AC is the only story based historical action adventure series that regularly focuses on famous times, places and characters. They don't care about roleplaying, they make this pretty clear throughout the game. None of your options really matter, there's only like seven that make any difference to anything and five of them are tied to who survives at the end of the Family story.

I'm glad they went with the woman as canon though. In AC1, Brotherhood or 2 they removed a bunch of stuff in post because it was historically inaccurate. The woman being a mercenary captain being canon cemented the fact that they no longer wish to be historically accurate and that new AC has NOTHING to do with the first few.
