Can you improve via criticism?

not via criticism alone no

yes, "it's shit" and "kill yourself" are not valid criticisms thoughever

Yes.
They are.

this

If there's a widely agreed-upon flaw with the game and you go out of your way to fix it, then yes.

Not if you're yanderedev, that guy can only improve through repeated head trauma

If you fuckers would quit emailing him maybe he'd have his game done by now god damn

A game can definitely improve from criticism
Most of the time that's not gonna be external criticism though, it's borderline pointless to sift through people's individual comments on social media or forums and shit, most of them have the wrong ideas or they are just stupid, it's better to gauge a general picture of what MOST people have a problem with (through surveys and general research) and then improve on that
The form of criticism that is much more effective is self-criticism, but you have to have a person (or people) at the lead or as a head of a department who has a good grasp on what's a shit idea or concept, and they have to have enough power to not get completely shut down by shareholders or the lead dev when they make a suggestion

Hello, EvaXephon.

MikeZ told him what to improve about his game and Eva threw a fit because he didn't get showered with praise for just cobbling something together

Of course, but the internet is not the place for criticism 99% of the time. Telling someone how shit and garbage and retarded they and their creation are while being a complete asshole about it the whole time will not help anyone.

to be exactly honest when some one criticizes your work it is actually painful.
i never understood that before i start drawing.

There is literally no other way.

If there is no criticism then there is nothing to change as the thing is "perfect". The only reason to improve/change something is if before hand someone said such thing was less than ideal.

Its why nothing can be considered perfect and a true "10/10" as there is always room for improvement and with that, always a form of criticism.

I’m too busy drinking milk from my chalice to read your shit.

Sometimes a thing can be widely agreed upon by a large group of retards who shouldn't be listened to. Sometimes what appears to be widespread agreement is the crowing of a highly aggressive vocal minority who especially shouldn't be listened to.

Yes.
This.

Opposite for me. My art didn't improve until I received criticism and took an objective look about how I approach things.

That's a dumb screenshot, it doesn't mean the reply is related to the first post

Criticism hurts because you can't always tell whether someone wants you to improve or they're just taking out their personal frustrations on you, if someone goes out of their way to tell you what to fix I assume it's the former but it's not always immediately obvious

Yes. /thread + ratio + no cap+ fr fr + OP's a fag

Criticism helps, but Yea Forums is full of spergs who think "KILL YOURSELF NIGGER" is unironic valid critique

Is this real? thread, is this the real tripcode?

Attached: ameface.jpg (567x688, 34.86K)

Completely depends who is giving the criticism. A lot of times you can't take complaints at face value, I remember the lead dev for killer instinct talking about this in a documentary.

they're valid criticisms, they're just not useful criticisms.
"it's shit" gives you nothing to work with. It's just an excuse for the poster to be an ass and hide behind the guise of pretending to be constructive.

In Art? no.

That's why it's important to be polite, respectful and empathetic when offering criticism. Something that is almost nonexistent on the internet. I'm not saying I am any better, I insult and belittle people constantly but that's because I want to annoy or hurt them, not because I want them to improve.

if the only valid solution to a problem is to kill yourself then i don't see an issue there

obviously yes

Same here. Once I got off my high horse and starting asking people clearly better than me for help/criticism, my skills improved significantly. I still don't think i'm even an ounce as good as they are but the journey to become better is a thousand times more fun than sitting there fumbling about with sticks and stones saying "Grug best. Grug art masterpiece. Grug get all art hoes. Why no one like Grug"

For me it is just "Please say something nice about my art or i never gonna draw again" even if the art is shit, because i need positive motivation.

My issue is that sometimes I feel like people are too nice. My art is objectively meh for the most part, unless I do a study that takes probably 3x longer to make than the piece I’m studying from. It’s difficult to know where I need to improve a lot of the time, just that it doesn’t look good to me.

>All those Yes
Are you guys actually retarded? That will only kill Video games as an art form.

