusion attacks
>Ouroboros
The games auto attacks are just a small attack used to charge your big attacks, the majority of the game is using your big attacks, because the game properly played means having a big attack ready pretty much every half second.

Hey, you are in luck, XC3 has an evade option that lets your characters swiftly get out of the way of an oncoming attack. Mio also gets arts specifically for evasion, which causes an attack to miss completely, even if she's in the way of it.

Auto attack then select an aimbot cinematic attack from the menu. Very engaging and not pretentious at all baka

But thats the problem with the series combat. With this game its probably really bad, if you dont touch the controller you get about 7/8ths of your normal output. Yeah yeah probably a little less because of bad ai and all the ornamentation like chain attacks but for basic fights you dont have much agency.

t. never played the game

im with you brother, pirating this shit as soon as it's leaked

Try auto-fighting an enemy in Xenoblade outside of the tutorial area. See how far you get.

Attached: Tia.png (500x500, 228.07K)

There is no appeal. People play these games simply for porn

Is auto attack is not a core feature or are you just coping?

Its doing rotations the same way every time and then sometimes the enemy or the party ai fucks up the rotation, but theres not many tools you ever have to fix things once youre already in combat. Sometimes theres alot of enemies that hivemind aggro together and then you press the button to have everybody focus on the weakest first. And sometimes theres enemies with gimmicks or weaknesses that imply different party builds but you can't change your build when youre already in combat. Thats pretty much it.

>actually required engagement.

That's what the arts are for.

You've got a shit build if a resistance or two completely stonewalls you in combat.

Game would improve a lot if they change they shitty battle system agree with you OP. Hell arc rise and the last story on will had better gameplay than xenoblade and were better games.

Selecting an art on a menu that never misses is still not very engaging.

Ok party building ,party building is decent in both games but thats not combat.

>What is the appeal of "games" where the combat is completely controlled by the computer
Literally cannot beat the game without learning imputs

It contributes to it. You wouldn't play Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest without kitting out your party, dumbshit.

Literally can beat the game without learning inputs
youtu.be/MfNcZ5LchWk

>"only auto-battle"
>uses character switch attacks
>uses blade combos
>uses chain attacks
Kek

It's still not particularly engaging outside of some major encounters. They have never managed to make fighting mobs enjoyable in the same way something like FF7R has done. You have your guy only, you cannot really micromanage your party members outside of selecting the synergized arts, which can still be out of your hands when they suddenly swap to a different blade in a chain you didn't want. You can switch your own blade but you're still often reliant on the AI to T up enemies for topple/launch opportunities. Often times the window for executing your burst attack is bizarrely finnicky. Rex will just be smashing away on auto-attack as I mash the A button to keep the synergy going. Most of the time you're just flicking the stick endlessly to build up the same arts because Aegis is usually faster than your other auto-attacks.

This is not what you think it is. This is a video showcasing a postgame DLC setting in XC2 where the player is controlled by an AI that uses driver skills on cooldown, uses blade abilities to get as many orbs as possible, and then does chain attacks, all while auto-succeeding timed inputs.

these retarded niggers pretending they actually played the games by always saying >that never misses

Just because you like passive combat doesn't mean someone didn't "play" the game.

try starting your shit arguments by not outright being wrong and outing yourself immediately

So the computer is playing the game. Nice.

They have other systems on top of that that make it more engaging like using certain arts in the correct order to build up combos, and the placement of your characters when you use the arts and using them in certain ways.

What is wrong about it. The computer auto attacks and builds up your art which is selected on a menu. Very engaging.

Are you perchance the same mentally-ill nigger that has been shitting /fg/ crying about the supposed wokeness of kuro no kiseki? either way kys

That game doesnt have cuck shit though

I feel like people are purposefully misinterpreting what OP is saying. I think he means (correct me if I'm wrong) that the issue is with your not controlling the attacks yourself - as in, you don't have direct control over the character. When the character gets into a fight, you're not swinging his sword like you would in a fight in a regular game like Monster Hunter or Dark Souls; he automatically attacks, and your interaction with the combat is through abstracted menu choices. Pressing a button for a combat art just tells your character to perform a special move; you're not actually doing it yourself.
It's at a degree removed from the gameplay.

What? The attacks are literally executed via buttons. You press b and you do a attack, or y and x and you do an attack. It's no different to Dark Souls in that regard.

Not who you're replying to but you're absolutely coping if you think the combat system in any XB games is "no different to Dark Souls". You literally select your attack on a menu.

So? That's what RPGs are. It has always been more about party composition and strategic usage of your various moves, instead of being an action game where the AI is generally pretty dumb to fight against because it would wreck you otherwise. Why is there a sudden push to make all games into action games? That there has to be a sense of performing actions, or the player has no agency? It's almost a facetious argument, especially when they try to present it as you being able to put the controller down and win the game. You can't.

You literally press a button, either x y or b and your characters performs an attack, just like how to press R1 in Dark Souls and your characters swings his sword. The principle is the same.

>It's almost a facetious argument, especially when they try to present it as you being able to put the controller down and win the game. You can't.
Someone posted a video of it and there's others all over YT. It's possible.

ok so... don't play it? what's the issue here

So then don't play games with auto attacking and go on your merry way? Like how does this affect you in any whatsoever unless you're just seething cause people are enjoying something you don't like?

No, someone posted a video of auto battle. Which was an update to 2 that allowed the game to run completely on AI. It plays the game mostly fine, but won't use chain attacks. It also isn't the argument being made. Which was that auto attacks, as in, the three small swings the characters do without you having to make an input. Is the game playing itself. Stop goal post moving.

>I'm not going to stand by and watch yet another RPG get ruiend by auto attac
that's quite literally what you're doing though. do you think your daily schizo spam threads are achieving anything?

fixed

Attached: Fixedit.jpg (600x300, 66.93K)

>Auto attacks ruined RPGS
>Boy howdy do I LOVE pressing A to select a generic attack option
Right

>Threads are already dying out
Why?
The trailer breathed new life into these threads for like a day, and now there's nothing again and the shitposters are back.
Where the fuck did everyone go?

alright I'll take the bait
you do know that starting with XC2, auto attacks do require player engagement, as you can tilt the control stick to control the animation just like a simple A button. And attacks need to be timed in order to cancel your auto attacks into an art. XC and XCX ought to have had this but this is literally the only good thing that XC2 has done which ought to be a staple in the series from now on. Every other combat mechanic in XC2 is pointless garbage that could have been implemented better.

>Fiora
speedshift chads have no such weakness.

Say something nice to her

If any version of the Perfect Works ever got finished, I'd rather it be Xenosaga.
It's sad the we're getting the worst most sissified version of it thanks to Nintendo.

>Autoaim
>Aimbot
Nigger just go play a shooter. Your argument is shit and you can't seem to grasp the idea that strategic combat can be engaging.

Game awards acknowledge Xenoblade 3. GOTY nominee incoming.

She has good taste in friends.

>Why is there a sudden push to make all games into action games? That there has to be a sense of performing actions, or the player has no agency?
Not OP but I like action games and would prefer games that I would otherwise not enjoy be made into action games. That's all.

Everybody is tired of replying to the same shitty years old bait.

Xenoblade in particular attracts the mentally ill. Both as genuine fans and the "people" that think it's funny to post retarded racebait garbage.

>2 had great characters
Absolute bullshit right here. We all know you played the games because of boobs and nothing else.

Xenoblade Chronicles - not nominated
Xenoblade Chronicles X - nominated best RPG (Witcher 3 won)
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - not nominated
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - will ultimately not be nominated
