I really like the series. I was pretty lukewarm on 6 but I hope they can keep what worked and improve on the things that didn't, like they did going from 3 to 4, or DD2 to D5.

All the games up to 4 were good (including DD2), 5 was a bit hit or miss but the gameplay was decent enough to save it then 6 killed it. Honestly I'd rather have the vita remaster of 3 and DD2 on pc than 6.

Yeah, the characters and story were a surprising high point for D6. Almost every game has at least one character I can't fucking stand, like Fuka or Seraphina, but the worst I can say about D6's cast was that some of them didn't get enough screen time or stand out enough to make much of an impression. The story was mostly only hampered by the budget, meaning it was a bit too short and was hamstrung by having to reuse the same boss over and over. But that part of the game at least was a major improvement over Disgaea 5.

i enjoyed it but too much grindy for me
i sinked 130 hours on the first one and wasn't done with the endgame (i gave up grinding) so can't really complain for 3 bucks

Series has a general inverse relationship between story quality and game quality.

As the gameplay got more refined, the stories became more collections of memes that the writers mashed together in an attempt to be funny.

The battle animations are really fun and cool looking, all of the mechanics and systems around them are cheesy and tedious. The stories are okay until 6, the official unarguable tier list is 1>4>5>2>3>6. You should still play them in chronological order to best understand this tier list, but thems the breaks and I am not wrong

1 > 4 > 6 > 5 = 2 > 3 > DD2

Flonne for me was the worst, maybe at least because Etna in D2 wasn't that bad and Laharl was mostly a one dimensional character outside of "story growth" anyway. Flonne was naive and a bit silly but not the hyperactive drooling retard the later games made her out to be.

The original PS2 version still has the BEST english Etna voice actor. All other voice actors for Etna after that were inferior garbage.