Of course, that's how scott made millions with Five Nights at Freddy's.

Good

I wonder what he's up to these days...

only true post in this thread

kek

it depends. you could also stagnate via criticism or stagnate to the point where you just don't finish or produce anything due to criticism. a lot of criticism is total junk, I remember hearing a dev making a shotgun's sfx sound more powerful after players complained about it being too weak. no real gameplay changes at all. after the change the playerbase thanked the devs for bringing shotguns to an appropriate power level after the buff.

>he doesn't know

And the worst part about "negative critiquers" is that they'll slander and insult you, and rewrite the interaction in their head that they tried to help you and attempt to gaslight the situation as you not listening to them and their """""advice"""""

Attached: android 18.png (1216x798, 66.12K)

Pretty much, sometimes people are just being assholes for the sake of it.
I think the key is if multiple people say the same criticism then you should fix/improve it. If one off dude bitches about something you didn't even think could be an issue, it's probably just them being a faggot.

What the fuck? Why are you impersonating me?

Can you? Absolutely.
Will you? Only if you listen to the good criticisms, which is hard. A lot of fags on the internet have completely braindead opinions, and you have to sort it out. Listening to the masses will probably net you more sales, but will also probably make your game more homogenous and shitty.

I zoned out of this game's development. Has there been any major advancement? Is Osana implemented yet? Is the fundraising campaign Open?

Faker detected

>"kys yanderedev" *doxes him* "milk chalice" *repeating what people say about him without doing own research*
AIIIEEEEEE HE CANT TAKE CRITICISM!! BAD DEV!! HE'S SO BAD

i really hate this generation of sheep who literally have no inner monolouge and dont think for themselves

Attached: 1650341668460.gif (550x400, 755.89K)

also don't misinterpret the anecdote, the point isn't that players were wrong. They were RIGHT about something, there was something wrong with the gun they just made the wrong conclusion that it's stats were weak. If a bunch of people have the same criticism you can be certain that something is definitely wrong but it's your job as a dev to figure out what it is and the best way to address it.

Of course. The problem is game devs would rather make less money, behave antagonistically to their players, and have everyone be generally miserable than admit they're wrong or could do better.

Kill yourself.

Remember how we'd have a thread almost every day about Yandev in 2016? What happened?

Yes, but you can also degrade by blindly following critique. Criticism isn't automatically valid or correct just by being. Even a large group of people critiquing something doesn't automatically make that thing bad. It may just mean they're stupid casuals who need to fuck off. A step between criticism and improvement would be re-evaluation.

As a fellow drafag, I can only tell you to take the 'it's shit' type of 'criticism' with a grain of salt, especially if you draw things not everyone is into.

Constructive criticism is always viable and you can almost always take away something from it.

cuz ur a sociopath lul
now go ahead and deny it

You're shit and kill yourself

it's the real tripcode but everyone knows the passcode tobuse it

>If a bunch of people have the same criticism you can be certain that something is definitely wrong

And that something can absolutely be those people

the artist who made thay gif could use some criticism

Her boobs bounce way too fast than it was supposed to bounce.

You can tell by first glance that it's ironic, but that's expecting too much from Yea Forums.

Glownigger hands made this post.

"eat shit, 10000 million flies cannot be possibly wrong!"

>It's ironic, so it's okay to be bad.
No, also, her hair needs more frames and her face could be better. Asians girls don't have fat noses and lips.

His only mistake was feeding the trolls

It literally is okay, if it's making fun of something , retard.

Yes, valid criticism needs an explanation as to what specifically is wrong.

>writing class in college
>write a short story
>really proud if it and think it's great
>hand it in by email to prof
>prof sends me an email saying call me with his number
>says that there's too much wrong with it to describe in writing
Brehs...

Also wasting his time adding filler content in the game rather than polishing the main thing. Clubs and shit should be added later as dlcs once you have a strong base.
