really need to update this since it's a bit of a mess
Are you the same user who made this one?
Yes.
Bless you.

I know Yea Forums loves to shit on it, but that game absolutely has atmosphere
Holy soul. Is this WoW?
I didn't want to include every Zelda game, which is why I only included one 3D and one 2D, otherwise it'd have countless Zeldas, Resident Evils and so forth
What atmosphere is this?
One of disappointment.
What map?
Why are audio webms not allowed here?
Make sure K-Dst is on the radio.
God I love that fucking area in that game. To this day it still blows my mind how well they captured the spirit of that series so well in that game. It's like that 30 Rock gif with the waffles in the pizza box.
Throw in Infra if it's not already in there. You spend most of your time in storm drains and crumbling power plants. It's got a bit of a HL2 vibe.
I swear it's more of a giant room escape than a walking sim.
why are old stealth games so comfy
Pretty sure that's a fan map.
To stop a solid 1m30s of microsoft sam screaming NIGGERNIGGERNIGGER. It is either wojak spamming by retards or screamer webms by retards.
What game is this?
Is it just nostalgia or did the GTA3 trilogy have an atmosphere that has never been replicated since? I've never even been to the cities that they used as inspiration, but all still feel like home to me.
Post any RDR2 webm
god i love this game, i boot it once in a while just to roam around
Small maps that consequently have a ton of detail put into them.
Atmosphere, that's a 10 letter word.
Red Dead Redemption 2
Read the file name.

The extent to which you enjoy it might be nostalgia, but GTA 3 definitely had a unique atmosphere
Less is more when you have less to work with.
GTA III had a very dingy style that the later games haven't replicated in the same manner. IV gets close under the right weather conditions but for the most part the game has a much warmer palette which doesn't gel as well as III's cold, dark and grime vibe despite both games essentially being about the same thing.
Yes Infra definitely has some of the best looking Source Engine maps out there.
I've only beat it once and it hooked me more than any game ever since I played WoW and Oblivion as a kid
very hesitant to replay it in case it's just a one-time-deal type of game
I didn't care for it all that much but that post ps1 but not quite next gen look gives me the feels.
Game?
try it again in a few years, you'll discover it again
I did not expect to like it as much as I did. Why are finns so good at aesthetic jank? Max Paine and alan wake also have that same mix of good and painful with the aesthetics and gameplay.
Don't forget the pea soup fog.
Shadow of Destiny.
Anyone have a high res picture of St. Denis at night?
Chalice of Souls
Have one that wasn't posted in the last racing thread.
its honestly scary just how realistic some of these screenshots can be.
God damn alan wake was so good.
Is it just me or is the lighting for this game light years ahead of every other game?
it absolutely is. the cloud tech alone is a marvel
RDR2 is an actual next-gen game and it released back in 2018; no either dev can afford to pour so much money into their engine, it's the best in the industry
Atmosphere just means the environment around the player invokes an emotional response of believing in said game world and not just thinking "ahaha, da vidya gaem!". Keep on posting anons as as long as a scene draws you in regardless of fidelity it has done its job.
The cult compound was fucked up too
How did you get the UFO?
Holy shit
I've seen this place used as a filming location in tokusatsu so often it caught me off guard when you end up down there in Ghostwire Tokyo.
Soul
SWAT4 had tons of good levels.
yeah, although music and other things contribute to atmosphere as well. Oddworld has an incredible atmosphere even if you can't directly interact with the background, since it feels like you're looking into an alien world and the music and creatures sell you on the theme
they all form a larger goal of creating immersion
for this reason I think Elden Ring largely failed at feeling atmospheric (to me at least) despite having a surface-level atmosphere, since the pace of the game didn't match the world's tone; it was hard for me to feel grounded when I could double-jump like a madman and had nothing to do but fight all the time, there was never a chance to soak the world in properly, too chaotic
Lands of Lore?
Baroque(Saturn/PS1) has great atmosphere and an amazing soundtrack.

for all the hullabaloo about it, walking around in cyberpunk after taking an edible was a very cool experience. It's so god damned detailed. You can get lost exploring every little nook and cranny
yes
