I don't know what niche dragon riding is supposed to fill, but it looks stupid. I fly to get around, I'd never do it for fun. They're going to hamfist in dailies and world quests revolving around flying your dragon. They're going to put dragon armor cosmetics in the store. Everything about the world and content look boring apart from the new talent system which, eh, might be good?

I don't know how much they care. They pretty much admitted after Legion that they have a "very loyal" fanbase that will play whatever and will always play WoW so they can experiment and "try new things".

Even if it does suck WoW will still be one of the most popular games on the planet. And there are things that genuinely seem good or great, the return of talents, the return to Azeroth, the evoker class even if the race itself looks like some furry nightmare, significant new depth to crafting including specialization.

Also, while they didn't say this explicitly, I got the feeling they were taking ques from Zelda and instead of additional areas for flight being locked away by hard invisible wall or fatigue that it'll be more of a Zelda situation where unlocking new abilities for your dragon opens up new areas for exploration, which, if true, would be one of the coolest new ideas in WoW in years.

I just find it hard to believe they're putting so much work into something that's just for fun. I can't remember the last time they've done that in the recent past.
