Its kusoge disguised as a triple A title. Gameplay is shallow and you’re forced to replay the same story segments with minor changes to get all the endings. Story is good but that’s not enough to carry the whole thing

It's a better version overall but strangely keeps most of the monotonous boring fetch quests from the original. You will spend hours on them, and they still feel like nothing but filler.

Still an incredible story, premise and cast of characters, with the added benefit of marginally better combat.

If you want all the endings, be prepared to finish the game 5 times (with minor changes to areas, story etc.). It can get very tedious. At least you have some nice OST to listen to which eventually will get stuck to your head.

It's a game with an amazing story, world, and one of the greatest soundtracks in all of vidya, but the gameplay is a fucking pain, and I had no idea what the fuck Yoko Taro was smoking making you play the 2nd half of the game 3-4 times and then a good chunk of the first part again

Hey, so I finished this game a few months back, and I have a question.
I know this was probably brought up countless times before, and I'm just a newfag, but
the song, The Dark Colossus Destroys All first plays when you're fighting that giant shade, it's a fitting song for such an epic battle, and the point in time it plays. The two other times it plays are during the Wolf shade boss fight, and the robot boss fight, the smallest bosses post timeskip. Around the third run through the game, I noticed that in the first case, the wolves fight knowing they're about to be slaughtered, yet fight anyway, and in Kalil's case, he doesn't want to fight you at all, so was the actual meaning behind the choice of that song in those two instances supposed to symbolize you becoming the aggressor, and basically playing the boss music from the enemy's perspective? or am I just overthinking it?

The remaster was a failure. We didn't get any new doujins of Kaine railing twink Neir's ass.

They added some cut content they couldn't get into the original such as the true ending and other routes so for any intends and purposes that game is the definitive edition, I got it for 30 bux and it's been pretty good so far outside some jank with the followers not having idle animations or just teleporting.

The combat, balance and gameplay in general was massively improved, same with the game's artstyle and presentation in general. The new character models are much closer to their original artworks.

I also think the relationships with the party members are a bit odd with father nier and you lose the timeskip impact so I think the replicant mc is the better of the two
