Speedrunners typically use whichever version of the game is easiest. They will just use the previous patch to do runs. There aren't categories for specific patches.

I'll never understand how invasionfags can possibly have fun in these games. I only invaded 3 times for Varre's quest and the lag was dogshit. People weren't skipping around everywhere, but even on my screen I didn't understand how my hits were landing. If I swung at air it was a hit and if my sword passed through matter it was a miss. This. Glitching to finish a game faster is fucking retarded, yet is the most celebrated form of speedruning since it's the fastest. I'd rather watch someone that took the time to get skilled enough at a game that he can beat it in record time. Elden Ring is an exception though, since more then half of the game is optional.

Depends on the game. Something like a Celeste speedrun, which goes pretty much like how the game is intended to be played, I'll concede that the person with the fastest time there on the 100% category deserve the title of "the best Celeste player". But for a game that the speedrun looks nothing like an actual playthrough, all I can say is that they're a master of beating that very specific "thing" fast.
