Still the best vehicular combat game of all time.

I also enjoyed Vigilante 8 and the Star Wars version of it.
For me it's Carma 2, Flatout 1, and Midtown Madness 2
>star wars version
Which one?
Used to main Mr. Grimm.
Save up a couple specials, freeze and it's incoming death.
4 is better.
Grimm was fun but a total glass cannon
Warthog was the most balanced
Star Wars: Demolition
Not by any stretch of the imagination, but it did have Rob Zombie, so that was cool.
I would say yes. Spent many many hours just playing it over and over and over.....
I'd pay $60.00 for an updated graphics version of the game in a heartbeat. Same exact game...just modern day graphics.
Black is better.
why did this genre die
Arcade Everything tended to get squeezed out by simshit.
I liked 3 the most
Got double fucked by open world sandbox and console shooters becoming more popular
I wish Twisted Metal had an arcade cabinet
Would look cool
IIRC Midway was originally making one
Thumper is the way to go for that kinda style. The freeze then special combo anyways. Plus he doesn't get fucking beat up like grimm does.
Me and my buddy used to try to co-op the story mode on hard but couldn't ever make it past Holland which I think is second to last level. You don't get many lives...shit was mega tough. This is a great game.
Since we got some folks who actually played this, can we talk about how fucking useless the specials for twister, grasshopper are? this also applies to mr. slam's kinda as well. You hurt yourself as much as you hurt the other cars with that shit.
They need to put Twisted Metal on steam along with Vigilante 8
Twister is meant to throw your enemies out of the combat zone and into their death, like New York
>Grasshopper
They made her special suck, her car suck, and everything suck so you work hard to get one of the best ending in the game
I liked Axel even though all my friends thought he was lame.
It's a shame, I'd love to see a modern Twisted Metal with all the fancy damage modelling and physics we can do now.
it's pretty niche genre to begin with, with only one really big series. there was a car combat game as a launch title for ps5 though, its only legacy is that one gif of the really fat black woman with the zoomer haircut doing a dance
I was always tied between him and Mr Slamm. Its a shame they never carried the later in the series as a mainstay. Having a killdozer character was some cool shit.
Based. other fags need not reply.
You're forgetting the arab weeaboo chick.
Why aren't there any indie games in this genre?
Mall of America had this huge NASCAR simulation room with maybe half a dozen or dozen of these in pic related with feedback and everything for people to actually race each other. Imagining a modern day equivalent of that, or those awesome Mech Warrior booths of hydraulics, for a game like Twisted Metal is one of those never evers I both hate and love having.
Twisted metal 2012 didn't to the series any favor
>Online is the main focus and that it
>Story mode is reduce to 3 stories, which was shit
>they don't even use their own cars, losing more character
>Grimm really suck, Dollface suck, Sweet Tooth is just Black times 100 but over stay his welcome
>Calypso wasn't fun at all in this installment
>the wish aren't even that good
The series died for this shit.
Driving physics are hard and people really tear into you if they're not passable. And considering the lack of appreciation for anything but realism in driving games now that bar is pretty high and intimidating.
I liked Road Redemption but that's a really low budget attempt at Road Rash not Twisted Metal or V8 but it gave me hope someone would still try, jank and all.
Damn you might be alone on this planet user
sure seems like it. right time right memories I suppose, it probably really is just shit
That is just sad then. This game is so old at this point. I wish Sony would bring it back and do it justice this time. I think the audience for these games though just isn't there so at most they can hope for maybe a million or two million at best for sales. That PS3 game was fun the little I played of it.
Vigilante 8 was much better. Twisted metal 2 is mediocre in comparison.
What was that online game a few years back that tried customizable vehicular combat? IIRC you could pretty freely design your car how you wanted, some people would work together and make cars that could actually connect/tow each other and then work together like some giant ship on wheels broadsiding fuckers.
It was very clearly Mad Max inspired if that helps, everything took place in a desert/post apocalypse landscape and the cars had a junker aesthetic.
I think it was on PC but it had a bigger push on consoles.
>Vehicular combat has been dead for 30 years
Crossout
it unfortunately had a lot of microtransactions
the only really good car combat games on PC are Gas Guzzlers Extreme and Carmageddon: Max Damage
I MUST CONSUME
Crossout? I do remember that being on xbone as some f2pshit.
>Crossout
>it unfortunately had a lot of microtransactions
Yup there we go, that was it. And yeah it just figures they had to fuck it up like that out of the gate.
Same.
1 Still has the best Endings with the real live actors. The cartoons and 3D after those are terrible and cringe.
While it does potentially make them better games, they make worse memes.
I have a few games on my list that could do with the same treatment but that shit is filed away in the neverever page. AAA studios have a hard enough time making a decent original IP let alone digging up the past to slap a new coat of paint on it.
I was so disappointed Darkside wasn't playable in 2 way back when.
You could always play Mad Max is still a decent enough car combat game once you get all the upgrades.
I used to like Axel and his ending. Before I saw 1's cinematics, that is. So it still has a few good memes, just not as many.
>first game Remedy they ever made
>completely forgotten about and will probably never see any kind of modern treatment
It sucks but its also a blessing because where would they even start with this.
Played through that twice actually. I do really like the game but it's a shame that by the time you unlock most things the map is pretty empty. The caravans or something should have repopulated, if you did that all too fast all you'd really have to use your classic car or upgrades on is weak random enemies. I'd love to see a sequel.
Still the best Calypso.
>they don't even use their own cars, losing more character
It really threw me off when I saw that anyone could use axels vehicle. What the hell?
So Minion won the Twisted Metal before the first game, Outlaw won the Twisted Metal of the first game, I THINK Axel was the winner of Twisted Metal 2?
I agree with you on having the world becoming repopulated with enemies again. Even something like the Farcry outpost renewing feature would be serviceable enough. Anything to give me an excuse to run through the game again with the Pursuit Special. Mindlessly pawing through wrecks for cheap scrap as the game hands you tons of it on a silver platter was never my ideal for a Mad Max vidya.
Multiple timeline shit.
Outlaw won 1 and 2.
I prefer twisted metal 3
for me, it's
Mogged by Black and 2012, but mogs everything else in turn.
This and Critical Depth are the best non-Twisted Metal games. V8 gets an honorable mention.
I thought his ending in TM2 was, 'all the contestants were all in a traffic accident, everyone is actually in a coma, and this crazy competition is just a dream' He likes wakes up in a hospital bed or something. Yeah that's his ending for 'winning' it, but I don't think that counts as him canonically winning jack shit in 2.
I prefer Twisted Metal 1. Still have my longbox copy. The gameplay, atmosphere and audio is peak Twisted Metal.
That was Roadkill in 2.
Outlaw in 2 wishes to see her partner, so Calypso sends HER into space. She saves the first Outlaw and then reveals she made her car a spaceship or some shit.
You're right my bad, mixed up the names there. it's been a while.
but Axel had his mechanical limbs from ripping his flesh ones off from his TM2 ending in TM-HO.
np also I can't find any confirmation that Outlaw 2 technically won in Twisted Metal 2.
Minion won the one before TM1 took place, as stated in TM1. Outlaw won TM1 as stated in TM2.
After that it goes hard into alternate timeline shit.
Yeah, Head-On seems to confirm at least 3 different people winning TM2.
