The only game around that time frame was Splatoon, which we know that Monolith Soft was also helping with. Nintendo probably told them that the game was just fine and they could work on anything DLC wise after they helped out getting Splatoon 3 off the ground.

Since now that's a wash, and Monolith had all but confirmed the game is done, they might as well release it earlier since they don't have E3 Treehouse to showcase the gameplay.
